I still cant find a fix to my only luna problem. If i'm recording drums and nail a take then go over to guitar and start recording a new track and mess up I'll "ctrl-z" to undue the track and it will undue the work I did BEFORE the thing i'm trying to undue as in IT WILL DELETE ALL OF THE DRUM TAKE I JUST DID and leave the guitar track that I WANT to undue then I to to redue but redue is greyed out and undue just undoes something before the drum take like it constantly deletes the track before the one i'm trying to delete. No the tracks are still there in a folder somewhere and it take about 20 minutes to go dig through folders and unnamed files to find the tracks it deleted and re line them back up. it happens once or twice per session. I'm for real going to switch back to logic just because of this. Nobody had answer this problem i've posted in a few places. I cant record this happening because i would have to just record for hours and hope I get it on tape and then what just setup a camera behind me looking at the screen? What a pain.

So I’m an audio production student at full sail university I constantly am trying to find ways to improve my mixing abilities beyond demo quality im trying to figure out how to get my mixes sounding more industry standard with the limited resources I have I don’t have the luxury of recording live amps etc so I use plug ins for 90 percent of the guitar amps drum midi etc I’m just curious to figure how to make my mixes for metalcore music more professional and well rounded. I don’t suppose you have any videos or tips to achieving that hard hitting wall of sound using 90 percent software seeing as I lack a space for hardware and loud studio sounding recordings?

Good grief. Everyone thinks differently and hears differently. My ears do not like what they are hearing here. That's a lot of compression and you definitely hear the reverb in the mix. Add to that the saxophone tone isn't so hot to begin with. I don't think you got it right here by any means. Sorry to be a little negative but to each his own. Good on you for sharing your thoughts. I think if you compare this to really good recorded sax sounds you'll see that this is not really an example that hold up. Sanborn, Nelson Rangell, any of the great studio alto players wouldn't want to hear themselves replicated like this. Just my two cents, do not take is personally.

Question for you. I edited some drums in Luna and when I exported them and dropped them into logic they don't start at the right time. The drums don't land on the grid. They are in time if you slide them onto the grid, but I can't figure out why they aren't in sync. I made sure the play head was at the very start of the audio file when exporting. I'm stumped
@HomeRecordingNetworkАй бұрын
This is definitely user error. Not sure what you are doing but maybe you are not bouncing from the beginning of the song? The grids should line up exactly.
@easternsouvenirsАй бұрын
@@HomeRecordingNetwork Thanks for the reply. I've tried exporting the stems from the start and from a bar before the drums start--same issue in both cases where the start doesn't line up where it should. Found a similar problem mentioned in a forum on UA's website. Sounds like an uninstall/reinstall might fix the issue.

Now that I know this, I find it tempting to add a 150Hz low-cut on the sides on the master bus of all my tracks from now on, because why not? Are there instances where this should not be done really? (Talking about pop songs here, not some crazy experimental stuff)

It’s a great video. However, in my opinion just quantizing everything to a grid will not make your song sound its best. It is the “industry standard” but doing it manually using your ears and not changing every minute detail will sound better than the industry standard. Unless you like the sound of computer perfection, many do.

at 4:19 why are only some of your tracks dark colored?

That’s because those tracks are just slightly larger than the other ones. If I expanded the others they would be colored and show the slicing markers as well.

Luna looks cool and I love UAD plugins, but that’s not quite enough to get me to change DAWs. I’ve heard their product sales pitch that there are uniquenesses to Luna’s bus-only “analog summing,” but is there really any sonic difference between Luna’s built-in summing and just using a plugin on a bus in Logic? I own the Studer emulation from UAD, and dropping that on a stereo drum bus should more or less produce the same result. As I tweak plugin chains for specific roles (vocal chain, guitars, bass, drums, and stereo buses for each type), I just save them in Logic as presets as starting points for mixing. I tend to favor UAD native and PSP plugins (love analog fatness and shimmer) for most things. Given the limitless possibilities I already have in Logic, why would I need Luna? Again, it looks pretty and I’m sure it sounds great. It probably does exactly what I would need a DAW to do, since I’m a classic rock dude forever ensnared in nostalgia. But why would I need this? Also, being a Mac guy since 1987, Logic is the DAW most likely to remain supported by Apple hardware, since it’s theirs, and likely to run well within their closed software-hardware ecosystem. The fewer potential problems maintaining a system over time, the better. And since the advent of the M-series ARM-based SoCs, we are quickly reaching overkill computing performance for audio engineering. So … am I wrong? If someone can offer a truly compelling reason to switch to Luna, I’m all ears.

Hi Steve thank you so much for the information about this platform. I love it. I have a question, I use logic pro, and I've been using it for about 15 years, but I'm starting using Luna recently and right the moment I noticed that Luna offers more depth on the tracks by allowing to add more volume without distortion. Also you can push the plugins much more on Luna. Am I right?
@HomeRecordingNetwork3 ай бұрын
Hey bud, I don’t think that is true. I have been a logic user for over 15 years as well. I actually went back to logic because I just feel it is a better overall DAW and I am way more comfortable in it. That being said, LUNA is definitely a great DAW and you should for sure try it. I still use LUNA for drum editing currently because it works much better than Logic for that.

I find it to be one of the most useful plug-ins that I have. I do a lot of multi-mic and stereo mic techniques, and it’s a huge time-saver. Some examples: 1) when I run bass mic and also a di , it easily locks the two together. 2). To keep depth in drums, run stereo overheads separately. That way you still get the depth. Run the, snare, and Toms together, but run the stereo overheads separately. That way you get the depth of the rooms. Leave mono rooms as is. 3). When stereo guitar micing, I use it to get the two mics exactly in phase. And auto-align lets you manually adjust so you can see how the tracks sounds when in phase.
