You forgot the most important part, where are your drives in the final system because there is no way you have that many drives in that Thermaltake case.

You guys are just not getting how to design for FDM. Instead of drawing walls, start with a solid block and bool subtract just enough area for the inner components and ventilation. It will be much sturdier, arguably easier to manufacture, and with much fewer spots sith still air to gather dust and spiderwebs.

warning for people using pcbway, its about $600 usd to print. its actually more expensive than just buying a prefabricated drive enclosure off of a used server site or from a pc recycler

Here's an idea for a branch off this: you could have the lid support mounting of an ITX MB and the PS. You may need to lose some drives to get that to work but it would allow for a single case NAS.

Thanks for this video. I use my computer as not only a gaming rig but a digital audio workstation (DAW). Working with audio often requires an OS/DAW/plugin drive, a drive to record to, and a drive to load samples from. Add in a Windows 10/11 dual drive boot system, game and storage drives and suddenly there is a lot of power draw to consider. Counting HDDs, SSDs, NVMEs, case bays, 5.25" to 3.5"/2.5" adapters, NVME slots in motherboard, NVME adapter PCI-e card, and a SATA controller expansion card and I have room for about 21 drives. I prefer doing this as connections to the motherboard should produce less latency and connecting external enclosures requires more space, external power, wires, etc., as well as increased latency due to USB connections. The drawback to making everything internal in the system is more stress will be put on the 1300 watt Seasonic Prime Gold power supply and, to a lesser extent, the APC ups, which, at 900 watts/1500 VA, is probably not quite enough to support this wattage of power supply for any considerable period of time. Unfortunately, that is APC's currently highest rated consumer grade unit. Your in depth analysis has been really helpful when figuring out how to run so many drives safely in a consumer grade EATX tower PC case. Thanks again.

I watched your video. Enjoyed it! I don't want to violate any licenses etc; however, if I wanted to make some modifications to the case files you stored on thingiverse for a particular specific need I have, can the stl files just be edited in any cad software like FreeCAD? Again, I am not looking cause any troubles...

Well made video only one real mistake you have made is its not a NAS (Network Attached Storage) which connects to your network router, its in fact a JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks) which has to be connected to a computer to use, so will be confusing to newer viewers.

Would love to see a video like this with VMAF ratings for the output video of different hardware encoders. How much better does the newer implementations of the quick sync encoder look than my i7-2600? I don't care how many transcodes I can fire off. I care about video quality. No one has measured that with an objective metric like VMAF.

Would you recommend doing an interview with this recorder by holding it in my hand and moving it between me and my interviewee - would it pick up the sound well without the lapel mic and be able to have both of us record our voices in the same clip with the one recorder?

Love your Plex videos, would you mind doing an updated version of these videos for 2023-2024? I am taking a similar journey to what you had with your plex boxes, but I never did use external drives. First I started just using my gaming rig for plex, but then I moved to a Dell R720 with dual E5-2667-v2 CPUs and 192 gigs of ram. It has been running okay, but if I wanna give more access to my friends in plex it cannot handel it. I do have a small GTX 745 that can help with transcodes, but now I am building an EYPC 7601 box for plex. I need to decide what GPU to add to it for more transcodes, and I know the P2000 is still somewhat relevant, but older at this point. Keep up the great plex videos!
