*Watching this, and knowing this is a realistic portrayal of aerial combat, it is crazy to see how incredible damage even a single 30 mm round is doing to an aircraft, least alone a burst of them.*

Hypothetically, another reason could be considered to keep the attack on the aircraft carrier secret. The fact that the Cold War was still very much in force and not wanting to prove that a NATO aircraft carrier could be hit in that way. It is also possible that the Argentine pilots had been ordered to maintain their version by order of commanders in chief. In both cases, history has shown that secrets of this size can be kept for a long time, for example, the CIA operation to recover the Russian submarine with the Hughes Glomar Explorer. In any case, neither version alters the facts in a significant way, nor would it have changed the outcome at that point in the war. But...the explanation is still pending as to why the English planes sought altitude, as if to save fuel, and at the same time their activity was reduced in the following days. The same with the delay of the aircraft carrier to return to its base and that when it did, it was, apparently, freshly painted unlike the rest of the fleet that showed on its hulls the consequences of having spent so long at sea. Let this debate remain unresolved, after so much time, we can now speak of a legend, and legends never hurt anyone.

Cuerva makes two wrong decisions that would lead the Mirage to disaster. The first is when, more than 20 miles away, Perona warns him that one of his enormous 1700lt tanks had not been released, which destroyed the maneuverability and speed of the Mirage, Cuerva far away. to make the correct decision, which was to withdraw... he ordered him to continue and descend to the height of the harriers (at a lower altitude the Mirage's performance worsened drastically). Finally, he rushed to reach the Argentine port when he should have previously coordinated his arrival with the radar operator to clear the runway for emergency landing and give the order not to fire at the anti-aircraft batteries... All of this is evident, it is not said just because Cuerva was killed and they do not want to blame him for anything.

Very cool story. I know DCS only have limited specific variants to choose from, hence my question, do you maybe know which F-16 variant was used in this mission?

Thanks for another comment! The 77th FS was flying F-16CJ Block 50. That's pretty close to what we have in DCS.
I dont recall asking if my air support request was politically correct after calling it in. Lol. Awesome video my friend. Loved it. Good to know air force pilot supported some marines.

Well done to that pilot.. And again I always think the F-16 gets overlooked too often for its combat record.. It's always the F-14, F-15 and F/A-18 we hear about.. The F-16 is the real workhorse...

Dad...How do we Americans Indian get our names? Well son, after a child is born the 1st animal you see is how do it, when I was born grandpaw walked outside and saw an eagle flying so I was named "Soaring Eagle"...Why do you ask "Two Dogs F@*king"? If you are offended, don't get mad at me, its not mine and is a very old joke and if I'm not mistaken that is how LtCol Dan Hamptons full call sign because with a tan he looks/looked like a Native American Indian My favorite call sign that was painted on a US Navy T-45C was a guy called LtCmdr John Steele....and the call sign was "Dicka"
