Don't you short out the amplify if you're running both channels and connected to one terminal both wireless are touching
@RELAcoustics
@RELAcoustics Сағат бұрын
Thank you for reaching out. When connecting using the High Level input there will be no wires making contact with more than one amplifier terminal at a time. One wire will connect directly to one positive binding post, a second wire to the other positive binding post, and a third wire connected to a ground point. As a result, as long as you practice a normal amount of caution then there will be no risk of shorting your amplifier by using the High Level input connection.

All the How To videos helped in setting up my REL Acoustics T/Zero MKIII Subwoofer. I was able to hear the difference and do the tuning at each stage. Apartment living prevents me from going with a bigger sub for a fuller sound. With the tuning I am quite happy with the Kef Q550 speakers and the Rel I have. Thanks for all the videos.

Hey there John, im so glad i found this Video. It makes perfect sense now! I just bought my T/7X (my very first Sub) and as i'm a music producer i just have one small Amp (Bryston 2B) and as i use Amphion One 18 Speakers, i dont listen really loud (therefore also my choice of the T7X). As i was confused on how to connect the Sub i wrote to Thomann the Music store before and the told me i should connect my Amp to the Sub and then Back to the Speakers, which is not possible with the T*X Subs so i was really confused how to do it. I thought i need to buy another Amp and connect this to the Sub but then how do i connect the out to the Sub and the AMP, Y-Split cable ?? etc etc but this Video man, the solution is so simple and easy that i would never thought of this. So thanks again you saved my day (and the money for another Amp :)

Thank you for supporting REL, and we are glad that this video helped to answer your questions about connecting the High Level cable for the T/7x! As the video shows, both the High Level cable for your T/7x and your main speaker wire will be connected together to the output terminals on your system's main power amplifier.

I've been running both high-level and .1 LFE's on my stereo pair of T5i's, and after disconnecting the high-level connections to do some .1 LFE speaker levelling, I realised only one of the subwoofers was working! Which told me both subwoofer inputs are probably running parallel, meaning that both running the same way. Even though my arcam avr20 apparently is able to do four independent subwoofer outputs, however that's with dirac live bass management! Perhaps when finances become available the Rel 3D HT will be for the near future. Therefore in the meantime I was wondering would be beneficial for my particular 5.2.4 setup to implement a Y-Splitter ? Any advice would be appreciated! Cheers

Thank you for reaching out. If you have found that one of the subwoofer outputs on you AVR is not functioning correctly, then you could use an RCA y-cable so that both of your T/5is receive signal from the same functional subwoofer output on the receiver.

I have exactly the opposite problem from the one described in this video: I'm getting a pair of AirPulse A300 Pro powered monitors (by Edifier) in about six weeks, and I'm super-excited about them but they don't reach down *quite* far enough, so I need a REL. But I live in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where the default construction technique is poured concrete, and my listening room is only 270cm across the front by about 470cm deep, with neighbors cozily proximate. Seems to me the T5/x might be ... almost ... too much?

The High Level input on our subwoofers is only intended for use with passive speakers, where the High Level cable can connect to the power amplifier's main speaker output terminals. How will Cutting the 3rd prong kill you?
@RELAcoustics
@RELAcoustics 24 күн бұрын
Removing the third prong of a power cord will defeat the device's safety grounding, which in a worst-case scenario can result in physical injury especially with high-powered devices such as an audio amplifier. Removing the third prong of the power cord can also result in performance issues for the subwoofer, and will void it's manufacturer's warranty.
@xtraflo

@@RELAcoustics My question is "How will it injure you?" I realize there's a Grounding issue and possible fire hazzard - but how will kill you Directly??
@RELAcoustics
@RELAcoustics 23 күн бұрын
@@xtraflo If you defeat the safety grounding for the subwoofer's amplifier through the third prong of it's power cord, then in the event of a rare malfunction with the amplifier it is possible to voltage to build up within the subwoofer since it no longer has a ground return path through the power cord. Then when you touch any metal surface on the subwoofer, your body will become the "path to ground" and the built-up voltage will travel into your body. This is very rare, but can result in damage to the subwoofer or physical injury in a worst-case scenario. The third prong of the power cord is a safety feature, and removing it will not only void the subwoofer's warranty, but will also make you liable for any potential injury.

@@Cleric996 The T7/x is better because you can connect High Level to the Center Channel output on your amp. If you went with the HT you would have to connect to the Center Out RCA and not all processors have pass through like that. I have dialed the 98 in using 3 different sets of speakers so far. (1set at a time) It just does an amazing job! Small adjustments for each speaker. So far Sansui SP 300, Ohm Walsh 1's, and for 2 days ESS AMT 1 B's. The set of Vandersteen 2 C's will be next. Almost afraid to dial the 2 C's in as they will need to rotate out for the cooler months because of a fire place and the grill design. The 98 and I can only imagine the 99 are a home run. Where do we acquire best media, possibly certified, to play thru our systems that would be our standard or reference. Where do we go to hear a 98% perfect system with the perfect media? I think my system and room is only 80% and the next 10% is a major battle to achieve and the next 9% would all out acoustical and financial war. So, I have ask you Mr. Hunter, what if happen I could earn the funds needed to buy/install/tune your REL sub(s) in my room; would I get that tight blast of a cannon shot during a movie or the perfect vibrational feel of a Timpani drum or a pleasing note from a Double Bass? Thank you for reaching out, and for supporting REL Acoustics. The best option for listening to a top-level audio system in a well-treated room is to visit a dealer in your area, and a full listing of authorized REL dealers can be found on our REL.net website. Fortunately today there are many options for finding high-quality source material, though generally speaking digital files downloaded to a hard-drive, or physical media such as a CD or Blu-Ray disc, will provide the highest fidelity of playback quality. At the end of the day, your ears will be the best judge for determining if your own home audio system sounds as good as it can in your own listening environment, and provides as much enjoyment as possible.

Thank you for reaching out, and that is correct. Thank you for reaching out. Since you are using active speakers, it will be best to connect using a standard RCA-to-RCA cable from the subwoofer output jack on the speaker to the Low Level input on the REL subwoofer. @RELAcoustics
@RELAcoustics Ай бұрын
@@Gragon There isn't an inherently correct or incorrect way, and the ideal choice will depend on your active speakers and your own personal preference. If you wish to use the Crossover filter within the REL to tune it's output to blend with the main loudspeakers, then connecting to the Low Level input will be the best choice. If you wish to use the filtering options (if any) within your active speakers, and to bypass the REL's Crossover filter, then the .1/LFE input will be the best choice. We recommend connecting to the Low Level input, though the best option will be to try both and see whichever sounds best to you and in your room.

Is the high level input a differential input? Or is the negative terminal hooked up to ground? I want to attach my REL to two monoblocks (with differential/balanced amps) and I'm worried about shorting them out.
@RELAcoustics
@RELAcoustics Ай бұрын
Thank you for reaching out. The High Level input for our subwoofers is not a differential connection, and the black wire of the High Level cable does need to be connected to an electrical ground reference point. In addition, it unfortunately is not possible to safely connect a single subwoofer using it's High Level input to two monoblock amplifiers at the same time. Doing so will often result in a significant ground hum which can be near-impossible to eliminate, and in a worst-case scenario can result in damage to the subwoofer and/or the monoblock amplifiers. Stereo pairs of subwoofers can be connected High Level to monoblock amplifiers, with one subwoofer assigned to each amp, though with a single subwoofer we instead recommend connecting using the Low Level input to open outputs on your preamp. For more information about connecting your REL in this system, feel free to write in to [email protected] and we will be happy to assist.

Thank you for reaching out. The High Level input on our subwoofers is designed to not place any current load on the amplifier, and to not draw any amplifier power away from the system's main loudspeakers. Instead it will only be drawing a small amount of voltage to then be fed and amplified through the subwoofer's own built-in amplifier. As a result, the High Level input can certainly be connected to and used with 25 watt amplifiers.
