I too acquired one of these with little knowledge of Lomax or Citroen 2CVs - you will have to get used to Citroen's odd engineering, as well as working out what the kit builder got right or wrong. The good news is that yours appears to be on a replacement chassis, and that it is correctly registered. Some form of anti-roll is recommended, as it makes the handling better, and if stiff enough, completely eliminates any need for linked rear suspension. You have a lot of work ahead of you, but it will be worth it - I still enjoy mine after 27 years of ownership.

Lower spring cups upside down on the rear😅😅 I did look through the comments to see if anyone else noticed, glad you found it. The dome part is meant to sit up inside the spring to keep it located on the cup, explains why it is so high on the rear a well.

I thought coil overs were adjustable, Was there no thread left to raise them? A longer single rate spring instead of the two springs (one stiff one soft) would probably give a better ride on the coil over dampers. The soft spring looks like it is wasting all the adjustability and just compressing to the point of being coil bound before the stiff spring gets to do anything.

First video clearly showing the parts I’m having an issue with, this gave me so much hope. Do you have any idea where I can find those bolts today? Also, if you had to do this again would you do anything different to make it quicker/easier?

My Dad built one of these in the 80s and as a kid I helped (a bit). His was more standard than yours, Dark Green colour, all the engine cooling ducts removed, chrome straight through exhaust system with a cherry bomb, Original 2CV gear lever and the flared wings rather than cycle ones, aero screens and tonneau cover only, inboard disc brakes. At the time the best seats to fit were Renault 5 items which were plentiful back then, ours were black vinyl which was good for rainy days. A factory option ours had was a bar welded across the rear suspension arms so despite having one wheel, it used both suspension sides to provide support. Good luck, these are fun to drive if somewhat alarming!

Mainly a Toyota guy here, but dipping back into the Volkswagen world via Scirocco interest, and found your channel. Love the car and presentation in the videos. Good choice with these white wheels. The MK3 Supra I had also had a set of white wheels which were a good match too. 👍

I wonder why people call them 'coilovers' as if they're different than the stock setup, which is also coilovers. I have a 79 and an 83 scirocco

Seeing the Mini parked next to the Abarth and Betty is really an eye opener for how big newer cars have gotten. Great video btw! :D

I did chuckle when you commented on the fixed seat and ideal height.. I used to drive a lot if LR’s from series 2 on in the military with no probs… oh I’m 6’8” (that’s 203cm for the younger people..🤣).

Cars like these are why we always had chamois demister pads in almost every jacket! First thing I ever drove, age 12, was a Land Rover (on a farm) and I've not stopped driving since, 36 years later.

The early Minis are great aren't they. The design (by Sir Alec Issigonis) has an amazing amount of space for it's size. I love them. However Katie, I believe there is fore and aft adjustment on the seats (likewise on the Morris Minor). Even my 1936 Austin Seven Ruby (an ancestor of the Mini) has an adjuster on each front seat. My modern car is a 1983 Ford Escort 1.1 L (Mk 3) whose name is Katy. It starts on the button and drives really well. No power steering, no electric windows, no central locking. It will take 4 (at a pinch 5) people and luggage in reasonable comfort, even on long journeys (400 miles). I don't need a new car.

I hope you do more reviews, because that was really good! I do think a younger person, especially one who is a mechanic, brings a different perspective to cars. When I was in the 6th form, one of the lads had a Mini and when we were all 18 (honest guv) we used to zip off to the pub on a friday lunchtime. Despite all of us being around 6ft, it never felt too small, and carving around the local roads even at 20mph, it just felt like a really fun car. They just make you feel happy, and other road users too!
