This is... Super cool! I'm recovering from art burnout (it's been sooo long since I've done any art), and honestly I hadn't considered using my KZbin for art! But that could be super fun... I do like making videos.

love the hobonichi weeks planner because i feel like it's great for people who don't need to write or plan so much. there's also less pressure to utilize every space in the planner compared to a cousin

As someone who has been just not a big social media person in general, it is so overwhelming just to figure out which platform to be on as an artist. I want to get myself out there, but it’s hard when I just suck at posting/keeping a consistent schedule with art. I feel like I really have to hype my art up and shove it into people’s faces and I’m just not that sort of person honestly. I’m an introverted awkward artist that has an identity crisis when it comes to art style, and it seems like social media isn’t necessarily that sort of thing for me. I’m trying my best, but with AI art going on now, it’s really hard to actually be fine with posting my art now… I’m just at such a loss. I will say that this video helps though, I think I’ll try Cara out and see how I like it, cause it sounds really nice honestly!

I make a print version of my comic and sell merch of characters from my comic at conventions and a bit online and for me that's been going well. I've tried ko-fi and patreon but they seem so overwhelming to me 😔maybe one day i'll try and do that

Edit:I still have my IG account but I hadn't done anything with it in almost 3 years now I mostly just use it to check what others had posted since you will need one to see their accounts.

Hello, curious, what made you go with Comicfury instead of other platforms? Thank you.. 😊
@latteswiirlАй бұрын
what i liked most about comicfury that made me make it my main comic platform is its ease to set up (especially with the premade website layouts), the lack of ads (the site is supported if users VOLUNTARILY opt in to display ads on their comic sites), its anti-AI policies, and while its community is smaller than other bigger comic sites it still has so much charm, not to mention it does have its own thriving community! big recommend ^^✨

the title should be "struggles of ME being a comic artist" please dont generalize it and speak for others. I am a comic artist for many years and I dont agree with most of this . I publish around 1 full colored page per day (sometimes 2 , its faster to work in batches) for many years (I think my current fancomic has now 3k pages and is ongoing) , the thing with how to sit is true but with struggles in programs or so you need the right program and you need to develop speed. for example I use clip studio paint, and people use the paneling mode for this. I think it is way to hindering and hassle, using vector squares is faster. using vector lines is also way faster lets you color fill with bucket in heck of speed without white pixels and you can even sketch one thing over the other and erase still the above lines on the same layer with one tiny swipe. I have absolutely NO empathy for people who refuse to use bucket tool...for whatever reasons just "because" (heard it even from friends) their outcome looks just the same as with bucket, while bucket tool makes it be filled in 1 second while the manual drawing takes them 10 minutes for one area.... You do as I snooped into your comic mixed like webcomic style (which is always pretty cheap if you go webtoonz having often no backgrounds or just gradients or just simple flat color) but you also do lots of complex backgrounds that take longer. But knowing of some who skip all backgrounds I just can't understand how they take so long. preparations take way too much time , some people write it first all down, then they make whole like storybook things and all these things..why? just have it in your head on replay like a movie, no need for anything else. i also dont understand people and their bad time management. for example : other people watch tv in evening. instead you can draw the comic page. mine take about 2-4 hours whicih is like 1-2 movies (and each day is a bit much thats my issue of constantly having to update, but others do maybe 3 pages in a week which is fine) so i dont get if people say they got no time at all..xD Back then it worked when i had long school, now i work and it also works. so.... But again i cant also speak for everyone but there are occasions that are easier and i shake my head of people doing so much hassle. to say this counts of private projects. NOt about things you sell. that is a whole other level
@latteswiirlАй бұрын
it's not a generalization it's a youtube video title lol. sorry but anyone with the smallest amount of critical thinking skills would understand that i'm only talking about my own experience. xD and my experiences here are obviously not unique, they're shared by lots of people! while i never claimed to speak for everyone, you can't speak for everyone either, especially because your experience is obviously very unique. i totally agree that there are a lot of people who claim to not have enough time but then don't manage their time well, but you also have no idea what other people have going on in their lives so you really can't make a judgment like that. that's awesome tho that this is a pretty easy journey for you and you don't experience a lot of these setbacks! happy comic making!

i spent a whole month making a 24-page short comic, and guess what no body saw it because I am not a 'big' artist. I guess what's more important is to improve and make art for fun. I learnt my lesson to not post works online and just focus self entertainment.

Getting hyper focused on drawing is an issue I have that causes me to forget to do other things! That’s why I like drawing on my iPad Pro, because when it’s battery or my Apple pencil’s battery is low, it helps force me to take a break and get up to do something active like dancing!💚✨

While I have loads of ambitions including comic creation, I'm currently focusing on creating KZbin Videos instead. Though as a kid I had dreamed of being a Manga artist, similar to what your doing now! It's quite insightful to see how laborious it is to consistently create comic pages and I commend you for that! It's lovely to see your passion for your projects and I wish you the best in fulfilling your goals and hopefully making some bank along the way! ~Neku💖

Good to hear from you again, Latteswiirl~ I'm not a comic artist, but as a regular character artist/content creator, I do relate to a few of these 1:05 I FEEL THIS!! Especially when it comes to finishing up a video that I'm really proud of, and scheduling it to go up in a month~ Heck, sometimes I feel really confident about it from the content ALONE, before I've even started the editing process. Plus, even when a drawing or video IS published, I often don't see any views for the first few hours of posting it, which really hurts my ego's need for instant recognition 😅 Like, come on- I worked on this drawing for 3 hours - surely SOMEONE must like it!! 3:15 This is one of the barriers I have when it comes to drawing specific scenarios. Like, I have a general idea if what I want to draw, but I get hung up on those little details - and, like you, I just generally wing it! Especially considering that most settings I draw are completely random that I don't plan on coming back to- I probably should start thinking about standard settings 5:15 I've only made a handful of comics in my time, and not even in a LOOONG time, but I can understand wanting interesting paneling! I've seen utterly gorgeous manga paneling, and I'm really happy to hear they're inspiring to you 6:15 Can't relate to this either, but considering the low pay that artists receive... yeah- And why would Patreon shut down the per creation option? That's so dumb!! 7:50 I 👏 FEEL 👏 THIS! Honestly a lot of times I feel very discouraged at how long it takes me to draw even a single scene- this is primarily the reason why I don't draw comics or animate 10:15 Ooooh, I can't wait for the giveaway Thank you for sharing your struggles with us~ Personally my biggest struggles are: 1: procrastinating (literally all the time), and 2: trying to perfect my artstyle - I want to start making my stories more "official" but I want my artstyle to be the best it can be before fully starting, and I often find myself criticizing something about it as I draw, and so I procrastinate even more 😅 By the way, the comic panel looks so lovely~ I love seeing eceryone sit at the table, enjoying their lunch~ If it weren't for the trays, it would remind me of Thanksgiving - the holiday everyone seems to forget 😅 It's so pretty~ Well done
@latteswiirlАй бұрын
thank you dr. volk!! 🥹✨ i feel that too, sometimes i even only just finish the THUMBNAIL (not the actual video) and i already have this sense of accomplishment and i also want ppl to see it (when all i have is the thumbnail) xD and yes i have to restrain myself from looking at the analytics too much, especially in the very beginning ^^' patreon shut down that option bc of it's part of their working to be in compliance with apple's ios app rules so they can keep their app in the app store. so it's kind of apple's fault lol -_-' i can empathize hugely with the procrastination and wanting to get your art to the best place before starting, i'm still trying to balance that feeling with the actual starting of the things i want to do lol ;w; and thank you i'm glad you enjoyed it!✨ i hope you enjoy the rest of the comic~ 🫶

The posture one id really funny to me, since I don't have space in my room for a desk, and have instead opted to draw while laying down which I'll admit, while comfy, probably isn't the best on my neck or wrists lol(I'm also more prone to falling asleep while working lol)
