Great review brother. Quick question for you. Do you think there is much of a difference for use cases for mag pin vs mag peg? Apart from the length? I am wanting a solution for holding lever arms in starting positions and am thinking mag pegs just because they are a little longer. Would you trust 1 more than the other from a strength and hold perspective?
@carps_gym
@carps_gym 8 күн бұрын
@@hk_1811 you should be fine with the mag pins because the newer ones are 5.5 inches the original version was only 4.5. With a 5.5 it works great with lever arms

Oakclub with the custom colors and their pin came out to 732.20. just under the 800 before custom/duty kick in. Surplus strength is 572.80 with their pin. So I been sitting these 160 delta and can't decide which way to go. it's 3-6 weeks for Oakclub. I can't get an answer from Surplus Strength on ship time.

I agree for an entry level combo gym its not bad but i would never buy anything that wobbles that much. Sure it held up for a workout, but how often does it need tightening between workouts?
@carps_gym
@carps_gym 18 күн бұрын
I never had to re-tighten anything as far as the bolts in the structure, but the cables will stretch out overtime as you use it so they have multiple holes to make their increase the cable tension so you may have to increase the tension as the cables stretch out

Great review! During COVID I was lucky to get a cheap Marcy functional trainer with a Smith machine and after rigging it up to my liking over the last few years, I have not even picked up a barbell in my home gym in over 2 years! I lean towards bodybuilding and not much powerlifting, so it has been a perfect transition as I cross over the 40-year-old mark and some of my joints don't feel as good as they used to!

Lots in one package. Liked the hack squat attachment. Didn’t love the movement of the rack. I think for someone not looking to lift super heavy, this could be a solid option. You nailed it that the spotter arms need to be lengthened.

@@BrimhallBarbellClub yeah that hack squat thing was cool. I could see beefier version of it being popular. Yeah the spotter arms arms are really useless at this point because if you fail a lift, you’re gonna be out further than the spotter arms.

The lever squat rack attachment looks really cool much much better than lever belt squat attachement i Hope more companies will develop it for all types of racks. Personally i never felt the utility of a functionnal trainer because all the best pulley exercises like pulldowns, pull over, low row, biceps and triceps isolations and shoulder raises are well covered by a single high/low pulley that is usually more compact and cheaper. I feel functionnal trainers are for those that swear by chest flies and really misses them but i always found it was a pretty useless and boring exercise. I like smith machines for upper body exercises though and i appreciate it coming back popular

I ordered one for my UDA handles. Curious what you think of this versus a dedicated pulldown handle. Are there any downsides? I know the handles are wider than typical, but not sure if this would actually be a plus or not while using a hook grip (as opposed to my full thumb). Does the 5 degree angle feel right for wider pulldowns?
