This was super helpful! i got a titanium finish Rg hi nu from a giveaway and i knew sanding was out of the question but my knife skills are okay. ive had a hobby knife but like you said its too big so i looked up the nt cutter and found one on amazon it should be arriving in the next few days!

Would it be safe to use these as markers without a mask? Or would the fumes still be too strong?

Honestly, I like the open hands because it lets me pose it in surprised poses and stuff like that. a sword pose would be pretty limiting because of the lack of wrists, and a rifle would work, though require more parts to be layered properly. Also, was able to get it last year second hand on international suru for 500yen, so it might still occasionally pop up in second hand stores!

whoa! once again I find myself on re-run, and somehow I think I've gotten to where I might just get this kit for its classic-ish speed-racer-ish motif/shapes. I should mention though that the alternate options for the backpack was never mentioned here, and would have been interesting to know more since the manual scan from dalong does not indicate anything further than building either of these options, as opposed to the c5 or c6 that indicate which option corresponds to a variant. EDIT: one more thing about that backpack booster, it should have been white like the biceps and thighs - the robot spirits ver anime has this in its proper color.

Hi good day. I want to ask a question again: Are you familiar with DSPIAE Soft Tipped Acrylic Markers? I have a problem with Hasbro Studio Series 86 Optimus Prime. The item came with a QC paint issue in the eye. It wasn't fully painted. It's baby blue/sky blue color. Do you think it can be easily fix by putting over a DSPIAE MK-11 Sky Blue marker over it or do I need to remove the existing paint by Hasbro and redo the color on all surface? If there's a Gundam Marker that emulates the same sky blue/baby blue color, do you know which one? And do I need to apply a clear top coat over the applied acrylic from DSPIAE Marker? I hope you can answer right away. Thanks

I actually really love the proportions of this model! I kind of hope they remake the mark 2 with these proportions sometime down the road, just like what they did with the recent new old rx-78 release

The only thing I hate about stickers is the peeling....bought a second hand MG 1.0 Nu Gundam and the funnel stickers are all peeling at the edges on an otherwise really great condition build. I also had to end up peeling off the wing trim stickers on my GEP Zeta, clean up all the sticky gunk and then paint it because of all the peeling at the edges.

The Katoki design isn't actually older. The one from the movie is much closer to the original line art from the novel from 1989 IIRC. They changed some of the proportions though.

I personally think including beams for the sabers for once was a step in the right direction personally. It feels wrong that a decent chunk of the other EG kits make the hilts be pure decoration. Of course, it also feels wrong not having an EG Zaku kit to go with the RX-78-02. Part of the fun for me is setting up "standoff" style pictures with the Gunpla between them with different weapons and poses. Why? Because said pictures look cool once you get everything just right.

I'm convinced that Syd Mead's gundam design was heavily restricted by one-trick-tomino's ground rules for Gundam. after seeing a lot of the original sketches/artwork and some of the related interviews, it was pretty clear that Syd was more proud of the Turn X, Wodom, Mobile Flat and Sumo designs, the Sumo being Syd's initial Gundam sketch. in addition, these kits suffered from bandai's limitations in this era - with arguably the saddest box layout of any gunpla series - it's destined to be DOA. I can just imagine how divine it would be to have the Flat and Wodom rendered by current Bandai with all the intricate details.

A bit harsh. Clearly these are aimed at kids & adolescents whose means are parent dependent, adults on a tight budget or those who don't want to spend too much whilst they dip their toes into the modelling world water. When I was a kid, we couldn't afford the luxury of sprue cutters. So for anyone on a no or low fixed income for whom even a set of basic Tamiya cutters is budget stretch too far, these entry level Bandai nippers are A. inexpensive, B. do the job removing the parts from the sprue easily & without damage, C. being made in Taiwan are a safe bet to be better than many alternative generic mainland Chinese cheapies for the same money or more, and D. better than not having any sprue cutter. Even with good cutters, I have four pair, I'd never abuse the cutter blade scraping any residual gate if the cut wasn't clean. Which brings me to you point on that. Having to clean up finer parts with a hobby blade if unable to cut flush cleanly right to the sprue gate where it's attached to the part is a non issue really. A modicum of the most basic modelling skill and a sharp new blade in a one's preferred hobby knife (Tamiya OEM OLFA or OLFA for me) affects that easily enough with minimal effort.

Try using Liquid Mask Sol on the ball joints - that should fix them up. I think that the RG looks a bit too busy with those armour cut-outs and loses with the gaps in the links in the arms.

I picked him up a few days ago and I have a love hate relationship with it, obsolete joints and it can barely support holding the valuable pod accessories. But, I still give it kudos for its sheer "presence", just because its a smidge bigger than most other HG kits, and it still overall has that nice anime-esque proportions that I would at least give points to this kit over the Revive.

Zgok not being successful hurts. It's a great kit and the others deserve their own rg design!
