I felt in love with this series after watching your Kenbu review. I’ve built the Kenbu, Boomrang, Jogan and two ASC trucks so far lol. Just picked up the Amaim Ghost today!

Glad I spread the love! I really love the kits in the line a lot and it's so exciting to see Bandai do things seriously outside of Gundam lines. Kinda sad most English reviewers don't seem that interested in them though

Honestly the "over the top" -ness of the sniper rifle is not very far fetched at all. Take a look at the M50 Ontos, a tiny Vietnam War vehicle with SIX cannons that looks so ridiculous, but it still did pretty well in combat. IN FACT, the clip shown in the review just shows that the rifle really is just as "grounded" as the rest: at 16:25 you can see that the upper barrel is smooth bore, while the bottom is rifled. Rifled barrels generally offer more accuracy, but not all rounds are compatible with it, and vice versa for the smooth bore. Plus, the Jogun is shown carrying two different types of ammo: APFSDS (Armor Piercing Fin Stablized Discarding Sabot, used in the smooth bore barrel as indicated by the "SBG" above the ammo type) and APHE (Armor Piercing High Explosive, which is used in the rifled barrel, as indicated by the "RG" above the ammo type), both of which are real types of ammunition used in tanks. Also, just like RK11787 said, the target type can really change what ammo you should use: the APFSDS is reserved for extremely armored units while the APHE can destroy lightly armored units more effectively. That ammo HUD is not purely gibberish and it seems at least some thought was put into the practical design of the rifle. I've been quite a fan of your reviews, so straight to the point and detailed. Just wanted to share my thoughts on the rifle. Gotta say, I'm more interested in these kits than I thought I would be, just a shame that those reused hands are going to plague most of the line....
@HobbyClubhouse2 жыл бұрын
Of course I don't mind the sharing of different views, it's great actually. I had to go look up the M50 Ontos though, didn't know that was a thing... How does that thing not get jerked around like crazy from the recoil of all those guns firing...

Crazy to see how they fix more issues with every new kit in the line. You'd think they were all designed and engineered at the same time. Now to hope the 4th kit finally fixes the hands. Shame the anime is really dissapointing so far.
@HobbyClubhouse2 жыл бұрын
I'm really curious what the extra trigger hand included with the Stork Carrier will be like. The Ghost might have better hands since it's the first non-MAILeS kit that has hands, strange as that is... Man, the animation is such a weird animal. The characters are simple characatures and the plot is wasting a lot of the interesting setting. There's that creepy nationalism thing that's still there too...

It'd be good if they made other Full Mechanics kits too, though I'm not holding my breath there

@@HobbyClubhouse I feel like the reason the Full Mechanics was made is because an MG would be in 1/35 scale, as seen with the MG Dunbine.

IMO the head looks like a head snake with 2 fangs, and Jogan like to hide itself for ambushing too. It looks perfectly suit design! And yes the design is slowly stray away from realistic, I'm sure you will mention it again when reviewing Ghost!
@HobbyClubhouse2 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, I've heard people mention the head is like a snake too, forgot about that. The Ghost will have to wait a bit though since I've spent all my review budget for the month 😂

I did find that the in universe designers knew that changing ammo makes more sense than regular people think. IRL Tanks have a wide variety of ammo types to deal with different threats. Imagine using fragmentation shot against an armored target when you should be using HESH (high explosive squash head) or APCR (armor piercing composite rigid) shots
@Fettley2 жыл бұрын
Right on the money! Amaims in this universe are akin to that of military tanks to a degree. With a Large caliber twin barrel sniper rifle, there is strategical benefits to having two seperate magazines. Relative to the Jogan's sniper rifle, all other Amaims tend to have smaller arms, so most would be outfitted with HEAT or HE equivalent rounds as an all-arounder, considering most of them are built for frontline assault, so they would need something that's as universal as possible! Perhaps they would have one or two magazines specially dedicated for tougher foes. Having a dedicated barrel for a specific ammo type (especially for a supporting sniping unit) would be beneficial in that the Jogan doesn't need to keep switching mags when engaging different targets with varying armor thicknesses (or lack thereof) If anything, firing two barrels with a High Explosive rounds or two Armor Piercing rounds amplify the damage caused. Either way, it's a win-win!
@HobbyClubhouse2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that part I get. Still gonna poke fun of it for a bit for carrying two guns onto the battlefield for that... Or maybe that doesn't really apply to robots, now that I think about it, since they can handle the extra weight...
@HobbyClubhouse2 жыл бұрын
Didn't really think the gun would lead to so much detailed discussion. This is all quite interesting
@Patrick-ep4vc2 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you were referring to this, but at 16:25 you can actually see the Jogun using two different ammo types (APFSDS and APHE). Another interesting point is that the two barrels are actually different: the upper is riffled (and you can see APHE is used there as indicated by the "RG" above the ammo type) whereas the bottom is smooth bore (which has APFSDS, indicated by the "SBG" above the ammo type). Honestly the anime is a bit ... interesting but it is really cool to see these random bits if detail.

Got any plans to review the other kits in the line like the truck and little transport planes? Also, you going to check out the Ghost when it drops? I'm just really curious how that thing is going to play out and hear your thoughts about it.

Does amaims head joint compatible with ibo line gundam?
@HobbyClubhouse2 жыл бұрын
Hm, I can't test it since I put my AMAIM in storage, but I imagine not. The ball joint should be bigger on these kits - the heads are certainly bigger so the size difference wouldn't play well together

You really need to pull the face guard from the chest up and you should feel a snap which means the pegs are up in a higher position. It does feel uncomfortable to feel that snap. Easy to think you broke it but you really didnt
