Great production! Puts the many ugly modern art stagings to shame, especially Bayreuth in Germany can't create this magic anymore it seems, not since the marvelous Karajan & BBC production.

The ending couldnt be butchered more... so bad. Sounds like a youth orchestra.

Better than anything you'd see at Bayreuth today. That's a shame - This production was masterful.

A captivating and extraordinary production. Much better by far than any staged by the Met.

I am surprised how everybody is amazed by this production. How important it obviously is that Wagner operas have to look like Fantasy with fairies, Heros, and dwarfes as expected from Hollywood. I understanding that its horrible if Wotan appears in pseudomodern or odd costume as much too often in Bayreuth. But here, neither Singers nor Orchestra play/sing the Music correctly. Being german Wagnerianer, it is so sad for me to hear them sing so incorrect german. There are many nongerman Wagnersingers, as fe Juha Uusitalo or Matti Salminen , who are singing so wonderful in German. But these singers do no effort. In every line false words, mistakes, its painful. And it is important to pronounce right as Wagner regarded himself poet same as composer. He choose every word and each letter for the sound of the words to match the music. This does not happen here. If you want a production with phantasy ,costumes, but REALLY amazing singers and conducter who understands Wagner watch Fura les Baus Rheingold Valencia.

Production much better than Bayreuth's this summer--shows respect for the composer's concepts. The orchestra played thrillingly.

I can't decide whether this realistic production is pleasant or ridiculous. Certainly, the orchestra is abysmal. SO off-pitch everything.

This looks and sounds so magical. Is this complete production of the ring cycle available on Blu-ray/DVD? I would love to see Die Walkure next.
