I was looking at the Takara while waiting on the DX9 pre-order to release. But, after the burn I just received from HASBRO with them discontinuing the Legacy Breakdown to complete my Menasor... AFTER A 2+ YEAR WAIT, I think I'd be justified to never support official releases ever again. Before I buy any of the KO versions, I research issues on both & try to find comparison videos like this. In most cases, I've found that the KO actually IMPROVES on the official. For instance: 1) Beast Wars Primal has a weaker waist that's prone to breakage on the official MP. 2) Beast Wars Megatron ab crunch is easier to pop open on the official. 3) Beast Wars Dinobot the mouth doesn't allow the teeth to drop on the KO, but the KO has better joints than the official. 4) The official MP 44 Optimus Prime has horrible knees that will shatter when trying to straighten out from a bend, this was corrected on the KO. These are just a few examples of fixes found on the KO versions. Anyone who knows about how manufacturing works, especially with toys or things moulded, will know that once you send something to China for production, they require you to give them unrestricted access ALL of your patents for that product. Therefore, these KOs are actually produced right after the original quantity is completed. They are the same moulds, same processes &, as mentioned above, repaired issues found during that original production run. I have several KO versions of the overpriced Takara release. But I also have several official releases over the KO. I have some that I'm waiting for the KO to see if certain issues are repaired & others that are of characters that I don't care for but are needed for display purposes. If someone prefers 1 over another, that's their preferences. Personally, I would rather have 3rd party than official or 4th party KO. DX9, X Trans-Bots, KFC & FansToys even though they're more overpriced than the official. BUT all of the 3p figures I have are much higher quality. Thank you so much for the comparison review. More of these are needed to help people make a better decision on what they want to support. I'll close with this statement: If Takara prices matched their quality, there would be no need for a KO. With the lower price point of the KO, expectations are more relaxed & there's not as much of a loss if a $40 toy breaks compared to a $200. Thank you again. GREAT review!!!
