With the force of pressure you have to use touch typing it sounds like a hole punch!

My aunt has one of these. For the longest time, I thought it was a toy. Never realized it was actually a typewriter. Not even sure it works anymore, but I'm gonna have to go photograph it!

Is this model made in Sweden or France?
@classicalsheetmusic19863 ай бұрын
I would assume it was made is Switzerland, since it has a QWERTY layout, instead of the French AZERTY. I could be wrong tho. It could've still been made in Switzerland.

I found a Remington Remette in my local antique store But I’m not able to get the carriage to move while typing It only moves when I press the space bar.

The Bennett looks to be 1930s or 1940s manufacture. I have never heard about this brand, and I've been collecting machines in the US for about 20 year. It must be a UK machine. The smallest typewriter normally available to US collectors remains the Corona folding typewriter of the Great War/1920s era. It's a neat little one. There is a vid on YT about these machines I'd link but YT does not allow links anymore.

I need to get mine restored! I found it for $80NZD at an antique store up the road from my parents' house. Very very dusty inside and not in a very usable state but it's an early one with round keys, and it still has the fancy little red stripe across the top.
@Ploddypop115 ай бұрын
Hi, I bought this exact model-1959 I believe-from a second hand store on Trademe a few years ago. I think it was about $26 NZD. I lost a couple of the springs so it has been sitting under my bed but am considering repairing it so I can try short story writing or some other kind of writing. I like the idea of doing that instead of being on the phone or other devices all weekend.
@Ploddypop115 ай бұрын
Actually, I've bought a few gems o Trademe over the years....The MINT early 70s F&P stereogram in 2007 for about $45, The also MINT late 70s super 8 film camera for about the same. In 2024, a lot of these old things are being sold for rediculous prices and you are very lucky to find a cheap bargain

Nice typers. No frills like tabs set/clear just fixed at 10s. Does the Webster have the spring in front of the vibrator? I don’t hear the ting.

Had an eye on this model. Does the raised carriage block the line of sight? And do the keys feel very heavy?
@ceratliff553 Жыл бұрын
I have a 1929 Model 2 and maybe i can help answer your questions. No the raised carriage do not block any line of site. It is actually a nice angle to look at. The keys a snappy but you do have to press firmly, not unusual for these 1920s Remingtons. I recommend these old Remingtons, they are very stylish and easy to use typewriters.

Hello there, I recently purchased a Smith corona sterling typewriter, and I do not know where the number one key is. Do you know where I could find that?
@marceloaugusto3302 Жыл бұрын
Typewriters usually don’t have it. We use lowercase L for number 1.
