Hey Russ, your channel is fantastic. I just found it yesterday while searching for boat restoration videos. Your explanations are top notch , and so are the outcomes you achieve. Keep up the great work and videos, I’m learning tons from watching you, that will help me when I start my own boat resto someday. I have a feeling your channel will take off with the more projects you post. Personally I prefer start to finish -in stages type vlogs. The way you have been doing it. Probably easier editing and faster uploads too I would imagine.

I’m going to do other start to finish videos but doing those get in the way of work that actually makes money. This channel makes $6/day

Really enjoying these vlogs. I have been following you since you had the outdoor shop. This place looks great. Any plans on getting any other machinery? 3d printer? When I was doing construction in Florida the heat was a bit crushing my wife got me something like this, TORRAS Neck Air Conditioner, from Amazon. A bit pricey but it works amazing. I look forward to the next one.

3D printer sounds nice but I’ve yet to teach myself 3D CAD so it’s not on my list. I did buy a 3D scanner about a year ago and I never took it out of the box 😆

Good video. Also appreciate the explanation of the time and money it takes to create a plug and fiberglass product. Your prices are actually very reasonable.

Hey Russ, Good to see you back on KZbin. I think there definitely is a place for you. There is a lot of misinformation and shoddy work out there, so it is good to have a knowledgeable pro like you showing a correct way to do things. Looking forward to future videos and it has been cool watching you grow your business. Best of luck.

Shit gas and shit carb design.
@Bobbywolf64Ай бұрын
Well, I have a comment. Those bowl screws are not Philips. They are JIS (common on Japanese small engines), which is close in design, but far enough off that they will strip easily with a Phillips. A small set of vice grips grabbing the sides of the screw is best for breaking these free. These carbs have lots of room to allow for this. A Philips can then be used to finish removing/installing them. I'm not sure you were very accurate with the naming of the parts, but your disassembly did help me when I did mine. Thanks!
@BackyardBoatworksАй бұрын
Thanks Captain. I wasn’t the first one to take them apart which is why they were already stripped. Sorry if my part terminology wasn’t spot on. Next time I’ll make sure to get it perfect so you can better understand the process. Maybe you should make a video and correct everything I did wrong 🤷🏼♂️ just sayn.

Is it possible that if the carb gasket was bad water could get into the oil A mechanic that did my head gasket which didn’t fix water in oil issue claimed the carb side gasket could also be the issue I don’t see how or why water could go in on the carb side??
@BackyardBoatworksАй бұрын
I’ll be honest engines aren’t my strong point but I know a little to get basic things done. It’s seems unlikely a carb gasket would cause water in oil. It’s mostly likely head gasket or a corroded/bad intake manifold. No water in your fuel tank ??
@adventures223Ай бұрын
Great job explaining everything where can you order the intake manifold gasket from thanks

You make it look simple. I’m thinking of giving this a try. My engine is running great at faster speeds But I’m getting stalling at low idle. Is there a cleaner that can be used that might clean up the jets or carbon deposits?

I want to spray my yacht with gelcoat. Instead of using paint.. I have at least 10 layers of topside and 20 layers of bottom paint I have to sand through before I get to the original gelcoat.. I am probably going to soda blast it first. What do you suggest I buy to get the job done.

It’s just stringers. Use cheap resin. Mabey a rod across three spots for side to side strength. Where it meets up with transom then good resin. 😮 I Sean something else that strengthens transom. I forgot.?? 😮

I have a BF30A tiller with pull start. After sitting a few days it takes like 50 pulls for it to start with choke on . Once it's running for awhile it will start first or second pull for the rest of the day no problem... then after sitting again for a day or two ...same scenario ...40-50 pulls before it starts. Primer bulb hose is brand new but I noticed it doesn't get firm when priming at first start ...but does once motor has been running awhile . Any ideas.Carb issue maybe?
@BackyardBoatworks4 ай бұрын
Not sure. Sounds like fuel issue.

Not all glass fabric comes with the same binders... to be on the safe side, get a can of styrene (same people should sell it) add the recommended amt. to your resin), will also decrease viscosity so it wets better and improve adhesion... (a must for no-name resins)
@BackyardBoatworks4 ай бұрын
CSM has one of two binders. Either a styrene binder or a power binder. 90% of CSM is styrene binder. Polyester resin has styrene in it by default. Adding more styrene to your resin is a terrible idea as it only thins the resin and reduces its chemical characteristics. Making the resin more viscous is not helping the adhesion at all. It’s making it worse.
