If your gonna make holes in the transome, you should use machine screws so you can use a nut and washer to tighten it as needed.

It’s plenty tight

I agree, I use planks or steel angle iron (inside and out) with carriage bolts and extra large washers. wood screws will not take the force when the epoxy is kicking off. It's not horrible doing it his way.... but easily better ways than wood screws through glass.

@rs1329 I already put 4 layers of glass on the coring material which in itself is the same as wood planks or angle iron. I have transom brackets that I fabricated that I could have used but when you’re working by yourself and you’re trying to manage a large piece of coring and also fumble with angle iron, brackets, carriage bolts and nuts all while racing against the resin clock, you have to make some adjustments. There’s nearly a 1/4” thick glass on the transom. The wood screws held just fine and I didn’t fully tighten them as to not squish all of the putty out from behind the coring. Sometimes more pressure is not better.
