Are you using TrackIR? Did you have any issues when first using the CPG seat, being out of alignment? I feel like I’m sitting too far to the right, as I can only see the RHG and not the LHG at all. Any tips for dealing with this? Its not game breaking just annoying lol

The whole problem is that flysimmers never had any choice, were loyal and thinking it was good. Only after the release of FS2020 we all noticed the whole combat fly sim studio’s where sleeping and making easy money. Staying in the same routine of fiddling but not doing a real step forwards. Stay a long time into DirectX9 and then they all upgraded to DirectX11, while DirectX12 was already available. The needed movement from single core to multicore, and optimizations for VR users to get rid of shimmering/jaggies. While even modder seems they can make injectors to cope the aliasing problems in VR (race sims), the dinosaurs at the fly sim studio’s we’re deaf to the complains. Daniel an arrogant manager of 1C, could not believe that an studio with no any experience in flysims could never make a good flysim, guess after seeing FS2020 he should know better that the problems more lays into the “trying to bite in his own tail behavior” of those Russian studios, like 1C and ED.

When I get bored I hop on the aerobatic server and can usually find a group.. The divide between people who fly for fun and those who think they are doing it for real is pretty broad so it's hard to find a good between point of someone who isn't an ass if you screw up and someone you don't need to hand hold for an entire flight either. At the same time it's fun to help new players. I'm with you on having a life outside of dcs, not wanting to be on a schedule for other people. The apache is my primary aircraft, and if you ever want to fly together I'm on all the time...

Try flying WWII aircraft. there's nothing more exciting than getting on your opponents 6 o'clock or having to perform evasive maneuvers because your enemy is trying to blast you out of the sky. don't get me wrong BVR is cool, but seeing your enemy's parachute open after you lit him up, or barely making it back to base by the skin of your teeth because your plane is all shot up to that's the real immersive stuff. If someone would put out a really good pacific theatre WWII combat sim... well now you're really talkin'.

Isn't it better to run your own Discord server or virtual squad then? You know like have 20 guys or something that always 4 people are available to freak out on the enemy? I fully understand your point, problem is for me I am not experienced in DCS and it's a super steep learning curve. So you need like ideally an hours of DCS per day to stay into it. Maybe it's an idea for you to train noobs like myself. And train your own squad, get excited about that. See them progress. Because without guidance DCS is not easy as you know. But maybe that gives you like a goal and the needed spark again.

DCS doesn't have a lot of "game" to it because it's mostly a pure simulator. A flight sim can only be "gamey" if it has a dynamic campaign. Doesn't mean DCS isn't a seriously kickass piece of software though!

Have you tried this using UEVR. OMG I haven’t did the setting really good yet. I just got it yesterday. Try or don’t try it. 😮 Way Crazy. Just load in the training and not move. 😮

DCS is never boring. That award goes to MSFS & Xplane. I came over to DCS after boring myself witless with those sims. Great as they are and for what they do. MSFS 2024 looks even more boring unless you want to walk around and look at giraffes and deer.

I think with the cloud cover, it might have been safer to take GBU's since the depot should be non movable, use coordinates to take it out. Although seeing the impact, not sure what you took out, it was all by itself and small.

Found your video on "Briefing Room" Thanks for that. I also have the AV8B and think it's a fun module to fly. I'd be interested in your mission files. I also find just "practicing" a bit boring, don't often fly with organized groups. I don't have time to deal with various rules to take part. I try to fly something at least an hour or two a night, bit more time on weekends.

i've been flying DCS with a first Gen Ryzen 1500X and a 1050TI (later upgraded with a borrowed 1060) til last year this time.. You don't need a beast of a system, but you need a SSD big enough to store all the DCS stuff.. Obviously playing with a R5 5500 and a 4060TI now there's HUGE visual difference to a year ago, but ever since they added MT support performance wasn't bad at all. I always could do everything besides low level stuff on urban areas, which i can do now without problems as well.. no need for a high end PC, arguably mine now isn't really high end (i'm still running that old B350 mainboard for example).. obv VR / 4K etc change things.

DCS is part study sim and part sandbox game. The multiplayer is an extra and has always been something they have on the side. That is why there is a mission editor. Just like ARMA, and many other sandbox games. It's up to the community to make something out of multiplayer. To many servers gamify DCS by having XP or level ups, unlocks lol That is the opposite direction! It is impossible to get people together btw and fly whatever they think everyone should fly, same with simracing, tried for over 2 decades. It is super hard getting everybody in on the same time and actually fly together, which most people can't do anyway. I suggest you get a mate, make yourself a nice mission both of you want to fly, or download one, port forward, and host a session. It works like a charm! Take control of your game, instead of depending on other people to host missions for you. BTW all of them are a joke, the best missions are flown with a low amount of people and specialized to the task at hand and the plane you are flying. Not WW3 scenario. I agree a dynamic mission tool for editor would be a godsend.

Great video! I’ve been eyeing the Harrier for a while, but I've heard about some of the issues with Razbam modules, like inconsistent updates and features not quite lining up. Hopefully, those get smoothed out because it's high on my list once I get my D-Mover 6 DOF setup ready. Until then, it’s back to Apache training! 🚁

Anything promising, inspiring, additive and immersive from third parties, will be broken -- repeatedly -- by ED. The scope of DCS is growing narrower and narrower.

AITrack + OpenTrack is my head tracking solution of choice. It works reasonably well (in my experience), only requires a basic webcam, and the software is open source.

Yes, dynamic campaign would be nice, on this point being 13years "in development" I consider ED a joke. But what would help DCS at least a little if ED not constantly breaking game logic and community missions. Try loading a year old community made mission today and you have 90% chance something in that mission scripting will be broken by ED's update. As developer myself I consider ED utterly incompetent as they cannot keep backwards compatibility for their own community missions/scripts. I was DCS MP server adming for a year and got utterly burned by the fact that every month we were literally full weekend troubleshooting why something in our mission scenarios is not working due to ED changing some AI behaviour or mission trigger logic AGAIN.

So I’m new here and to DCS. I already have the X-56 stick and throttle and a itrack5 . I have a sim rig I bought for racing , but I can add things and take things away to turn it into more of a flight rig. I’m learning how to set my Hotas up cause there are over 50 buttons lol. My question is -is the F-16c worth the $79 price tag or should I wait. That is hands down my favorite fighter but if there are sales I would rather wait for the price drop.

Imagine if dcs integrated with a battlefield style ground game. Calling in a strike and a pilot can accept the mission and bombs your lazed target from 40,000ft. Would be awesome.

*DCS may be dull* because of the emphasis on SIM over gaming. And I like that, personally. _Imagine being a real pilot._ Most pilots' careers are "another day in the office" when flying is concerned. Most pilots never experience what DCS can present you with in terms of adversaries and enemies. Your idea of getting together with people and creating scenarios you are looking for is the best way to create interest. And I agree with the sentiment that dynamic campaigns would help.

I gave up a while back. Its a fantastic simulation, the best in fact. But fundamentally, it lacks immersion. The obvious remedy is the dynamic campaign. That's the only thing that would tempt me back. But to describe the progress of the dynamic campaign as "glacial", would be a compliment...

when I log in a server there are like 20+ players, I type "hello everyone" and like 2 people respond, after that I type "anybody wanna fly together?" and nobody responds.

Ok, I have this problem: I queue both teams, I go to another room, far away from them, when I press Z to execute both, they just go over the same path I went and don't do what I ordered. I use to do that in big places, like the post office, but instead executing my orders, they come after me like my dog and we all end getting hit... Anyone has this problem as well???

iam so sick of playing the same fucking missions in multiplayer. Not even F4 made me play the game any more. Dynamic campaign is a must at this point... where the fuck is it ?

Cool video. When I tried this though, almost all my planes that were in the mission before I flew the mission weren't in the mission. It generated like a dozen planes and only two were actually flying. Anyone why that could be?

To be honest i think DCS is a hot mess, this should be a part of the DCS instead of adding extra apps. Feel like DCS is confusing and just a bunch of crap slapped together.

DCS being boring is within EDs hands, its because of years of pushing off the AI updates or dynamic campaing, its ED not listening to the community or things getting repetitive fast. DCS lacks cohesion, there isin't any big battles I can do in the phantom against, 23s, su15s, Su7s, mig 19s etc, its all heres the modern jets, no counter parts AI or Playable, heres some maps that dont make them very cohesive and the AI cant spot and nail you from extreme distance. Obviously some of that is starting to be addressed but with it being around for so many years and them choosing to focus on the graphics side of things (which that in its self has taken wayyyy too fucking long to optimize) instead of gameplay it has led to things being very stale.

I agree, very boring at the moment. People need to communicate more.
