I have been using the app for a while now for baseline mission. It does help get over the writer block I was experiencing when trying to create a mission. Double check the radio frequency and tacan the generator gives as it can overlap and block unit you interact with. For example, the JTACs, AWACS, Carriers and Tankers will be on the same frequency. It is a great program that I’m sure will only get better in time. The easy way to hide units in the app is to select fog of war. This will hide targets until they are identified by an assets sensor.

This with Olympus probably will make DCS into the game I was looking for. The fun, dynamics of something like Ace Combat where it seems you're actually living in a real world, real operation, while simultaneously allowing me to play single player, be god and in control to add what I want, and still realistic

Hey Grimey, Thanks so much for the info. This is a new one for me. I've got about 20,000 flight hours in the Hornet and in DCS in geneal. I do mostly solo stuff now but I get tired of the same campiagns as great as they are like Raven One and Persion Lion but I was looking for a way to make some missions and not have to be super good with the DCS mission editor because I still find it complicated and buggy. @grimey Under Objectives is Options...In options is "Fog of War" thats where you hide/unhide enemy units etc

Cool video. When I tried this though, almost all my planes that were in the mission before I flew the mission weren't in the mission. It generated like a dozen planes and only two were actually flying. Anyone why that could be?

Would be nice to see you fly such a mission! About hiding enemies on map - there should be a fog of war setting somewhere I think.

The "fog of war" is when you have group selected, and you can then on right main panel select "Hide in mission map" or something. And it will hide unit in mission editor as in briefing and all others. Only way to get it back is then go to left panel UNITS tab, and find the group that is hidden and select it from there and then show it again by removing the hide tick.

How could you use this to help build a training mission with each waypoint being a certain training exercise? Such as, WP 1 dumb bombs, WP 2 laser guided munitions, WP 3 A2A, etc.

I think you could set multiple objectives to whatever it is you'd like to do, set all the parameters around it and then export it. Then take it into ME and fine tune it for what you want to do. It could maybe give you a starting point. Worth trying.

Click on the blue MISSION button above the little map panel, this will open a standard SAVE FILE dialog and save the mission in Windows in USERS/YOU/SAVEDGAMES/DCSOPENBETA/MISSIONS and then IN DCS open the mission as usual. Boom!

I never got a decent mission out of Briefing Room. You want to do an intercept? Sure, here's an enemy SA-5, locking you the moment you take off with no A/G weapons. You want a CAP patrol with early cold war wepaons? Ok, your enemy will be a flight of 4 Mig-31 with long range missiles.

Did you use the Direct Support options so that you could call in AI CAP/CAS/SEAD/ etc to help? From what I gathered that is what you're supposed to do so that you can focus on the primary obj of the mission.

Dude a squadron is the way to go. It is co-op at its best and never boring. You can find one that lets you be more relaxed with the commitment part. Open MP servers are total crap by comparison.

Sometimes you just don’t want to deal with people🤷‍♂️. It can also be pretty frustrating or unsatisfying if you fly for a bit and then you get disconnected during a sortie.
