I didn't quite understand that. Have you now fitted B6 at the front and B8 at the rear? The B4 damper is the same as the OE damper. It is neither better nor worse. From the B6 damper onwards, Bilstein uses better and higher quality technology, which is identical from the B6 to the B16, except that from the B14 onwards it is coilover suspension. I have installed the complete B12 suspension in my BMW 650i and I can say from my own experience that the car drives much better, quieter and more stable at top speed (German Autobahn) than in comparison to the standard suspension. Basically, I don't believe in lowering springs on standard dampers. On the B12, the dampers and springs are matched to each other (B8 = shortened B6).

I noticed less rasp in heavier gauge stainless steel exhausts ages and ages ago, as a kid watching muscle car videos (our market is huge! so finding same brand and design with different quality metal was not hard) so i love that you did this but the end result of it being raspier was what i expected, to be blunt. Not personally a huge fan of excess rasp but there are easier ways to achieve this if its something someone desired, namely you just need a large section of pipe that starts resonating (aka, blank pipe uninhibited by extra supports, muffling, or anything that would weight it down.) Similar but slightly different effect a enlarged diameter exhaust tip can do similar, doesn't have to be a muffler literally just a tip. If you want less rasp and just to try brass you could fit resonators mid-way up after largest connecting point near headers, thats cheapest easiest anti-rasp method i know but rare to find since it requires more fab then just sticking resonators at butt end of exhaust when it comes to DiY builds. I like "Bullet" style mufflers for this approach, but all that would have to be made out of steel unless you fabbed brass ones, drilled all the holes and packed the matting to replicate one yourself.

Thanks for the input. Will try out resonators one day😃

actually the run from 50 to 110 isn't informative, instead you should've use range like 20-140 to address whole range of engine, especially in this case of changing the intake where the airflow restrictions are more noticeable at higher rpms, so all in all, the attempt is nice, but it could be more informative. also the temperature of the runs do matter, there is 10degrees difference, which actually ruins the comparison, since we need at least the same temperature to achieve the same performance from engine
@OEMplusRESTO7 күн бұрын
How about a second gear run of 20-90kmh? Hard to do 140 here
@anton_rachytski7 күн бұрын
@@OEMplusRESTO then you'll be limited by time fraction - engine will be on higher rpm only a second or something, I don't know how precise is draggy, but per your data there is a 0.2s difference. however, if we engage statistic mode, i.e. 5-10 runs and then calculate the average time and compare it - this should be enough to see the difference. This is like a basic approach to eliminate mistakes of measurement equipment. BTW the value we're looking for - the difference - it'll definitely be quite small, I did similar checks for the chip tuning comparison on m30b34 engine, and the diff was about 3-5%. That's why it's so hard to see it, and especially to get it in numbers. 3% out of 6 secs - is 0.18sec - so every 0.01 really do the change. One more idea though - to find a positive slope, add weight to the car, etc , so as to prolong the time engine needs to reach the limiter - this will give us more room :)
@OEMplusRESTO7 күн бұрын
@anton_rachytski thank you. One thing is certain. I cant do 20-140 legally. Not sure 3gear is able to pull from 20kmh speed either but defimitely 30 through max rpm. I will think it over and see what i can do for the next test which is wheel weights

Mine had terrible play around the center because of a loose coupler. After removal I could actually move the rivited parts 1-2mm before they engaged the rubber. This tiny bit of play was multiplied by the leverage of the steering wheel and translated into significant slop. I replaced it with an OE coupler and it literally took 20 years off my car. This, together with new shocks, springs, bushings and a decent alignment was the best investment in my E46, I now massively enjoy it whereas before it felt wholly unsorted.
