@@ajoyfuldelight4795 this has everything you will ever need. The OAR questions didn’t make me do a bunch of math by hand. Instead they were more focused on math rules. The reading section was wack. Not much you can do to study for that. They give you an 8 sentence paragraph and ask which answer best describes the passage. My best advice would be to take as many practice tests as you can before the exam and time yourself.

I have been enlisted in the Air Force for 7 years now. If you cannot get a commission from the Navy, I would look at other branches. I know the recruiter will tell you to go enlisted first, they'll say it's easy to Commission that way and you will know the enlisted troops better. That's exactly why I went enlisted even after getting offered an officer position. Being enlisted is hard and you're at the bottom of the food chain getting yelled at by people with no education but out-rank you because they joined when you went to college. It is not easier to commission from enlisted. It is actually easier to leave the military first then commission. This is what I had to do. I had been trying to commission for the past 7 years. I have a degree in physics and a 3.9 GPA. After I put in my separation paperwork at my 8th year mark, I was given commissioning opportunities in all branches. If you have any questions and want to chat on the phone, let me know. The recruiters will lie to you.

It’s very hard to get a commission in the Navy. You have to have a STEM degree, preferably in engineering to have a chance of getting selected for OCS. The path to a commission is a little easier if you go enlisted first. Being a sailor who is self-starting, hard charging with leadership potential, who stays out of trouble, passes the PFA, etc. would carry a lot of weight in the selection process for OCS to where your college degree in a non-STEM field and a low GPA would get overlooked. You also have the option of going into the Limited Duty Officer (LDO) program if you want to stay in the same career field when you commission. You just have to be a first class on the selection board for the CPO exam and no more than 16 years in. That could take too long to do.

@layahreign835
@layahreign835 3 жыл бұрын
You can definitely do that but you won’t be able to put in your package until you get to your first duty station after boot camp and a-school and there might still be some stipulations. Just do your own research and don’t let anyone convince you of anything without absolute proof. And Idr what I wore honestly lol the place was cold so I’m pretty sure I wore long pants and brought a jacket

I did 6yrs in the Navy enlisted. I had an Associate degree going in the Navy. If I had my Bachelors degree I would never chose the enlisted route. The money is low on the enlisted side and officers get paid more money. Being enlisted its always someone constantly telling what to do most of the time. Getting pointless counseling chits for not following dumb ass orders. I'm happy in 1st CIV DIV. After the military I use my GI Bill to go back to school. I ended up a getting career in Management Consultant making a lucrative salary and became a real estate investor.

Allayah Carr I disagree. I was a Hospital Corpsman for 6 yrs. I learned new skillsets after the military. I don’t work in Healthcare. I work in well known consultant firm doing Management Consultant in Real Estate industry . I’m also a Real Estate investor. My enlisted experience didn’t really do much for me. I found a way by networking and learn new skillsets that was trending in the job market. Definitely look into four block. It’s a great program for veteran career readiness.

Bekah Kirkish it all depends on if you want to wait or not. Personally I didn’t want to wait a whole year on a possibility because it was still likely that I wouldn’t have been accepted to go officer as a civilian. So I had to weigh the pros and cons.

Those paragraphs are HUGE. I've just taken it, and those paragraphs are like snippets of huge "terms and conditions" agreements you've seen. Most of the answers for them were correct, you have to just choose the MOST correct answer. It was tough for me. The PBM portion later (with the flight controls etc) was challenging but successful. I ended up qualifying the whole ASTB but I got a low score due to the OAR. The Test was adaptive. When you get a question correct, the next question will be harder.
