Sam... Thanks for video. I'm a senior with the same car (actually a For Ester, or Ruth; I couldn't care less!) and the same problem (deeper though). Never leave this 'art' for another. Sadly, very few have the "spirit" to do repairs these days. They are just 'parts swappers'. I almost had an orgasm watching and enjoying your repair. Thanks again. 😂😂

Grew up in the Toledo area. My dad taught music in Toledo he was a traveling music teacher. I love the city but I would never move back. The weather sucks year-round. Yes they have a great museum it's okay yes they have a great Symphony, my dad played in it, yes they have a nice zoo. It has deteriorated somewhat.. that's about it though. There's not much else to do in the city. The worst thing is the weather though. Cloudy gloomy rainy snowy 75% of the year.. no thanks. There's a reason that it's cheap to live there. No one wants to live there.

I also have an old house that I’m working on by myself and doors are one of the main things that I end up having to work on because of shifting house. I had been stuck on installing a new pocket door for a while because I need to shorten the door I bought so I can hang it on my rail system. This video helped me figure out if a circular saw will do the job properly for cutting the door shorter and also helped me figure out what I should do with that block at the bottom of the door. Thank u

What polish are you using that is capable of removing a 1000 grit scratch? I use a polish that is supposed to take out 1,200 grit but I can't get it to remove a 1500 grit.

Would it hurt anything if you just left the bottom open?
@RelocatingToCleveland
@RelocatingToCleveland 7 ай бұрын
It could if someone smacked their foot on the bottom of it. You want some sort of backer on it. If you don’t have the nail gun and table saw, you can put spray insulation in and cut it off after it dries for the support

That might be fine for a Craftsmen generator? I have a Honda EU7000is. It weighs almost 300 pounds with fuel & oil. I would never attempt your method with that set up. When my generator was delivered from the dealer they used a car trailer & tipped the body down to remove it gently. I just ordered a Spitz Lift for my truck. Yes, it costs a lot more money but I won’t hurt my body. Second is that my generator hasn’t needed one bit of service since I bought it 6 years ago. I have only changed the battery because it was old. Not that it needed it. As well as change the oil. It has about 80 hours on it. It has always started the first time & has run flawlessly providing power to my entire house including the 2-1/2 ton central air. Obviously your a young man & your fit enough to move nimbly around. Your method is great for someone who desires to be cautious with his money as my grandfather used to say. The old motto still rings true. “You get what you pay for”.

I’m 100 lbs and I’m intimidated by the 209lb weight my generator will be. I’m planning on buy a utility trailer with a wrench to haul my mobile bar and generator all together. But I’m worried once I have my generator off of my trailer that I’m going to be having trouble wheeling it in and out of venues/clients property by hand 🤔😔any ideas???? Besides getting a smaller generator? I really want/need the 1200 wt one I’m eyeballing

Nice, easy to follow segment on bleeding the brakes, but the speed-up during the caliper change really doesn't "teach" anything to a DIY'er. For example, what are the tool sizes, tool types, and caveats one must deal with when actually decoupling the old brake caliper hose. For those of us who are mechanically inclined, but aren't familiar with that particular kind of fitting, watch videos like this to learn the details. Unfortunately, these details are obscured in this video during the speed-up.

Door trimming 101, you don't just cut a huge chunk from the bottom, you trim equally from top and bottom or left and right, otherwise you end up in this situation where you're messing around having to put the core back in.
@SamOhler
@SamOhler Жыл бұрын
I disagree. With prehung doors, if you cut the top, the hinges are still going to mount in the same spot. You’ll just have a gap between the jamb and the door up top. If it were a slab door you could do what you suggested before you router in the hinge locations

I would not do this because if you slip the generators going to pull you right off the truck. I suggest hooking a extra long strap to the generator and running it up through an eyelet mount in the truck and running the strap through it and then you’ll be standing on the ground Pulling it up

The problem with this way, while fast, is that you end up taking out 2 inches of the door and might end up with a gap too big for most flooring. There's another way of doing this that's more laborious but will get you a smaller gap. Take a utility knife and carefully separate the glue holding the bottom rail from the veneer panel and ease it out. Then you can cut however much you want from the door and just glue and slide the rail back in. I did this just to get an extra 1/2" off a door that was almost touching the finished tile.
@fayahnyumah1383

I dont get the difference in your explanation of cut error. Are you saying that by leaving the bottom rail on and cutting is more risky than removing the rail first and then cut?

All I was doing was cutting off the 1/8 inch face on each side of the cut piece so that the block fits back into the hollow part of the door. Basically set it so that it was the width of a saw blade

@obrosrestoration When cutting down a painted door would you use painters tape or simple masking tape to keep the door from splintering?
@RelocatingToCleveland
@RelocatingToCleveland Жыл бұрын
Anything should work as long as it is there to keep it held down. I wouldnt use anything like packing tape or scotch tape. Frog tape, Blue tape, white tape should all suffice. The sharpness of the blade and speed of the cut play a factor in it too. But general rule of thumb that I work by is that the tape is usually good enough.
