I write the subject followed by page number(s) so if I add more pages for a subject, I only need to find the subject and all the page numbers are right there together. Could you tell me the name of the pen you were using, please?

This is more miscellany than commonplace book they are very similar. I use miscellaneous for only bible topics where commonplace book is a mix of everything.

I hadn't thought of using a commonplace book specifically for Bible study topics! I've tried to keep a commonplace book several times and I never stick with it. But maybe if keep it Bible-focused I will. Thanks for the idea!

I really like this idea - I feel like this type of thing is just all over the place in a variety of journals right now. How awesome to have it in one place. Also, a tip on page numbering - you really only need to number all of the odd pages, which takes only half the time. If page 5 is on the right, you know the left page is 4. Easy peasy!

I use a Miscellany journal, and it is very similar to this method. I write a topic or a character study in my journal, noting a main central Bible verse or verses, and write the title on the index. I call my first journal M and I note the page number, and in my Bible I mark that journal name and page number inside, so that I can take deeper notes on the passage and not worry about running out of space in my Bible. I also have a journal for Questions and Answers that I’m using with my Bible reading plan, and during my Bible study I can research and write possible answers from books or scripture itself, and label the notebook for Q&A, once again with an index and scripture references. I might consider writing themes as well in my journal and track scripture in that theme in a new journal, or integrated into my miscellany journal, it’s a great idea. I might also consider that for word studies in the Greek or Hebrew, or Bible book outlining. Great job with the video!

Miscellany journals are so cool! I have a digital version of that, and it has been very helpful for me! I also keep a digital questions journal. I have that in my shorts, and am planning on doing a longer version soon :)

I really love this idea! Has anyone thought about using a commonplace book for all the good KZbin videos they find!! I’m overwhelmed and would love some advice on this. I watch a KZbin video like this one for example that has a wonderful idea that I would like to implement and go back and watch but then I can’t REMEMBER who’s video to watch!! What’s your thoughts on this!! Help a disorganized ADHD girl out, please! ❤

oooh, that's an interesting idea. Can you use the playlists directly in KZbin? Or you could do this on the notes app on your phone too. Keep each video's link saved with the topic in the header.

Thank you for sharing! I wondered how these work when you fill a page on a certain topic but had already put something else on the next page, and your explanation of how you’d do that for “self control” was simple and effective. I was definitely overthinking it! 😅

Thank you for this! In my women’s group at church we are doing a book study on Jen Wilkin’s Women of the Word book. She encourages us to find the components of the Big Story of the Bible in the passages or stories we are studying. So I think I am going to make separate pages for Creation, Fall, Redemption and Restoration in my book and note the passages where I see these elements in scripture. Hope that makes sense!

Great video! I’ve been digital bible journaling for 9 years now. During church service I can screen shot the Bible verses, then add the image into my digital bible journal (GoodNotes). Then I can write notes pertaining to the verses. There are several great and beautiful digital bible journals on Etsy. Having my bible study notes digitally allows me to actually read what I wrote years ago! Best part is that I don’t have to lug around pens, highlighters, post it notes, washi tape, and a heavy journaling bible. Been through that and trying to hold my babies and purse. Nope! 😂

I love this. I've been using it for 2024. I bring my iPad mini to church and use this as my church Bible and I record the sermon so I can go back and take my notes in full instead of rushed. My pastor knows that I do and I have given him access to my recordings folder on Google drive because he kept asking if I still had a recording of such and such day or another one lol. It's so nice to have all the features of it available no matter where I am.

I like what you said aroun 49 - 55 minutes about studying the Bible without the tools is enough because the Lord can speak to us directly through His word. I am persuaded you believe is becaue of the way you conducted the study. You allowed people to read the scripture themselves and make their own notes without you telling them what you got from your study. Thank you for this.. I have a small KZbin channel and have been thinking of doing Study the Bible with me. I like this format.

These are such great videos. But what everyone doesn't understand is when you're new to the Bible you're really not sure what attributes are Gods. Or what characteristics are Gods and so forth because you're new to the Bible. So new people end up highlighting everything which does not work well. Please realize people that are new to the Bible do not have the same 4 vision that experienced people do. In many people are doing this on their own. 9 highlights is a lot for a beginner. I do love the concept I do love the video and I appreciate your time and effort today. Thank you so much

That's why I have a course that breaks it all down, gives examples and goes deeper. I also don't recommend starting with more than 3 colors. Most of my content is aimed at very beginners - and I really try to take good care of people who are just starting out.

A tip if someone doesn't want to/can't have a new bible each year: I started using each year a different pen to write down my notes or underline passages (I also highlight passages, but these colors correlate to a theme like "attributes of God" etc). So far, a black pen was for 2023, pink for 2024, and my color for 2025 is light blue! I also write the date next to my notes. These colors help me see what stood out to me each year. ☺

I saw someone in 2023 talking about having a new Bible every year, and the idea of it made sense…and made me happy. 2024’s Bible was a hardback journaling ESV. 2025’s is a softcover chronological CSB (with enough room in the margins for notes). I’m excited!!

Funny that this popped up. I was looking at getting another study Bible in a different translation but I told myself I didn’t need another Bible right now. I asked myself if I was buying it just because. I have mulitple Bibles in different translations but I think your reasoning makes sense. I haven’t bought one each year but last year I bought 2 and this year I only bought 1. I bought them as I entered different phases of life and wanted a new Bible for it. Also, I can’t see so I’m buying large print Bibles now. LOL The thought of having a fresh start and not reviewing old notes stands out to me. In college I wanted new books for this exact reason - I didn’t want to see old notes, specifically someone else’s. I do write in my Bibles, but not a lot. I prefer to use journals and notebooks so I’m can write freely and not limited on space. Thank you for sharing your POV.
