Hi Eva, I’m new to your channel (a 61 tear old lifetime Christian) and I want to encourage you. I have been so impressed with your wisdom! You are doing important work for the LORD, please keep it up. Today’s video - and your take on Bible study - was fantastic. You took familiar terms and strategies and made us think more deeply about them. Thank you. I’ll look forward to your next video! May God pour out His blessings on you. Debbie

Your video showed up on my home page today. Something I really struggle with is finding the balance between Bible reading and Bible study. When I do one of those read the Bible in a year plans I feel like I have to just keep reading so I don’t get behind. Checking off that box each day feels so good lol. So then I end up never doing any studying because I used up the time in my daily quiet time doing the daily reading

I totally understand!! It took me a while to learn how to incorporate them both. I have done different things at different points in life. Sometimes I just listen to my Bible reading plan throughout my day, and spend my quiet time studying. Some seasons I will use my quiet time for Bible reading, and then schedule a coffee date with my Bible later in the week to do some study. Then other times I will use quiet time for study, and read my Bible plan before I go to bed. Try a few different options and see what works for you. And, don’t be afraid to set one aside for a season. Sometimes (speaking as a toddler mom who just got out of the 2 under 2 phase 😅) you just do what you can and thank God that He is the One who supplies us grace and strength. We don’t have to work for it. 💕

Love your point about context. There’s more to it the deeper you dig too. Nuances with language, writing styles, etc., as you know I’m sure. I have a couple more tips: Stop reading the Bible like it is an encyclopedia. It is a BOOK, read it like one. Most people that have told me ‘it’s SO hard to read’ are reading it this way, and they have abandoned the basic reading comprehension skills they had learned by the 6th grade. Who, what, when, where, why, how…don’t let your preacher/Sunday school teacher distract you from it. Stop coming to it with the hopes of ‘having a better day’ or whatever nonsense. The Bible isn’t Xanax. Read it for the reason it tells you to…to ‘transform’ into a better version of yourself.

Enjoyed! Love the warm fuzzies, love the "Lightbulb" going off but when I read the Bible I ask God to write His Word on my heart. Blessings to your ministry!

I started a bible reading of a chapter each morning, but I gotta say that this was really inspiring

a chapter a day is a great way to work through the Bible! Great job! 👏

Great suggestions. I had never heard the terms "descriptive" and "prescriptive" applied to Bible passages. Interesting take. I teach linguistics and we apply those terms to grammar!

Yay! I love that you are seeing it in a new way. I think we often forget (or at least I do!) that the Bible is literature, and we can apply so many literature principles to it.

I think I knew all of them but it was helpful for all of them to be presented together. Really enjoyed the video.

I have never used a study Bible and never will. In Bible studies, the notes are read as if they were the Bible itself. I am not saying they are wrong, I think they should be separate from the Bible so they are not added to God’s word.
@EvaKubasiak12 күн бұрын
I like to use them as an additional resource but definitely want God’s Word first! Love that you protect that time in God’s Word 👏
