I have only Artem straps and decided to give Northstar a try for the affordability aspect and I just received my grey Northstar sailcloth strap with loopless buckle and there is ZERO difference between this and my higher priced Artem straps. The buckle has no markings on the outside and just Northstar engraved on the inside of the buckle. There was no upcharge for the quick release spring bars and it's the perfect strap for my Sinn 556 tool watch. Don't hesitate to order one if you are looking at Artem. They aren't the only high quality sailcloth strap provider on the market. Honorable mention to Dassari, even though I haven't tried them personally.

I am so glad that Ginualt is improving more and more. And be its own. This new 2.5 version is absolutely stunning watch. Initially when the original OR 1 came out, it had various issues, especially movement, but now I wouldn't mind buying this instead of a Tudor! Great Job, Ginault.

They're both pretty much perfect luxury watches. No wrong choice, just preference. Most, like you, I think are going to opt for the more elegant Datejust. But the Explorer is just perfect with that 9-6-3 layout and Mercedes logo on the hour hand is sharp and time reading is clear like you said, but no date. I like the Explorer better, but if I'm going to buy a Rolex it would probably be the Datejust, although I'd want an Explorer. It's a tough one.

Team Ginault, had several 6 digits subs ... But I don't like the crown image for multiple reasons ... Good watches but the brand I dislike... Ginault are very well made, and to me using the greatest hits of the many submariner generations... Comes out perfectly! Milsub hands, maxi dial, SD insert with min marks, 5 digits case etc... If Rolex would release the OR2 as a special model, it would be impossible to buy 😂

Great video and great watch. I hadn't seen the difference in crowns with the sub before and enjoyed that comparison. It was between this in black or the sub for me and I am so happy I went for the explorer. I find the 5mm extension perfect - it's snug on my wrist when resting without leaving an imprint, but when flying/exerting effort/getting warm it gets uncomfortable so popping the extension gives me the perfect amount of added size. 42mm wears so well too, it has the heft we look for in a stainless steel tool watch without going over the top.
@BrokeWatchFanatic11 күн бұрын
I’m glad you’re taking full advantage of the 5mm extension! For me, it’s too tight or too loose.

I actually prefer the hands and design of the Ginault. The blue bezel is a plus as well. The Rolex has that brand power. Status symbol. No explanations needed. You don't get that with a "Ginault" but does that really matter? Up to you. Good video comparison.

Ginault is not going to add their branding to the clasp for one reason: it’s a Rolex patented clasp. This is also why Ginault hides their clasp from view on their site.

To each their own - watches are expensive and it’s alot about branding. That said - when a brand takes all of its design from another brand it’s not watch making in my opinion - it’s a type of cash grab just like Rolex is doing. It’s similar if you have ever worked on a group project in school , you do all the work but the group gets the same grade - ginualt didn’t put in the sacrifice years back they need to be their own brand with their own identity
@BrokeWatchFanatic14 күн бұрын
I respect that.

Ginault has no R&D, no in-house rleiable movement, it copies Rolex design, poor quality materials compared to Rolex, and yet this YT assumes in his entry that you get almsot the same watch for a fraction of the price. If you can't afford Rolex, there are many great watches Omega, Longinees, Tudor ...etc with different price points

Chill bro. What’s the hate for? I have at least 10 Rolexes lying around the house I also don’t feel the need to bash another nice looking watch. If I didn’t have the sub I would buy it , it’s more cool than rolex. Rolex is high quality? I have a 16610 5 years ago, I spent 8 months , went service Centre 3 times to have it fixed. What’s the high quality u talking about ? 😂 I am just being ridiculous with one example I know but let’s not over praise rolex. What they r doing now through the ADs is pretty low in ethics so they are no angel

So can you help a new to watch guy understand the benefits of your comments, this is a handbuilt homage watch for @ 1/10 the cost to a watch that has been in production since I think 1953, “The main parts, such as the mid-cases, case backs, and bezel assemblies are CNC machined at our contracted machine shops here domestically. Each mid-case/bezel assembly is then hand-finished.”, what has the Rolex R&D department done to improve the Submariner in say last 20 years, In-House 6 Weeks Regulated Sellita SW200-1 Elabore Grade Caliber with Date Complication. After the completion of each watch, it goes through a series of final tests including water resistance test, cosmetic QC, and a final timing accuracy and power reserve test on a winder, by ourselves before shipping. Used in countless other brands please point us to data showing unreliability? What materials used are of poor quality? Ceramic Bezel Insert, Engraved Numbers & Graduations Platinum Coated, Triple-Layer, Optometry Grade (Clear Coating without Blue-Hue) Anti-Reflective Sapphire Crystal with Cyclops, High-Gloss Enamel Dial with Forged Indices, Lumed & Assembled by Hand. Achieving the highest premium finish on the mid case of our watches involves a series of meticulous and skill-intensive processes. Each mid case (after the CNC process) is subjected to multiple stages of hand brushing, polishing and finishing. After the case is sanded to remove any imperfections, it follows a series of progressively finer abrasives to achieve an ultra smooth surface (mirror polish), or in the case of the top of the lugs, they go through a very carefully done circular brushing process. Attention is given to every curve and edge, ensuring excellence and brilliance. This rigorous process not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the watch but also highlights the superior craftsmanship and dedication to quality that defines Ginault, ensuring that each timepiece is a true work of art. Have you held one compared to Rolex so are you making comments on first hand experience or generalized thoughts?

I own the Rolex, and I daily it, and enjoy the way it makes me feel. No one notices that its a Rolex, or particular cares, apart from the other friend who is into watches. Technically, luxury brands don't stack up. But that could be said of any luxury good.
