Thank you for the comment. I do have another video no this for implants. Ballpark... Bridge with no insurance ~4-5K depending on where you live, with insurance the out of pocket for patients probably ranges ~1500-2k. For implants no insurance ~4500-6 k depending on where you live. With insurance maybe have. Theses are very broad numbers but general idea. Biggest factors and where you live and fee schedules, cost of the procedure in the area. Hope that helps!

If the two teeth that will hold the bridge have crowns already or big cavities, then the bridge makes sense because you are also fixing the two teeth around the missing tooth. I chose the bridge for this reason. They did a root canal on the tooth with the big cavity before installing the bridge.

hi, so i have a tooth on th ebottom le part of my mouth, i think it is the 2nd or 3rd one from the end , it had a silver filling put in like 40 years ago. tonight i noticed using a mirror that magnifies and with a strong light. it appears there there is a small line i don't remember seeing before, it is running from the centre of the tooth (on otp) to the left owars the next tooth. is that any major issue?

Due to Celiac, I lost 12 years ago tooth number 21, 22, 29, and 30. So I'd like to have a bridge on the lower jaw both sides of center, as I'm not in love with paying more money for a screw in my bone and waiting 3 or 4 months and then getting crowns. I have waited all this time. Disabled and on a fixed income 61 years old. Biggest problem is now due to 4 extractions of the roots are causing all my incisors to shift and one of the incisors would be used as the mounting tooth to the bridge on the right side of my mouth. Is that going to pose a problem? The dentist I saw with Affordable Dentures was in and out in less than 10 minutes did not answer all my questions but hit me with, "Do you want to bridge?" I have an upper right Bridge. I didn't know that was an option, and my answer was "no" cuz I was thinking permanent drills. He never came back. I don't even know my quotes. Offered partial implants for permanent. I see another dentist next week but I would like an opinion from you you or anyone reading this has had two missing teeth L & R and a Bridge work and that leaning tooth falling in toward my tongue. What do you think all wise and experienced comments will be well received thank you! 😁
@drhoulik11 күн бұрын
Thank you for the comment. Kind of like we discussed in the video it depends on the quality of the teeth that will support the bridge. The bridge that would be #20-#23 could be questionable- not saying it's not doable but another consultation seems like a good idea. The LR area is typically more routine as far as replacing those teeth with a bridge. It is a longer span bridge though. Regarding biting forces, amount of space, etc... I'm not sure what's opposed from it- occlusion and bite wise. Some good questions to ask would be structurally how sound are the teeth that will be supporting the bridge. How much will they potentially to have remove to get the bridge done (angles of the teeth, decay, etc...,other variables). Also foundation wise (gum and bone health) how sound are the teeth. I always try and spend time with patients, answer any questions and discuss the pros and cons of different solutions and what seems to be the best treatment in addition to financial decision for the patient. Hopefully your next consult they can answer some of your questions. Best of luck with everything!

@GhulamBogdadi14 күн бұрын
There are really only two majors health concerns that give us red flags🚩with implant_ nmber 1 is uncontrolled diabetes and BP_ Uncontrolled diabetes the main reason for that is because if your bone and your body doesn't heal properly the bone in the body is never going to form correctly around the implant' and we're just kind of setting Ourselves up for failure, the other concerns that we have is bone growing medicine so your fosamax your boniva' well these are things we can work around definitely something you want to bring up' because those impair the body's ability to heal around the implant' the Other factor is healthy bone and what I mean by that is we need to have an adequate quantity of bone because the implant needs to have bone surrounding all the way circumferentially around it but it also has to have an adequate thickness of the ridge is too thin the implant runs the risk of not only failing but possibly breaking the bone and that doesn't mean that it's not possible, we can always grow bone we have lots of bone growing procedure through grafting augmentation but these are all things that we'll discuss with you once we've done a cone beam scan which is 3re dimensional scan that lets us see exactly the quantity of bone and the (quality of bone) and the other advantages of a cone bean scan is that we can plan out your surgery from start to finish so that we have actually already digitally virtually placed your implant we know exactly where we want to put it so we know we've got the best chance for success but also that allows me as the restorative doctor to plan out the tooth or the bridge or the denture that goes on the top of it for an ideal success one"_ One question we get asked is how young or how old can I be to get implants or not not to get implants ? And it's a great question and of course the answer is it depends to be honest with you there really isn't an age limit at the top end as long as you're healthy and you've got good bone and we feel that you'll heal the age is just the number we've got patients that we did a 95 years old patient' the other day did a single tooth implant turned out great on the shorter end of the age range when your younger presents a problem Because we don't know where your bone is going to end up for males generally under 25 and females under 21 we're really not comfortable placing implants, at the time you put the implant in the bone you plant it out it's great it look perfect you put the teeth on top everything's wonderful and then they continue to grow and at 25 for females or in 30..35.. all of a sudden the bone and the teeth and tissue around that implant have grown and changed and your implant is still stuck where you placed it x many years ago so that presents a problem because a successful implant has bone all the way around it so to change that it's a pretty invasive procedure where you actually have to drill away all the bone around the implant you have to find it out and that leaves a pretty big a hole basically that you have to fill with bone and you can replace with implants' frustrating as it is and we do get a lot of cases where whether it's a medical problem or missing teeth can generally missing teeth where we have parents that are like can't we just do these implant honestly it's better to wait in those situations when we've got lots of techniques to kind of camouflage missing teeth whether it's you know resin bonded bridges natural bridges removal appliances there are lots of things we can do for that young person until they get old enough and the bone is fully grown that was a ramble that was good'_ okay all right another aspect that affects the success rate of implants are smokers and (gutka pan) chewers' the smoking creates not only a lot of immense heat in the area but also the actual action of smoking can draw out the blood clot and cause the area to not heal the way we want the chemicals and the carcinogens and the basically and the stuff they put in cigarettes and in tobacco and really damage the mouth and not allowed to heal, for an implant to be successful we want to create that ideal site that ideal area where the body can make it successful now if you are a smoker you can work around that we can use Nicorette patches we can do things for cessation infact I've had a lot of patients use getting an implant as a reason for them to finally quit smoking they do the implant they stop smoking for 6 weeks, and you know what but this is great I'm saving a lot of money I feel better I got it worked out, smoking while it's not a contraindication is something we definitely want to discuss and plan, at lastly who else besides everyone I've talked about is not a candidate for implants people that have really poor bone whether you've been missing teeth for a long time and your bones resorbed' and the last category is people with really bad hygiene and nobody really likes to talk about it, but if you don't brush your teeth and don't take care of your teeth 🦷 I don't think you should make the investment in getting teeth put back in because if you don't keep the mouth clean just like you can get cavities you can't get cavities onto titanium implant but you can get plaque and you can't get build up and you can cause bone loss and so you really need to be motivated to take care of them and that's the last categories people that aren't motivated to clear and clean for implants' sometimes people think hey I've got implants I don't have extra brush I don't have to floss and infact the opposite is true a lot of time with implants you have to increase your attention to your hygiene to make sure they're Successful"_ what step do we take to see if you're a candidate for implants ? So in our office every patient gets a 3 dimensional cone beam scan and what that does is allow us to see a big picture to kind of see not only the area where we might placed implants but the adjacent teeth make sure everything is healthy evaluate the bone strength the bone quality and allow us to kind of see around the nooks and crannies that sometimes we can't see and plan for we'll also have an in-depth discussion with you about what your goals are you know not every patient is same just because you're missing a tooth doesn't mean you need an implant there are lots of other options we'll discuss that in some other time, but sometimes an implant isn't the right solution having that in depth conversation with you to make sure what exactly you want and what we can provide for you we're all on the same page so if this sounds like you and you have questions about whether implants are right for you"_ and I don’t recommend to bridges also’ At all_ Al Omrah' MA trpl phd, M.Phil Durvesh yezdani's University of psychologist in foreign languages analysis

My 30th tooth has a visible vertical crack running along the outer side. The crack is running from the top half way down towards the gum line. It doesn’t hurt or cause discomfort but seems to have a cavity in the crack, the tooth itself does have minor cavity spots on top of it too, and I’m concerned because it’s my only chewing side. Can’t chew on the other side after cavity treatments on that side that led to a crown on my 19th tooth (I regret treating any of it because I had no pain or sensitivity before and was treating it only to prep for orthodontics). Since then, the crowned tooth has been sensitive to temperature and biting and chewing became impossible even thought the crowned tooth is fine when left untouched. Now with the cracked tooth on the other side I’m worried to lose my only chewing side and to have the same discomfort eating on both sides. What would you recommend?
@drhoulikАй бұрын
Thank you for the questions. If there is in fact a cavity there- then it will need to be fixed (not if but when) so I wouldn't let that go too long. As far as being concerned about getting more work after not having the best results or experience with previous work... That's a bit tricker. And sorry to hear you're having trouble on your left side. I would consult with your existing dentist or entertain finding another one that friends/family go to, reviews, etc... When deciding to get the work done I would ask about... -Using glum or desensitizer when they're placing the filling to help with discomfort afterwards. -If they need to crown it- ask about different materials and what would be the most conservative option in order to still get a good result (emax, vs zirconia) Lmk if I can help in any additional way. Hey Doc, I'm 21 and I just had an upper molar tooth extraction and I can't decide whether to do implants or bridges. So which one do you think is better for my age.
@drhoulikАй бұрын
Thank you for the comment and question. Do you remember which tooth number you had extracted? It's tough to say without looking at the condition of the adjacent teeth and your bone, healthy history and knowing what works for you finance wise. Assuming there is enough bone, your health is good, your can afford it and the adjacent teeth are in good condition then my personal opinion is the implant could be a better option. But... If the bone is questionable. The adjacent teeth need to be worked on, finances are tight, then bridge may not be a bad idea. After things heal I think the most important thing would be to consult with your dentist (or someone who's experienced in placing implants), discuss pros and cons of each, etc.. and go from there. That way you're making the best decision based on all the information and what works for you. I'm happy to help however I can. If you send an X-ray or pic. @drhoulikАй бұрын
I can't say that getting a bridge would solve the TMD/TMJ. It'd be good to have your dentist check your bite (see if things have shifted), evaluate tissues (airway/soft palate area), do a TMJ evaluation. If the TMD stress is from your occlusion and your dentist could improve things with some form of restoration-then in theory it could be beneficial. But at the end of the day-I'd treat them as separate issues-being what's the best way to replace the tooth if that's important and what's the best way to manage the TMD. Hope that helps!

If the implants are healthy but the dentures keep breaking a couple things that come to mind... -The design of the denture (how much tissue it covers) -The thickness of the denture in the appropriate areas -The distance between the implants (if they're too close it can weaken the denture and make it more prone to breaking) -Bite forces and occlusal stresses Let me know if I can help in any way- possibly sending pics, etc.. and maybe giving some insight.

I did an implant about a year ago. The total cost was crazy ($7,000) for one tooth but I also had to have a bone graft prior to the surgical procedure to install the titanium implant post. The other downside was the time need to heal between each step and the wait for the surgeons schedule. It was about eight months to get the procedure combined with a three month wait to get in with the doctor and dentist. So the implant was expensive, somewhat painful, and it took a long time, but I'm pleased with the result and the doctor and dentist did a great job. Also the surgeon used a surgical robot to properly locate the hole for the titanium post. Great technology but crazy expensive.
