Your cup is empty because it doesn't exist. You're detaching yourself from material reality. You correctly identify that overwork is causing you to feel alienated, I recommend reading Marx's "Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts." Notice how you felt at peace when connecting with animals and nature. Make that your reality

My spiritual journey started from dream journaling. Before that, I would always keep a notebook next to my bed so that I would put cool ideas down that would pop into my head. I've also had success with polyphasic sleep. Also channeling stories from spirits. So I see spirituality and creativity in the same stream.

My 1st AD on the first project that I wrote and directed, told me, "We'll fix it in post." It was a hot mess in editing it together. My advice is to take care of it the RIGHT WAY unless you really have no time. I would suggest to get the shot if you have time later that same day. It's not worth the stress in editing later. Great advice Seda!

What an amazing episode?! This might be my favorite thus far. Great tips for real life or any production like Shranjay said in the comments. My past experiences on set do determine who I work with in the future. Also, it's important to know your worth and not be taken advantage of on set. Speak up, if something doesn't feel right or you don't feel comfortable. Being on set can be hard, but it also should feel safe, fun, and comfortable for all parties involved.

Final Draft must come up with a way to make it more user friendly. A lot (most?) screenwriters are not technically adept. I doubt that the developers are writers or they would know how to make it more user friendly. Also, the upgrades are way too expensive. They're going to lose their position as the go-to software for the industry as the others give writers what they wants. I've had WriterDuet for years and it's awesome for real-time collab, and you can also export it to FD format.

Yes, slowing down is a good first step. Maintain boundaries and be careful about not jumping at every op that comes along. Creative people are thrilled when someone values their creativity, but be careful about doing stuff for free. After all, you've spent a fortune in training and years to gain experience. Asking professional people to pay you for your expertise is healthy! (Of course, friends who exchange for each other is something most of us naturally do. But again, value your time!) Thank you, Seda, for your insight and for sharing the resources. :)

There are still things I miss from Final Draft like the ease of transitioning from Character to Parenthetical to Dialogue, but other than that, Arc Studio takes the cake on everything else. Hi Seda, this was super informative. Thank you. I’m curious about the one year program that your friend went to. Does it still exist? I really want to go to a film school but can’t afford it. I’m still early in the game so I know I have a ton to still learn. And thank you for the tips they are definitely helpful and now I know where to start and what to do. That was funny with the sound disruption 😂 you played that so well. Your story is amazing. To go from a chemical engineer to a screenwriter. I understand where your parents are coming from because I’m a mom myself so I totally get it. But you do have to follow your dreams. Because you are right you only live once so why waste it. God has given us specific special talents and yours was obviously writing and now look at you. You have built a career and are successful at it. I applaud you for taking that leap of faith and pursuing it. I’m giving myself one year to learn the craft and setting myself deadlines and a schedule to continue to educate myself. I’m going to be patient and not give up and hopefully one day I can say I’m a screenwriter. Thanks again for all the tips. May god continue to bless you on this journey. Talk to you soon 😊
