I found that a Foley catheter is an instrument of torture! Blood loss, pinching pain at end of urethra, ravaged skin on my leg where the Statlock was glued on. If you ever have to go in a catheter again, I highly recommend doing intermittent self-catheterization if possible. 4-6x per day, you slide the cath in, then take it out as soon as you are empty. Hollister and Medline are two large vendors of this catheter type.

How in the heck do you get the catheter in bro? Isn't that difficult? The thought terrifies me! That's why I didn't do any treatment yet cuz I am scared if that happens. Did I get urinary retention.
@CrustyCrip
@CrustyCrip 26 күн бұрын
@@ricknowak4582 It is VERY easy! I am using mainly the Cure HM14C catheter now. It is hydrophilic, so when you bust the water packet inside the catheter wrapper, the water makes the coated shaft very slippery. I don't feel a thing when I slip the catheter into the pee-hole. The only discomfort you might experience, is when BPH or prostate cancer has formed an obstruction in the prostate; in that case, shoving the catheter through the obstruction can be uncomfortable unless you go very slow. First empty your bladder as much as you can on your own, then put the catheter in. If you have retention, the catheter will extract an additional amount of urine from the bladder.

Thanks for this great video. Sounds just like my current situation… had surgery 5 days ago and had the same issues with the tape for the tube…. So I ordered more from Amazon that are being delivered today which will solve my current concern! I also skipped the narcotics and kept using stool softener since I tend to force a but when I normally start to go! My cuts are closed with metal staples which will be removed with the removal of the catheter in 3 days!

I had a Urethoplasty in June when they removed the Foley it was in the X-ray department. They filled me with contrast. I told them my bladder was large and it was used to holding 300cc of urine, so they better put in 350 to 400cc of contrast. It still took 30 minutes for my bladder to wake up. Of course my dick was in a urinal,so when I started to pee. Of course it was of every monitor-in the room with 3 people watching 😂 finally I said I think I can go so the started the X-ray it was good for the doctor. They said I could go in the bathroom and pee. When I did it went everywhere but the toilet! Kind of like a sprinkler, so had to clean the bathroom and then get dressed 🤦‍♂️when I saw the surgeon the next week he ask about the flow and I said it is like a sprinkler! I told him the catheter tore me up pretty good , so he checked and though the outside was healing pretty good but the inside still needed more healing. Finally it got to two streams and lately just one. Most of the time I sit down instead of standing. The ED was bad, I went to the urologist three weeks ago and he gave me a script for Cialis! 5 mg once a day things are improving. That is my saga

Good suggestions I had another surgery in June ! I had urethroplasty done and had the catheter in for 3 weeks the end of the third week the end of my penis was quite sore from standing and sitting and moving the catheter! But a least the Stricture was gone. I got the catheter out and the surgeon asked how is the flow and I said kind of like a sprinkler system it goes everywhere but where it is supposed to! So I seat to pee so I’m not making a mess. It is better now today is October 1 and sometimes I can still have a double stream.

Depends on a lot of factors. For me, continence came back quickly and I actually appreciated that more than sexual activity returning. Constant leaking can really limit you. Don't fret too much your sexual function will return soon enough. Just like any injury, the nerves take time. One hint your function is returning is morning erections, like we all have before any surgery or radiation.

Thanks, Matthew. My concern is the contrast. I have BPH, could be cancer- but it obstructed my urine flow, backed up to my kidneys, altered their function and where I am, they don't seem concerned about my kidney function with the heavy metal contrast. My question is, how did the contrast feel? Was it weird? Heat? Cold? Vomiting? I hope you get what you need and even though you seem fairly calm, I'm guessing your concern is justifiably high. I'll wait for your answer. Thanks for making this video.

Apologies for the tardy reply. Right now I have no issues -- no need for pads, no need for any special underwear. The problem for me now rests with full erection, of which it is still not 100% flag pole quality, though it is ever so slightly getting better, day by day. So, first 2 concerns: cancer and continence were resolved and I am thankful for the doctors at UChicago. However, ED, at least pre-OP quality erections, still are an elusive animal that I have yet to catch. As soon as I can get that back, I will definitely let everyone know. And in terms of your recovery, my prayers are with you brother.

Dear Matthey ! My name is Oleg, I am from Latvia, 57 years old, and in June after biopsy diagnosed with 2 stage prostate cancer. Great Thanks for Your open and honest posts ! My surgery (what I have been suggested by urologists) planned in 10 days, and what to say, I am a kind of nervous, emotionally stressed - especially I have never undergone any surgery, not telling about issues with catether ! Here in Latvia we don`t have robotic prostate surgery - as the country (and probably market) is not so big, but planned surgery will be laparoscopy, and it assuage a bit my agitation. Very few valuable information I could find in latvian or even russian languages, that is more prevalent here, so I am happy to find You and some other guys who have the courage wishing to share this tough experience - it is real support and help for many of us, getting in similar situation, and try to record similarly my chronicle ... What I am afraid except of the main outcome - be free from cancer and get continence (even not such sexual potency) - is postsurgical pain, and looking at You record I see that it might be not so tremendous.... Generally I try to encourage myself with the thought that if there is some permanent things in our life - it is lack of constancy and stability, and when we get used to something that seemed to be changeless, the time has come and it bring changes... but very difficult is to change the mind for the new reality... If You could tell a bit about how did You slept (in what position, how to secure from turning from side to side) and maybe rigs You used ? And also (apart of walking, if You did) what kind of exercises You practiced just after surgery and how intensive ? I plan to make some shallow squats, push-ups against the wall and some legs movements (some small swinging while staying etc). Once again, Great Thanks and completely full recovery !!!!

Let me know how the surgery went. I hope you kicked the prostate cancer's @$$. If you do have a KZbin channel, please share it if you are so willing. In regards to your questions: 1. Sleeping immediately post-op and the first few weeks was mainly was laying flat on my back. Not special rigs or straps needed to secure me :0) 2. Before surgery, prepare yourself by stretching and lose as much weight as possible. As men, we tend to work ourselves to death and not take care of our health. So anyone planning for surgery, needs to treat the event like preparing for a marathon. Be passionate about getting fit. I like to listen to David Goggins, best to go to his Facebook site: facebook.com/iamdavidgoggins. He really has overcome so many obstacles, and inspires me to go beyond what limitations others put on us. 3. After surgery, take it easy for the first few weeks, simply trying to walk about 1 city block can be tough, especially with the catheter (from my videos you will tell that I hated that catheter, gosh I really hated it). 4. After the first few weeks, increasing distance of walking but take it easy still, Remember, your internal organs and nerves are trying to heal and right themselves. 5. After about 16 weeks, up your game. Increase distance and try jogging. Try lifting weights. **** I will try to do a video on exercises for everyone, but what you mentioned is good. We all have different levels of fitness, the main thing is that you try. Every mountain climb begins with the first step. *** I am here for your brother, prayers for a speedy recovery and no cancer!

I had mine done in Chicago at NW. As of today which is exactly ten months post op all is well. I was low volume G6 two out of twelve cores and was recommended to do active surveillance but thought it would be best for me the get it out before it got worse. Regardless of what they say about G6 never spreading there have been a very small percentage that did and was possibly related to an undetected G7 or higher. Bottom line is there is no 100% to know until the prostate is out and in pathology.
