i searched this 2 years ago and couldnt find one so i case swapped the same pc myself. my stupid ah prebuilt came with a gtx 1650 and buying this pc basically gave me a headache. ngl building one wouldve been more money worth. now i have chosen to change basically change everything about the pc except for the cpu, motherboard and m.2 ssd. i really would not recommend this pc

I just followed the cables up to the top of the case, removed all of the tape holding it down, and just tucked it with the rest of the cable nest in the back of my new case (I don't use the wifi, but it still works fine)

good video cinde thx for sharing. just wondering, do you keep backups? A nas or a usb external drive would complement your desktop pc so you can backup to it. a backup means you have files in the different storage devices at all times to qualify as a backup. Since if one goes down, you refer to the other to copy back the data.

I have the exact same ASUS system. This video has been wonderful! So have I got this right? The Case comes with three front mounted SP120 RGB Elites. The ID Cooling system came with a 120 x 15 mm ‘slim form fan’ and you replaced the fan part with a Corsair SP120 - same model as the three front mounted fans, correct? The back fan is a different model of Corsair - an AF120 RGB Elite. In Corsair’s world is the SP vs. AF naming significant of the difference between Pressure and Volume? Also - Did you have any concerns about adding the fan power draw to an already rather anemic 500W PSU?
@catcertino2 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yes that's pretty much what I did. SP fans are meant for radiators and you want AF fans pretty much everywhere else. You can look up their specs, and I'm sure someone out there has tested the difference in practice. The fans themselves shouldn't draw too much power.

What other cases could I get? No idea what I'm doing about case swapping. Any size or something to look for I got the same pre built.
@catcertino3 ай бұрын
Any case that fits a micro ATX motherboard (which is what the prebuilt came with) should generally be fine; the case I got fits up to a standard ATX motherboard so you can see that there's a lot of empty space in it, which doesn't look as nice if that matters to you (but I can upgrade to larger components if I want to in the future)

Nice build and modding! I was looking for some <30L cases and YT recommended me this vid. One suggestion i have, that should give some better results, is elongating the ducts from the noctua fans with a smaller outer ring. Since fans are around 9cm, an outer duct of 75-80mm. This should increase the static pressure and u can potentially run them at even lower rpm for the same results. Maybe some minor pattern on the inner side of the duct can help when GPU is under heavy load. Even better if the GPU facing panel is non mesh with only holes being the intakes from the ducts straight into the GPU cooler. Since the general idea of the build is to intake from the bottom primarily and sides to assist in cooling specific parts, you could have rotated the PSU 180* in the Y axis so it gets fresh air from outside the case. I cant eye ball it if it fits but usually ATX PSU are around 12cm or less on the fan side. The problem is if u position it like that with the power bottom facing the bottom intake, it will create turbulence. On the other side if u place the cables in the bottom, it will be more messy and the PSU will exhaust really warm air into the mobo. Something that will help overall with temps is under-volting. You can also use cheap and efficient fans like Artic P12/14 MAX for your CPU cooler. Pretty excellent for its price for both airflow and SP. Usually you use a fan with good SP on radiators and the middle fan on dual tower coolers. Shouldn't make much diff in normal use for those short coolers. This one does good on both so its a win win. If you decide to use it as intake, their are not know for their exceptional QC so those rubber corners from your new cute coasters might come in handy. LOL Some things that is outside of this project in case u want to experiment more in the future: - Corsair has the shift line of ATX PSU when the connections are on the side, would have helped with this build if the second suggestion is possible - Those "chimney" like airflow cases should work with the very first orientations of the cases we had with the PSU being above the VRM. On the horizontal orientation should be even better since now the previous orthodox top of the case becomes the side so u can chose to intake fresh air or the warm one from VRM. Im saying this in case u find a cheap old style case and want to experiment it in the future once your pockets recover from this project.

@physxme3 ай бұрын
"Hot air wants to rise". It really doesn't matter that much when you have decent active cooling fans. PC case manufacturers like Silverstone make vertical airflow cases and use the "chimney effect" as a big selling point, but it's the fans that are doing the heavy lifting. IIRC Gamers Nexus' testing on the Silverstone Raven case showed that vertical or horizontal orientation doesn't tangibly affect cooling performance.

@mattperjes61733 ай бұрын
this is really cool, especially all the custom fab for the custom parts. I do think you could have optimized the cooling a bit more and not use as many fans by adjusting the fan curves using a software like fan control. You could set the fan curves so that your intake fans can run at a higher rpm than your exhaust, thus you'll always be pulling in more air than out. All in all though really cool build, hopefully the video gets more recognition on the algorithm.
