@@Koiddd I personally build SFF mainly for my setup aesthetics, not for portability. Running a 13900k/rtx 4080 in a lian li q58. Building in ITX just hits different, and is more rewarding. My next build is going to be inside a Velka 3 with the 8700g for my girlfriend. Regular atx/m-atx building just seems boring to me after like 3-5 years of my experience :D

with a similar budget (~$2200usd) about a year ago, i built for a friend a 7800x3d/4080 rig in a dan/lian li a4-h2o sff case. 240mm aio, 32gb 6000 cl30 ddr5, 4tb nvme storage. took advantage of some good open box deals at micro center, otherwise it would have cost a bit more, of course.

Tbh, this is why if you're uncertain of things, or have questions about building your PC, Microcenter's employees are happy/available to assist you with finding the parts you need, or (for a fee) they can even build the PC for you in-store @ the front in order to help you guarantee you've got all the parts you need! 👍 Just make sure you have patience, because sometimes the stores/employees can be pretty busy 😢

My Q58 has a RTX 3090 and Ryzen 5900X with a NZXT 280mm Kraken Elite AIO in it. You have to remove the SSD caddy, use SFX PSU and install GPU first before anything else (after you ran the cables to the appropriate spots) But yes, it is not a case for first time builders. SFF cases are generally not friendly to build in but much harder if you don't plan how you route cables and get all the components in. 10:05

One of thing that make me fall in love when building new PC was read the manual book and try new technology on it. You can download manual book nowadays before you buy and it help a lot for specify a fix part you want. I live at Rural area in Asean country and second part market was bigger than new part it self. But, when you don't precisely know what you need then it will much costly either time or money you spent

For the bottleneck issue, it won’t bottleneck if the cpu is much powerful than the gpu. Bottleneck happens if the gpu is way too powerful and the cpu can’t keep up. So i7 14th gen can definitely work with a 4060 no bottleneck will happen.

I was thinking as I was watching: "14700K with a 4060? No no please don't do that... oh, okay, you went down to an i5. Much more balanced that way." Rule of thumb when building a gaming PC: Buy the most powerful GPU you can afford (about 1/3 to 1/2 of your budget for the PC), and then buy a CPU that won't bottleneck the GPU. Too may folks make the mistake of buying a high-powered CPU and pairing it with a lower-powered GPU, and end up spending a lot of money for lower gaming performance.

I feel your pain in unintended build issues, I rather recently bought a new PC case for my daughter since it was a Hatsune Miku themed. I'd seen it a few months prior on newegg, but by the time i had decided to rebuild my daughters PC it was no longer available. However I found it on ebay...didn't even think about its SIZE, but bought it and began cursing myself for not checking the inner dimensions. Got her stuff all inside, but the AOI i'd bought for it wouldnt fit short of modding the case. I knew better and I still failed, just out of haste because I wanted this specific case

If his main target was to play Genshin then just look up the PC requirements for it (which I looked, it's pretty easy to meet them in 2024) then go a little higher than that. You could also make it even easier & just a buy a pre-built gaming PC. Ya a little more pricey than DIY & you don't learn as much but you shouldn't run into troubleshooting & incompatibilities. An entertaining video nonetheless. Wish we had a Microcenter in Canada. Anyway thanks for sharing. :)

Great lesson learned today do your research before buying anything. 1650$ is insane for a pc to just play genshin impact. Genshin is like such a low demanding game on top of the fact that it's fps capped at 60 you could literally run the game on a potato. 3:30 what I think hoagie meant was that in terms of future proofing the next gen of cpu from intel aka 15th gen will require a completely new motherboard then what's currently available. Since he has a 14th gen cpu which is the newest current gen it doesnt really matter if he goes with ddr4 or ddr5 motherboard because down the line if he wants to upgrade he will need a whole new motherboard anyways as no matter what motherboard he picks right now will be compatiable with the next gen of cpu. In terms of getting ddr5 to future proof ddr6 is already on its way give or take 2-3 years so by the time he even needs a new pc which given the spec he has wont be for a while he could easily get a way better newer pc. This is why future proofing is kinda dumb if your getting top end stuff. By the time the new great tech comes out because your pc was already the current best for that time period all the new stuff will be incompatible with your curent pc because they require the next generation of parts. Overall great entertaining video and if you ever build another pc please use pcpartpicker or some other online checker to understand the size and limitation of your component I find that they do a great job of eliminating parts that arent compatible with your pc for example the cooler yall bought on pcpartpicker the tool wont even allow you to add that item to your build cause it knows that it isn't compatible with your other parts

Future proof? Better use AMD then. Plus, with intel, make sure to use intel baseline profile (set manually if your mobo doesn't have it, and you'll still need to check it if the value are correct afterwards) to avoid any stability issue with 14th gen you're using. Edit: oh and if you're using high end cpu from Intel, better use liquid cooler.

imho intel 14th gen are bad for mini itx build since they run ridiculously HOT and need beefier liquid cooling.. they are the hottest cpu in the market. very bad on running tighter spaces. radiator need some larger spaces to radiate the heat inside the very small case... may u could swap to mATX case with slightly bigger space, but yet u still on small factor. like lian li o11 mini or asus ap201 case... ryzen 5800x3d or 7800x3d is best build for gaming itx currently.. they run cooler and low power consumption. u dont really need liquid cooling for it

When you were talking about the memory I think you need to correct it a little bit, You cannot stick DDR4 Ram on that motherboard there just isn't a way to. It is only DDR5 Compatible. Since you're running the 12th-14th Gen CPU series from intel aka the i7 14700k he has to run DDR5 he cannot go DDR4 at all. If he did you'd have to take a trip back to micro center to exchange it. It is not about future proofing there just is 0 possibility of putting DDR5 into the sockets on that motherboard. You did a good job at explaining the differences just a little off on what you could do and might confuse other people new to building PC's. the RAM is mostly a combability issue not only with your motherboard but your CPU as well.

Like I build computers for so many people and the stuff you guys picked is kinda standard what people send me links about and I correct them, to bad no one corrected this.. To buy a 4060 is the biggest misstake you can do if it's not like at least 25% off and even then it's actually 8 GB vram and some cards from 10 years ago have that lol. I whould not have picked a single thing you guys actually picked but ye fun non the less I guess even if Im autistic as fakk. I whould have gone with a 7600X, 32 gb 6000mhz ram, standard ATX or MATX for both motherboard and case and probably a 7900GRE, standard m2 disc 2 tb kingston is usually good for it's price. The small formfactor with a 14000 series processor is doomed to be hot af btw. Cooler is always and always will be the Arctic freezer for performance and price. AMD has a lot better upgrading path as well btw.

geeeeeezzzzzzz money not well spent. I would have gone with the micro center cpu, mobo, and ram combo for major savings. Oh wait nevermind, micor center doesnt have a itx bundle lol itx builds are expensive as shit lol but it looks like yall had fun :)

This is very entertainng tbh, but i am curious thou why go through all that trouble from buying a small case where errors and risks and potentially limited parts could occur anytime than just buying a regular sized case for less of those problems. Just curious thou.
