Respectfully, I think the 1997 remaster ending is the superior ending. But, I grew up with that one so I might be biased.

Does anyone have an edit with this song and version of the ending with the other planets reacting to the fall of the empire?

The transition from Yub Nub to the orchestra is so emotionally gratifying to us who were there since 77. I really like the new Victory Celebration of the SE, but I love the original. Yub Nub!

Never understood why they changed Anakin from Sebastian Shaw to Hayden Christensen. Does this not mean you would have to change Obi Wan from Alex Guinness to Ewan MacGregor. Absolute nonsense decision.

I prefer original versions of both Star Wars and Empire, but Return of the Jedi... I gotta have my panflute at the end man. The only part of Star Wars I could say I fell in love with as a child and is part of my childhood in a way I deeply care about is Return of the Jedi, the parts with Jabba's palace, speeders in the forest, teddybears (yes, I know what they're called, Ewoks), and the epic showdown with Luke, Vader and Emperor. I don't really care for the Ewoks anymore, but those other things, still my favorite Star Wars. Of course I don't want Hayden's Vader ghost though. Think it was the first upgraded 90s version I saw. Oh Crap! I forgot the Rancor and the wrangler guy crying. That's also on my childhood nostalgia list.

Who else came here to see this after Matt Gourley sang it on "Conan OBrien Needs A Friend" and needed to hear it for themselves?

I only grew up with the special editions....where Return ends with that majesticly beautiful, emotional music playing over this scene. I never understood why so many older people disliked this movie so much....then I found out THIS was how it ended originally..........yup, I get it.

it did feel like young anakin was out-of-place in the ending that I saw but that to me made more sense than this tbh + this ending music took away a huge chunk of the emotional impact of "seeing the mentors" scene like wtf was this?? glad I watched the other version...

I still have this whole movie, this scene included, on a VHS that was ripped back in the 80s or 90s.
