The whole open world is just boring dungeons with one item, various crafting and upgrade materials, and the annoying invisible beetles that waste time.

Weird how Fromsoft fanboys act like Soulsborne is so stressful and punishing when you lose absolutely nothing when you die, and respawn at a checkpoint, whereas in Darkest Dungeon, you lose your heroes and trinkets you spent hours if not tens of hours obtaining and building up, on top of the fact that Darkest Dungeon is turned based and does not have any embrassing exploits. In Darkest Dungeon there's not really any way to just go into the game and obliterate everything with summons or co-op partners or OP builds. There's actual RPG elements.

i loved des og, ds and bb. i'm a fan of souls games but not a fanboy and i loved this take as souls games are amazing but not without their bs. i will have to go back to elden ring as i only played a couple hours of it so don't have much to say about it but i'm not a huge fan of the open world. i much prefer the hub worlds of ds/bb but i guess the modern audience likes their open worlds.

Agreed with the identity problem, I played dragon age origins and the first bit of inquisition and felt the gameplay experience was way different to the point it turned me off from the series.

My biggest problem with this game is that the basic mechanics and structure of the game goes against what it wants you to do: Explore. Any time I do a slight misstep, screw something up, fall into a black hole on Brittle Hollow, or even stand in the wrong spot when something happens in the world, I can die and have to restart or I will be thrown miles and miles away from where I once was. If you want me to explore your game, then LET ME EXPLORE IT. Constantly making me start over and over again is NOT FUN, IT IS ANNOYING. And don't get me started on the fanbase of this game. They are the worst part! Constantly heaping praise on it when they can't even describe why it was so good, or when you bring up valid complaints they just hit you with the pretentious line of " you just don't get it," or "you're not intelligent enough to understand!" Give me a break. The story is not complicated at all and is told in a lazy and boring manner of just reading squiggly lines. Most overrated and boring/annoying game I've played in a long time.

So Dragon Age Identity is in my opinion 3 things: Borrowing body horror visuals and designs for the core villian of the setting, the Blight; struggle with morality of decisions on the main character and examining of the human condition on part of the supporting characters; and last but not least feudal machiavelian politics. Dragon Age Origins played into each of the 3 points fairly equally though the body horror aspect was fairly front and center. DA2 was also fairly balanced though with a bit less focus on the blight and darkspawn and more of a focus on morality and companions. DAI has pulled even further back on the body horror elements entrenched in the setting and moved very hard on the feudal machiavelian politics. Now the way that DA2 and DAI moved away a bit from the body horror desingn and visuals wasn't also just a shift in focus. DA2 updated the absolutly attrocious combat of DA:O and DAI build upon it. By making the combat system a bit more flash the effect of the body horror elements just vanished. Sitting in a dark forest in the middle of nowhere with just a breakfast knife and a candle hits different compared to having NVG and a B.F.G. Yet it was those elements that together with the other 2 that gave DA its dark fantasy identity. Dragon Age Veilguard gamified the Blight and Darkspawn and while giving us the best combat and skill system in the entire series absolutly overdid it on spectale rendring the blight comical. It sanitized the Crows and Lords of Fortune in order to make them family friendly (???) and stripped away any serious questions about ethics or morality out of the game. Wheres feudal machiavelian politics are only present in an nointereactive companion quest line. Despite DA2 and DAI together being a fairly big departure from DA:O each of the 3 games focused on a different aspect of the settings core pillars. Pillars that Dragon Age Veilguard outright abbadoned.

I just want to note, there is a heroic way to save everyone in Origins. You can petition the Circle to save Connor without Blood Magic. You can lift the curse on the wolves in the forest. You can even spare Loghain if you want. I know what you're saying, it has those dark options that Veilguard doesn't, but I just wanted to note that you can always make the best choice rather than the best choice you're offered to resolve it right that second. It's the lack of those choices to explore a character's moral alignment that has been missing largely since DA2 (Hawke can be evil, but Kirkwall has less impact on the world than Origins or Inquisition, so one bastard making some evil choices isn't huge but still relevant). In the rest of the games you can make questionable choices, and even some evil ones in 2, but since DAI, there hasn't really been an option to be the bad guy. I'm personally fine with it, but I can see where it would rub some wrong, especially after the masterpiece that is BG3 as Dark Urge.

The correlation between DEI and poor game design or storytelling feels undeniable. In my view, DEI-driven decisions often reflect broader trends like dumbing down, safe-spacing, and cancel culture (woke capitalism). Studios play it safe out of fear-fear of breaking from mainstream narratives or being seen as exclusive or offensive. The result? Boring, shallow games that sacrifice depth and character for ideology. Examples like The Last of Us 2 (so bad!), the ending of Game of Thrones (so sad!), and the new Lord of the Rings series (what did they do to my boy?) highlight this trend. It’s disappointing to see creativity take a backseat in modern media.

I have done two full play troughs of Veilguard and have only played Inquisition prior. I still enjoyed the Veilguard, but the things i like about it came from other games, not Dragon Age. You haven't gone crazy. I kind of expected the art style and combat to move in this direction, but i would have never guessed that they would overshoot the target so far that they would alienate their own fans. The dialog, game world and game design are so incredibly simplified that it coddles players to an extend that it insults their intelligence. It's like they didn't understand their own audience.

I would have been very upset if this game wasn’t for free on plus and I had to pay for it, horrible combat that has zero weight to it.

I am hating this game. Long winded pointless conversations. Clunky , unclear interface menu system. I still can't figure how to restock potions when used. Long drawn out repetitive battles. Hard, drawn out , muddled battles. I find myself skipping most conversations just to get to a pointless repetitive battle. I am likely deleting this hot trash game.

ngl i pirated the game and the only issues i had was running it at higher resolution in valhalla dlc (rtx 3060 ti 8gb trying to run dldsr 2.25x) i had to go back to 1440p dlss q with frame gen to play it fine.

no problems for me fortunately. ran perfectly well. Even had fov mod lol so im not resting on kratos' shoulder the whole time

Elden Ring is a good game, but definitely overrated. It's so inconsistent in that its highs are very high, but its lows are also very low. There are just so many problems, from the unnecessary and soulless open world, the frankly lazy NPC quests, the camera they still refuse to zoom out on arena-sized bosses, the clunky 2011 character movement and even clunkier D-Pad item menu straight out of 2009's Demon's Souls completely unchanged (seriously, item use during boss fights is just terrible with these fast, aggressive bosses; "ok, you go ahead and do your 10 hit, arena crossing, dashing combo while I stand here and take a big, slow gulp from my Estus flask like it's still 2011 and then flick through my item or spell list one item at a time which, by the way, I have to awkwardly reach my right thumb over to click."), etc. I could go on, but now I'm rambling.

The perk system here is just a worse version of LoP's p organ system
