I just go the MTF Pro Steel for Bauer Edge holders - is it normal for the MTF steel to snap into the holder, but the trigger not fully return like it does with the original steel? It's locked in and I can't pull it out without pulling the trigger, but much easier to remove than the original steel. Just curious if this is how they should fit in the Edge holder. Thanks!

How do you change the profile of the blade instead of the standard contour? In other words, it ships with a contour in the steel. How do I change that? Won’t it move if a profile shim is attached while shaving the steel?!

Do the holes for the true holders and Bauer holders line up perfectly? I was thinking about buying true skates and using Bauer runners because I have more spare Bauer blades, but I don’t want to have to drill new holes in the boot or try to fill the old holes.

There is a reason when a pro player uses True skates, they have the TU'UK holder installed however 'if your replacing shift holders replacing them with ccm holders lineup way closer to shift holders hole wise. Can't figure out why Scott V can't figure it out yet. most people want to play hockey not speed skating.

Nice video. I replaced my Bauer customs with TF9s. Only then did I realise why I couldn’t do many edge drills. Now I can do really nice forwards crossrolls, powerpulls and three turns, and my backwards crossrolls and powerpulls are coming on. Skate fit is critical. Even Bauer customs won’t fit some feet, like mine. Comfy, yes, supportive, no. Bauer customs as sold in the shops are really just stock skates, sized to each foot, with a bit of heat and pressure moulding. With a wide foot and narrow ankle like mine, the ankles won’t be supported laterally. The TF9s fit so well. I don’t need to really tighten the laces, honestly they feel almost loose, and yet I can feel and control the edges. I also skip the last from top eyelets. The only negative, they are hard to get on and off. One tip. Before wrapping, for each skate insert a shim between the top three eyelets and the tongue. Do this on the outer eyelets, not the inner ones. It helps a lot, at least with my foot shape. Without the shims, putting them on and taking them off is very painful.

After years wearing Bauer customs, I’ve discovered why I struggle with skating drills. I moved up to True TF9s, and suddenly edge drills are easy: powerpulls, crossrolls, Russian stroking etc. The damned Bauers don’t provide enough support. I have wide forefeet and narrow ankles. I wonder how many people are like me? My next skates will also be true, custom or Hzrdus. I am impressed that I get custom level comfort from stock boots.
@StillAliveAndKicking_7 ай бұрын
I went from Bauer customs to True TF9, a massive upgrade. Just as comfortable, but much more supportive, and my skating has improved dramatically. My feet are the wrong shape for Bauers. At first I couldn’t get them on without significant pain, even when twisting my foot. I rebaked them with a 4 mm thick rubber shim under the top three eyelets on the outside only. Now they slide on and off, not easy but not painful. I read that you shouldn’t pull or push the tendon guard when putting on and taking off the boots. And always remove insoles off ice. I use Bauer speed plates.

Nice that you guys are making skating accessible for people with non symmetrical leg lengths. How did you guys come up with 2.5 cm did you guys measure her?
@bsharpottawa7 ай бұрын
We deal with a number of the ortho/podiatrists that specialize in this sort of thing. We only really show the extreme cases, like this one. In general we are splitting the difference in leg length. She has a 5cm leg length difference, so we built a 2.5cm lift.

What’s the difference between a contour and profile? True shift steel comes stock 9.5/10.5. Is that a contour or profile? Seems like with the marsblade you would want the 14 mars insert for the agility/ancceleration. And say a 13’ or longer single profile for the glide and speed. Seems like a lot of possibilities. Do you know how much the marsblade holder and steel weigh?

The stock contour on the True MAX stuff is 9.5/10.5. Their old steel was 9/10. These are Bauer holders, and we profiled them to a 9.5/10.5 contour with profile adjustments as well. That's a 322.
