I’ve got five pair of Wolverine 1000 mile and all the Leather looks great on them. I think everyone talking about how bad the Leather looks or strictly referring to stride wise video in which he was probably wearing seconds. However, three pairs of my oak Street boot maker trench boots have loose grain And I’m very disappointed with those.

any thoughts on how slippery these boots are? i find them way less grippy especially on slick surfaces as compared to other boots with rubber soles. had a couple of huge near-slips which makes me cautious of wearing them sometimes

Seems like we have a similar style mate. Love the blue shirt and white undershirt. And I love a nice dark brown or chestnut 🌰 boot like that. Sooooo nice

With Truman you get a much thicker upper than GS or Parkhurst, and thicker midsole and insole, more like PNW boots. Just make sure you get matching tounge, that one definitely looks no good

Great, thorough review. Wolverine is currently (late November 2024) running a Christmas sale on their 1000 Mile Boots for 50% off. I picked up a pair of plain-toe classic boots in Havanna Brown for $200, though my wife says I have to wait until Christmas to open and wear them. Lol. It's nice to get a pair of American-made boots at a decent price (though I'm sure many of the non-leather materials are "globally sourced"). I would have preferred cap-toe boots, but they only had them in black, and I'm not a fan of black boots in general.

Similar price to meermin is myqvist from Sweden. GYW and decent leather. Not as good as RMWs imo but it’s also half the price

How do you find this pair compared to your meermins Chelsea?
@wd7080Ай бұрын
I bought Meermin shoes for +$300, only to get hit with a 40% customs fee via a surprise invoice from UPS after I’d already started wearing them, making it impossible to return. I reached out to Meermin for assistance, but they never responded. If you’re in Canada, beware of unexpected charges and poor customer service-think twice before ordering from Meermin.

i see more and more complains about Viberg's QC, missing or wrong information on the website, not matching leather patterns on shoes. i wonder if this is acceptable at this price point. Great job on your slippers. i love them

Would you say the Grant Stone Diesel boots have a slimmer silhouette in terms of the toe box height in comparison to the Viberg 2030?
@Christine_Everywhen2 ай бұрын
Great video - been considering a pair of Grant Stone boots - so very informative. I’m a Canadian and I use a shoehorn 😊. Feel it saves crushing the heels, plus we Canadian mostly take off our shoes inside the house.

The very best shoes I own are Viberg Rockland Bluchers in their 2030. Your pretty much on your own with fitting, though at the end of the day, that's always the case to some degree in this world of mail order boots and shoes. Viberg wouldn't offer a suggestion based on what I wear in a No 23 Red Wing last (11D). I have had a chance to try on Viberg on a trip to the city, but nothing I either wanted in my size, so that was a bit of a fail. Wound up going down 1/2 size from my Red Wing and got lucky, hit a homerun. I don't take that for granted and given the extra cost of shipping which would have applied to a return as well, at least now going forward I have a good metric that someone at Viberg should be able to digest if I ever want to try another last. Not a casual purchase that's for sure, but a superfine shoe. I wouldn't choose the boot featured here for office work, not that I work in one, but I would certainly choose one of their shoes for the office, or a service boot of theirs in a less casual leather.

Show trees DO NOT stretch out your shoes! They do faaaar less than what just wearing them does. If there’s any stretching going on, it’s because you shoved a much bigger tree in your shoes and of course you will get some stretch, but even then very, very minimal. You guys have no idea what you are talking about! 😂😂

So what you saying is that they are good but not "End game" I Just bought a thee stateman because well... I liked how it looked. However, like you said, this doesn't scratch my itch. How would you compare say Captain Thursday VS the Hi-Shine 8 eye Solovairs? Are the Solovair's "End game" worthy. I understand that all of them have different attributes but well I want something long lasting that won't break my wallet. Thanks!
@WakayamsАй бұрын
Thursday brand was never meant to be "end game" as you put it. They're more of a "gateway" boot if anything. But I maintain that they're a *VERY* good brand and their boots a great for the price. They won't be your forever boots, but you can certainly make them last a good 3-4 years. Maybe even a 5th depending on your usecase. Mine have lasted ages

It's true about the hierarchy of boots. Here's mine: Viberg Natty CXL Service Boot 1035 last Viberg Anthracite Roughout Service Boot 1035 last Viberg Oak Chromepak Service Boot 2030 last Red Wing Roughout Iron Ranger White's MP Boot I do regret the whites because they don't fit very well What's your hierarchy?

I have a large boot collection with Red Wing, Nicks, Truman, Whites, Viberg and other brands. I think the Viberg's have the best cuts of CXL and the best attention to detail. All of mine are on the 2030 last. My first pair was the original narrower toe service boots. Went down a .5 to 11.5D which fit well. 2nd pair was the modern 2030 last cap toe in 11.5D which was a little too long. Donated those and bought 2 more pairs in an 11D that fit well. Out of all my service boot makers, I actually like the White's MP boots the most. Also had to go down a full size in the MP boots. They are more of a rugged looking boot while the Viberg boots are almost too nice to beat up......lol

Thanks for this review and especially the sizing details. The Meermin website says to use your US size and size down 1 for UK. But US size isn't defined. Wasn't sure if they mean Brannock size or "boot" size, which always seems to be 1/2 size down. So, if my Brannock is 10.5D, a 9.5E is most likely my best fit? Thanks again.

Unfortunately I have been experiencing the worst customer service experience ever from Meermin Shoes. I ordered a pair of loafers online from their website. The shoes arrived and were a half size too small. So I exchanged them for a half size up. I had to pay $15 dollars for shipping on the exchange. When my ‘new’ exchanged shoes arrived there were defects. I was requested to return this pair for another exchange. Ten days later I received an email from their shipping/billing department that in order for me to receive my exchange I would have to pay another $15 dollars for shipping fees. That would mean that in order to receive the correct size and undamaged I would have to pay $30 above the retail price as listed on their website! On top of this, it’s been extremely difficult communicating with their shipping dept. At first they seemed to have a hard time understanding that I’d requested an exchange for my loafers, not a refund! To receive an acknowledgment of this took weeks!I have contacted their only retail location in the USA (Soho NYC) for assistance. All of the salesmen that I interacted with were understanding, courteous and professional. They too seemed bewildered as to what had transpired. Simply put, dealing with this company via online has been an ordeal!

I think the heel stack goes on after the stitching process. Maybe it got marred while sanding the heel stack in shape. Not sure. Either way, after a week of wearing them you won’t be able to even find it. They look nice.
