Viberg's are over 800 now! I'm a wide D width and I am exchanging a GS Diesel from a D to a E width. My Brannock size is 7.7 and the Truman in 7.5 fits well. I don't have any Vibergs yet, but I tried on a 7.5 and it was too big. I'm definitely a 7 in both Viberg and GS. Thanks for the video.

Finally, a review off 55 last Truman’s . I have 2 in that last - a stone rambler one and a tan colored Rio latigo one. It’s definitely a sleeker look. I love the 55 last but never see reviews of it
@BabblingBootsReviews8 ай бұрын
Yeah I almost never see the 55s available for purchase on the Truman website anymore. That's awesome you have two pairs though! I wish they would do more makeups on this last because it definitely has a nice sleek look, like you said.

I was concerned about the rough back of the speedhook hardware wearing holes in the tongues of my RW Iron Rangers so I bought kilties to protect the tongues. I ordered them first from Rose Anvil and was very disappointed in how thin the leather was. They would have had holes worn through them fairly quickly. I then ordered a pair from Nicks Boots. They were half the price (with shipping included) and more than twice the thickness of the first pair. And the color matched the RW Copper Rough & Tough leather perfectly. I'm very happy with them and my tongues are protected. By the way, I have 2 pair of Grant Stone boots & love them!
@BabblingBootsReviews Жыл бұрын
Grant Stones are definitely solid. That’s great to know Re: the quality difference in the kilties! I’m not a fan of the super thin ones myself - defeats the purpose of protection. I was thinking of making some in the future; sounds like I should get some from Nicks then first and mimic the thickness!

Thanks for a great video. Stupid question, when you lace up which boot’s leather closes the most. In another word, which boot shows the less of the tongue? Thanks again.
@BabblingBootsReviews Жыл бұрын
Good question - I just tried them on, and the Truman and Viberg show the same amount of tongue ~1.5 inches. The Grant Stone shows the least at just 3/4 of an inch. Hope this helps!

Trumans are great. I love my Stone Ramblers and the tongue now matches the leather used to make the boot unlike your older boot. It's quite sturdy and thicker than the tongue on my White's MP Sherman's. They're also lined too.
@BabblingBootsReviews Жыл бұрын
That’s great to know! Glad they use more sturdy tongues on those.

I prefer the 55 last with the unstructured toe. I have coyote roughouts in the 55 last.

Agreed! I just don't think they really make boots on the 55 last anymore, at least I haven't seen any on their site in a long time.

Trumans are killer boots and the natural step up from grant Stones within a reasonable budget. I enjoy both Grant Stones and Trumans which make up a majority of my collection.
@cmiller7299 Жыл бұрын
Step up from Grant Stone? GS looks to have higher quality and finishing than Truman IMO.
@BabblingBootsReviews Жыл бұрын
Can't go wrong with that collection! Grant Stones for casual wear and slightly dress occasions. Trumans for more rugged situations where you might need the boots to take some hits and scrapes
@BabblingBootsReviews Жыл бұрын
@@cmiller7299 The finishing on Grant Stone boots is pretty impeccable and unbeatable at that price range. I find it hard to compare Grant Stone and Truman directly since they tend to fill different needs. If you want a dressier boot than Grant Stone all the way. If you want a boot that's a bit more rugged and durable then Truman probably has the edge there

How are they a step up?
@arindambasu9850 Жыл бұрын
@@bassheadlife492 frankly they are both great. Trumans are chonkier and heavier while GS has a slightly dressier approach. Have both in my collection and live then equally.

These are great looking boots! Let me know if you sell them, and what price. I may be interested! I have the 79 last in both 8 and 8.5 and both work for me. So I am not sure how the 55 last would fit, but I am always interested in trying it. Truman boots are my favorite boots, not all of their more wild leathers appeal to me, but I love their shape and design.
@BabblingBootsReviews Жыл бұрын
I’ll probably do a couple more videos with these boots before I sell them off, but won’t be wearing them anymore. I’ll reach out to you first before I list them to sell. I’m with you on the weird leathers and colors - most of them aren’t my thing either. They need to make more with this Horween Predator leather!
@austinwagley2813 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don't mind those whacky leathers for other people, its really cool way to make a unique collection. I bought the dark natural double shot boots in plain toe, and it is the classiest and best looking boot in my opinion. The shape of their boots is just... so great.@@BabblingBootsReviews

@@austinwagley2813 The double shot offerings they have do look really nice. I think if they ever did a cap toe boot on the 55 last, I would want it in Oxblood double shot. It looks like even better version of color 8 chromexcel

They barely even use the 20 Last. I think Truman or its main customer really like the 79 Last. However I find the 79 kind of boring and from several folks I’ve talked to, the 79 runs very small. I’ve talked to 2 people who actually size 1/2 UP from brannock. I ordered the 20 Last in my brannock size and they are barely big enough. With a thinner sock they work, but my big toe is pushed in slightly. The whole experience soured me with Truman, as their sizing is kind of strange. I honestly have never even seen a 55 on their site. I find their sizing page confusing. I do not see myself buying another Truman, as the whole experience was a little weird. I do love my Natural Cypress 20 Last pair though. They are super dope and fit good enough to keep.
@BabblingBootsReviews Жыл бұрын
Yeah, their page is pretty confusing! They removed a lot of the other lasts from it ( both older and newer lasts) the moment they’re not selling boots on those lasts. I’ve heard a number of people who find the Truman lasts just a bit off as well. Just looked it up, and that Natural Cypress does look nice!

Nice review. I really like their aesthetic and the quality seems appropriate for their price point. My experience on the 79 last is that they fit TTS for my Brannock of 8.5D. By comparison, I wear Grant Stone Diesel in 8D and Viberg 2030 in 7.5E and 8.0E on 2030 last. I think quality wise, that Grant Stone is every bit their equal and maybe even a bit cleaner in stitching. I don't think either are as nice as my Viberg boots. But, I dig them all the same. I really dig Truman's look and toughness. Plus, they are an Oregon company and only a few hours from my home. In addition, the owner of the company is a really good guy and provides good jobs in an industry that I home continues to flourish in the PNW. I hope you find a pair that is your size.

I don’t enjoy the majority of Truman’s boots. They’re very bulbous and ugly looking to me. I like the more elegant dress boot aesthetic of grant stone and Viberg.
@BabblingBootsReviews Жыл бұрын
Exactly my thoughts too! They have really leaned into that bulbous aesthetic recently too, at the expense of their more sleek looking boots which rarely come up now

With Truman you get a much thicker upper than GS or Parkhurst, and thicker midsole and insole, more like PNW boots. Just make sure you get matching tounge, that one definitely looks no good
