Big fan of Grant Stones. Have 6 pairs and all of them are impeccably made and really comfortable at a fair price, even with the recent price hikes.
@BabblingBootsReviews
@BabblingBootsReviews Жыл бұрын
Yeah they are incredibly well made for that price point. I have been heavily eyeing their Brass boots and Ottawa boots lately since those are technically not plain toe haha. Any thoughts on those models?

@@BabblingBootsReviewsI have three pairs of Ottawas in natural CXL, crimson CXL and bourbon suede. This is my favourite model and just the right mix between dressy and casual. Also have the captoes in British tan calf which are also quite lovely. Can't go wrong with any of them.

@@arindambasu9850 Oh nice. I've been eyeing the Ottawa in color 8 but it is sold out in pre-order right now. I might have to get it if it comes back in stock!

Finding the right last is so important. I want to try Viberg, but it’s an expensive experiment. The 2030 last is gorgeous. I agree that Vibergs are about as sexy as it gets. I have 3 pairs of Carmina work boots that are real close though. Aldens are a little sleeker, and there’s a little more arch support, and actual last options. But I only have two pairs, and I have 12 Grant Stones, so you can see my preference. Built even better, at half the cost. And I can wear my Diesels on 20,000 step days with total comfort. My last GS pickup is the cap toe boot in British tan - my new favorite GS pair. Great video, hard to beat real reviews by real folks. Thank you for this.

Yeah if you are able to figure out your Viberg size ahead of time then I would actually recommend finding a used pair on Ebay or Grailed. I actually just recently bought a used pair of Vibergs on Grailed for $350 dollars and cleaned them up myself. They look great now and I paid half the price of a new pair. (Definitely wouldn't recommend going that route if you don't know your size though) I would love to get a pair of Aldens in color 8 shell cordovan but its hard to justify that purchase when Grant Stone makes nicer shoes for a lower cost like you said. Thank you for the kind words and support!

You know your boots are good when they're made in China and still regarded as some of the best

So true, haha. It's pretty impressive they were able to overcome that stereotype to become one of the most highly thought of boot brands.

Would you say the Grant Stone Diesel boots have a slimmer silhouette in terms of the toe box height in comparison to the Viberg 2030?

GS seems to run a bit narrow. You should try Parkhurst or Oak Street. Most of these brands use fake dainite soles and they suck..but Oak Street uses the real ones and they are very comfortable. The Oak Street trench boots are my most comfortable by far. Enjoying your videos!
@BabblingBootsReviews
@BabblingBootsReviews 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion! Oak Street always seems to have some really cool boot/leather combos that I want to try out. I'm just concerned that Oak Street boots will be too wide from looking at photos online, but maybe that's actually a good sign since Vibergs are wide and they fit me very well

Nice video! I have a similar fit issue with my Field Boots -- I feel like the back is too straight, and I just don't get that heel lock-in at all. I have far too many boots from many brands, and this hasn't been a common issue for me.
@BabblingBootsReviews
@BabblingBootsReviews Жыл бұрын
100% agree. This is a rare issue for me as well. It ends up turning me off wearing these, especially since I tend to wear boots trekking everywhere. Even that slight degree of less heel lock-in makes a difference!

After owing multiple Aldens and GS, GS have never had QC issues, while my Alden pairs have had QC issue. Just recently I bought some snuff Indies and the speed hooks are misaligned :/
@BabblingBootsReviews

Oh that's rough. I've never owned any Aldens but I've heard the quality hasn't been so great in recent years. How do you like the Indies aside from that?

Are they narrow? I don’t mind not having a cap, but I don’t want them looking clunky like iron rangers. While you wear them, from the top view of the wearer do they look wide or clunky? Or do they look rather sleek?

How would you compare the quality of Caswell to Grant Stone if you own both? I noticed they are starting to get into hand-welted boots that have more of a heavy workboot style. I'm excited to see where that goes!

@@BabblingBootsReviews I just own Caswell, Viberg, parkhurst, no Grant Stone unfortunately. I'm with you I prefer cap toes though I heard GS will launch a dedicated cap toe line soon. Regarding the Caswell vs GS, the former is more comparable to parkhurst in quality just from my experience. Wish I had GS to give you proper insight.

. from the context it seems moste people that get perfect fit seem to have full d feet. Maybe the slip we are talking about comes from thinner feet in combination with this heel shape.
