Note to the people who organised this activity. They should have hired one lorry to pick up the sheet piling with a long reach Hiab, to transport the piles from the yard to site and off load it with a trained banks man. It looked as though they had to get in another banksman at the top while the operator remained at the bottom because there was no line of sight between the two points, even though there was a 28 page RAMS in place.
@LHCRT19 сағат бұрын
@user-il3nn1vl4w the supplier didn't have anything with a long enough reach, which is why we had to hire in the crane. The crane team was made up of two operators, with our volunteers helping when it was safe to do so, subject to the crane team's RAMS.

The driver said that the company he works for is from Rugeley, I am watching this sitting on my boat moored at Rugeley near bridge 66.

I always smile when I see the sheet piles used for our canals … compared to how we fortify the Railway … particularly where I have been working on the GSM lines around Corby and Kettering … Joking aside, I have great admiration for what you guys are doing… the dedication of everyone involved and the great leaps you’re making in getting this project finished. Keep up the good work and more importantly, stay safe. Off loading from an HGV is not without its complication. The edge protection speaks volumes … a necessary requirement for offloads … brilliant stuff …

No new updates about the actual work? Just this PR?

@@btudrus we have lots of photo updates on Facebook and our other social media, but no videos ready yet. There will be more to come, in time.

There is a new progress report video in the pipeline. Meanwhile, we are desperate for more volunteers hence this ‘PR’.

I had a chance to visit 3 weeks ago. It looks amazing. I diverted after work to see what all the fuss was about. Another canal restoration that may never be restored or a real chance for a big push. I hope so. The many funders and workers should be proud.

I visited recently and have made it back since, seeing the volunteers hard at work and these videos is so encouraging, especially seeing the students adding their footprint on their way to great success here and in their future endeavours. Great Work.

Top job again Paul. Great video. Really interesting to see how much progress has been made in a relatively short space of time. Well done to all involved. 👍🏼

Great work on the saplings. I foresee some hedge weaving days. A woven hedge when mature will stop most cars.

The video also shows, but perhaps doesn't emphasise strongly enough, that none of this would be possible without the tireless efforts of the not-so-young people who made it all happen.

Superb, virtually everything that enhances life in the U.K. is done by volunteers! If we had relied on our previous conservative government nothing would be done! Kudos to ALL volunteers. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

You guys seem to have the youngest volunteer force I’ve seen, it’s the way all canal trusts need to work as I know many are really struggling. Get the kids hooked on the canal and it’s benefits and hopefully they will continue to help away from these schemes. Also look at the progress on some of these sections!

Indeed. We keep an eye on Google Earth to see when it's time to update it. Hopefully we'll get an updated view of Darnford Moors Ecology Park soon, then we can have a new version of the flyby.

Lovely video 'celebration', really heart warming to take it all in; such a great day for the Trust, everyone who helped make it happen and to all who will enjoy visiting/using this new area. You're editing skills excelled once again Paul - top, top job.! So glad you included some bits of banter/chat with the folk there too.. Thank you.!

I love the fact the canals are being improved & extended in 2024. They've been essential over the years for transportation of various goods & now serve a different purpose but equally important as places to live for people & wildlife & an escape from the madness of life in cities etc.
