I love your designs. Just stunning! What are the tiny small round tubes that you often use? Where can I get them? Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with Joy & Love ❤

Just beautiful! I received one of your 100 Days mosaics for Christmas (#74). I love it! I must ask you to send me another one to hang next to it! When you are back from your break, I’d like to order it. 😊 Thanks for all you do and for starting such a wonderful community!

Can you tell me please what is the base made of (I mean, what you put under the tile adhesive)?
@racheldaviesmosaics29 күн бұрын
I use a tile backer board with a foam core. There are various brands available - eg Jackoboard, Wediboard, Marmox

Could you please tell me the name of the green glass you are using. I haven’t been able to find it anywhere.
@racheldaviesmosaicsАй бұрын
I make these glass pieces myself by heating up different colours of smalti and pulling it into strands. Search for filati or glass stringers -you will probably only be ably to get them in solid colours though. Mosaic Arts Online have a course by Rachel Sager that teaches you how to make them if you want to learn - I think the course is called ‘intuitive malmischiato’
@artofdeborahАй бұрын
This is stunning!! May I ask what you're base is?..

What are the little round tube like glass called ?
@racheldaviesmosaics13 күн бұрын
Sorry, I missed your comment before - the tubes are hand made filati - stringers created from heating glass and pulling it into strands. I also use some glass rods as well.

I use tweezers when I put the glass bits in some areas. But where did you get the clever tool you are using? Very cool!
@racheldaviesmosaicsАй бұрын
I’m using tweezers too - they are just the ‘bent nose’ type. I got mine from an online mosaic supplier but they shouldn’t be too difficult to find.

Your pieces are just beautiful! Do you use colored thinset or self leveling concrete as your adhesive? Thank you.
@racheldaviesmosaicsАй бұрын
I use coloured tile adhesive to stick things down. The self levelling compound isn’t an adhesive - it’s more used for filling in backgrounds.
