No need to be embarrassed - I, personally, still cry at SEVERAL songs on this soundtrack, Surface Pressure included. Encanto is seriously my favourite Disney movie in recent times, and the soundtrack does a lot for that.

I showed my mom this movie specifically because of this song. I told her that I thought this song explained her exactly. When we got to it at first she seemed hesitant because it was just louisa saying she's tough and can take anything. By the end of the song, my mom was sobbing because of how exact it was to how she feels every day. She also cried durring the scene where mirabelle reconciles with her grandmother because she had the same toxic relationship with her mom but never got that happy ending. After that, any time mom heard someone we knew say they were gonna watch this movie for the first time she told them how good it was and that she was louisa

It's a wonderfully written song that's performed very well. When I first watched Encanto I didn't really pick up on the words and now that I do, my heart breaks for Luisa. 🥺

In my simple opinion, this was the only song in the movie that actually hit on the theme of the movie. I love it. I cry every time. Even after the years.

The hardest part of the song for me, emotionally...is the first few lines where she takes a deep breath/sighs between the lyrics. Like, yeah she's strong and brave and does all she can for her family but God, she's so ...tired.

I don't think I quite trust anyone who isn't at least a little bit moved by this video, whether because they see themselves or someone they care about in it, or out of simple empathy for Luisa--even though she's a fictional character, the picture painted by the music and the animation is crystal clear and so very human.

It gave me so much joy to see that you stayed until the very last possible second of the song to stop the video :D:D It reminded me of my music teacher who used to discipline us to focus and stay quite until the last note of every instrument has played out.

This song makes sense in 1970 and 2018, because we were at war in those years (American Woman is an anti-war song), but in 1998 we weren't at war with anyone. Why release a cover then?

Never apologize for crying to a Disney song (or any song, but Disney in particular has the means to really pummel the audience with emotions). Especially with videos like this, where it isn't just the lyrics and the spot-on performance but also the masterful animation. The way Mirabel looks at Louisa in absolute horror when she realizes just how much her sister is hurting is *designed* to tear your heart into pieces. No one involved in making this movie held back.

If you're an eldest son/daughter, this song is very relatable, we give so much and it seems to be never enough, that sometimes you want to break, but you know you can't because you don't want to let your younger siblings down.

I'm the only child, but I've always been the protector. My friends are physically weaker than me, even the men. I dont work out, just lucked out on base strength. Always been their biggest defenders. I sobbed. This song resonates with EVERYONE, and that's why it's so beautiful. Talked many friends out of ending their lives, protected them from being beat up at school, at one point protected them from a wild animal. I'm the queen of repressing my emotions. But this song broke me in the best way.

Don't feel bad for crying my dude. I do every time I hear this song. I'm the third of six kids so I feel the message behind this song. I've had to be strong for my younger three siblings so much growing up, especially during the toughest times. Me and my older two siblings often had to protect our younger three from so many struggles
