What if when you put the pattern side seams together, the angle isn't flat, but curves up slightly (not down like the ones you can trim off). What kind of shape will happen with that slight upward cut? I appreciate your videos! They help so much.

Also, if you enlarge, what do you do about the seam allowance? Increase that also or keep the same 3/8s in

Hi! I would to clarify, this is not an OKSew pattern, it is a pattern from Woodland Stitches. I spoke to the designer, Leanne, earlier today about EU customers not being able to download and she advised me that it is due to the GPSR regulations that regulate sales into the EU. She is quite upset by this. The free patterns are available in the Woodland Stitches Facebook group however. I have put a link with a short explanation as a reply to the pinned comment on this video but I unfortunately don’t have any further insight. Leanne may be able to offer further assistance.

Hi Nicole. This is another great video and will certainly go on my list of bags to make. I have a couple of basic questions, but don’t really apply to this particular bag. The first has to do with needles. You sew a variety of different kinds of fabrics and you use what I think is a semi industrial machine. Do you use needles that are for a semi industrial machine or do you use needles for domestic sewing? If if you are using a needle for domestic machine, what kind of needles do you use? What size? My second question has to do with stitch length. You change the stitch length, depending on the type of sewing you are doing. What length do you use for normal construction. What about basting and top stitching? Thanks for your help as well as your great videos

Hi Patrizia! I have asked Leanne at Woodland Stitches about this and she advised me that due to GPSR regulations she unfortunately cannot have an EU storefront, so people in the EU will have to go to the Facebook group for the pattern files. It is such a great easy pattern for scrap busting. I love using it for my leather scraps which are soft and pliable, combining with cotton fabric for the uppers. Your videos are amazing, you go into so much detail, perfect for learning all the tricks and techniques, thanks you so much.

Why I cannot download the pattern in Germany? It's a wonderful pouch.
@OKSew4742 күн бұрын
I’m sorry to hear it isn’t working! Are you on Facebook by chance? The designer has a Facebook group and has the files available in there, or you could reach out to Leanne to let her know there is a problem. Woodland Stitches is UK based, I don’t see why EU countries would have an issue but she is best positioned to be able to help.

@OKSew474 No, I am not on Facebook, but I will try to contact Leanne. Trank you to answer so fast.

Thank you so much for such a detailed tutorial! What stitch length do you use for top stitching and for regular seams on vinyl?
@OKSew4743 күн бұрын
You are welcome! On my machine I use 4.0 for topstitching and 2.4 for construction, but there is a lot of variation between machines so I recommend experimenting a bit with fabric of equal thickness to your project.

Hi Nicole I'm really happy that you revisited this superb pouch pattern again today. I have recently made this pouch with contrasting fabrics on the front only. I didn't put in an inside pocket but will do on the next one. I have two more cut out waiting in the wings to be made. I enjoy making this pouch and found that it comes together well. I was very pleased with the result, so much so, that I used the pouch when I went out for lunch on Saturday - well, we have to show off the bags we make 😅 I will trim up the corner angles on future Harlequin makes as well. I also made up the Harley bag recently too. Thanks again for a superb tutorial. I cast the tutorial onto my tv this time - you were on the big screen! Cheers for now x

Thank you. This is so smart. And versatile - fabrics that are sparkly, or satin, or have a gold or silver metallic look, would be good for evening or wedding purses, made in a cord and a firm printed. (woollen? ). fabric could look very countryfied. They'd make wonderful gifts for family and friends.

Hi Nicole I always feel I should backstitch where the joined seams are for the top and bottom, on any pouch. Do you think it makes a difference?
@OKSew4744 күн бұрын
Hi Cheryl! Are you referring to the side seams where they are matched up or when piecing? I tend to err on the side of backstitching, for pretty much everything. Now I’m wondering if there is a part I didn’t backstitch here that I should have!

I find that careful backstitching is always added strengthening and security. Best wishes.

Great video! I have a wavy zipper in the top opening of a crescent shaped bag that I made. Short of ripping it a part is there anything I can do to remedy this? Also, are there any tips on sewing a curved zipper? Should I have clipped the seams? Thanks!
@OKSew4744 күн бұрын
Hi Joan! Once it is all sewn up there isn’t a lot that can be done to fix the waves, but you could try some steam to see if it helps at all. Concave/crescent zippers are tricky, it’s easy to have them too long for the space. Clipping before you sew helps, I clip both the zipper and the fabric so it can fan out, then sew it almost as a straight line. I will have a skill builder on this, hopefully in the not too distant future!

In the tutorial with the curved piece you cut it without a SA, but you later show it with one. Kinda confusing.
@OKSew4746 күн бұрын
Hi! I’m sorry it was hard to follow. You can see me add in the seam allowance when I am drawing in the curve on the pattern template, if you watch from about minute 30:00 I cut the top section first and then account for the seam allowance for both pieces before cutting the pattern piece for the lower half. The 1/2” I add is 1/4” for each piece.
