Hey, you guys really need to do some of that classic "boning up" kinda thing. You have these so-called "Speed editors" but absolutely zero instructions and even less info about what they do, how they work and what the product is for. Also, you are giving away speed editors to new customers buying davinci resolve. but long term customers aren't getting a thing. We have to pay full retail for what you're giving solely to new customers. How is that fair? The answer is, it's not fair... at all. I went into davinci resolve completely blind. The only training I had with editing was when I used final cut pro 7, and final cut express and apple's debunked imovie. I had to learn everything I learned about resolve completely on my own, with no training, no info... nothing. Now, here you are with these speed editors but no instructions about where, how, when and why they're used and useful. And, here we are as long term customers, watching you give things solely to new customers, while not offering a thing to customers who have been with you for years. I've been with you for a few years. 7 years to be exact. I bought my license for resolve about 7 years ago. Yet, never once in all that time did I ever receive any kind of thank you, any kind of little gift offering, and absolutely zero incentives to continue using or buying your products. It isn't fair that we, some of your earlier customers, must sit by and watch new customers as they are given these amazing gifts. I'd LOVE a speed editor. But as an existing customer the only way I can get one, is to pay full retail value, while new customers gets it for absolutely nothing. Wrong is wrong... and right is right. And, I know that I'm right. How about throwing us a bone now and then. And while you're at it, how about making, creating and publishing an owner's instruction manual with your editing based products like the speed editor you're giving away for nothing...? I'm just saying.

Hi, I watch a lot of international Movies and TV shows with English subtitles. Some of my favourites are Korean :) Your English is much better than my Korean. It really depends. It's a personal subjective thing since this is just a hobby after all. A few things to consider before doing this: 1. Cost - can you get these cables in your country at a reasonable cost? (from CableMod website, Local computer shops, Amazon, Aliexpress ...) 2. Make sure to get genuine cables or really good high rated alternatives! Make sure to get the right cables for your PSU - Power Supply Unit and computer system. They are PSU specific, do not mix and match them. 3. Potential defects, system malfunction and failures - adding any new part or changing out your system might cause something wrong to happen. 4. If the cables are defective and do not work, then can you get a refund and / or replacement quickly? 5. Time - it takes time and effort to do. Are you using your computer for work and can your system be down for a few hours in order to do this? It was worth the effort for me since I could get the full cable package at the time I did this. However, the funny thing is, a year later my Corsair HX1000 PSU died. I have had a dead Corsair PSU in the past in a completely different system so I am not lucky with Corsair PSUs. I sent in the dead Corsair HX1000i PSU for a warranty replacement but needed my system back up and running quickly to get work done. So I bought a new EVGA SuperNova Titanium 850 T2 PSU instead. Well these cables no longer work since the cables are PSU specific - cannot work with the EVGA. Will only work with certain specific Corsair PSU series. I had to use the stiff ugly cables that came with my new EVGA PSU. Corsair did eventually send a warranty replacement for the dead PSU. A brand new HX1000i. So now I have it and the CableMods sitting here not being used. I don't have the time to pull my system down right now and might just sell the new HX1000i PSU and CableMod cables. Haven't decided yet.

One thing you never mentioned and nobody else has that I have watched is that the SEARCH DIAL is also a PUSH BUTTON as well if you press it which I didn't know. So what is that for???

Don't know if this will help - are you using Bluetooth? I use the USB C cable with mine. Have you updated all your drivers including the Bluetooth driver? Also update inside the Davinci Resolve editor. Open DR ,then open a project, can be a new blank; one then click on menu Help > Davinci Controls Panels Setup. Then click in the Speed Editor Icon or other smaller icons. DR should auto show you the latest driver for it and you can install it from there. The latest version I am showing is Version 1.4.4, Build b13612e5. (Some Bluetooth hardware on various systems / desktop / laptops etc can be spotty.)

It's a learning curve but only time reveals how powerful overall da Vinci software and equally intuitive and innovative is the hardware, hands down it's hard to beat this piece of hardware two years later also. I am a fan, yet to buy it but loving every bit of learning the shortcuts first on conventional keyboard without which one will seldom learn true potential of his/her creativity. All thumbs up to BMPCC's Da Vinci line up. I am glad I switched from premier pro. I am damn sure I am on a right track years down the lane too.

Hi Michael, I was a long time Premiere Pro user. The switch to Davinci Resolve took a while and the learning curve at first was very steep for me. Learning about nodes and really getting to grips with the dedicated color page took a lot of patience until one day it finally clicked and it was an incredible light bulb moment. Thankfully there are a lot of really good how to vids. and some incredibly talented content creators out there whom I was able to learn from along the way.

I use it physically plugged into my PC with the usb-c cable. I tested the Bluetooth a while ago by turning on the Bluetooth setting on my PC and then starting up Davinci Resolve. Once the Speed Editor detected that Davinci Resolve was running it automatically paired with DR and started working.

Wish I could get this unit, but it's discontinued. I think at the time of your video, the model was already a few years old. Actually I think it came out in 2014, so you are lucky to still get one. All of their other current models are way too expensive, although I'm sure they are nice.

I did not know this was discontinued. That's too bad, it's a really good unit. I see Trutone Electronics in Ontario Canada currently still advertising it. (Not sure if they still have any stock left.) Crutchfield US and Canada not carrying it anymore. I did a quick search and there is a current listing on Kijiji Toronto for one. Looks like it's in really good condition too - only missing the glass center shelf. Keep an eye out for second hand sales, might get lucky that way. On a side note: If I had to buy another TV stand in the future, I'd just build one myself with wheels similar to this unit. It might not look as nice - but it will just as functional.

Try checking the main CableMod site: store.cablemod.com/ Also sometimes online sites like Amazon sell cables that you can use. Just make sure to use the designated cable(s) specific to your PSU. Do not mix and match from other PSU manufacturers. The internal wiring can be different and cause issues with your PC.

Rob I know this is a year old video but you should never mixup different manufacturers cables on different psus as you suggested arround 4:10. Manufacturers have different pin-outs on the psu side so switching cables could result in a short circuit or worst case a fire.
@Rob.C
@Rob.C Жыл бұрын
You are absolutely correct. Never mix and match cables from different PSUs! I realized the mistake I made saying that and added a note in the description and stickied comment: "Note always use specific cables for your PSU. Do not mix and match! Corsair PSU cables will not work on EVGA or Seasonic PSUs and so on. Mixing and matching can damage your system."

Hi, I feel your pain. Many times I purchased something only to find it go on sale or discount soon after. (Kinda like buying a stock - as soon as you buy it it drops.) I usually ask if there is a discount or a sale coming up before I buy something online. Usually they are good and offer a discount when I ask. One time I asked before purchasing an expensive piece of sound kit. I got a reply saying since it was so new that they weren't offering any sales / discount. Well a couple weeks later after I bought it it went on sale for 25% off. Argh - yeah I was not too happy about that one.

I've had mine a few weeks now. It was a steeper learning curve than I assumed it would be, but now the 'muscle memory' is clicking in, it's great. Better than I thought, and probably better than I hoped. It's so much faster. Not only that, it gives time to try something a bit different. It's a great bit of kit, and the quality is outstanding. I'm going to buy a smaller keyboard so it can run them side-by-side. My full-width one means it is a little bit of a stretch. Great to have a video where the presenter doesn't start with 'What's up, man' and bounce about so much that you need to stabilise the video.
@Rob.C
@Rob.C Жыл бұрын
Agreed. It takes a bit of learning but it's amazing to use especially when quickly laying out clips in the Cut page. It becomes intuitive and so much faster to do rough edits in the Cut page and then fine tune them in the Edit page. I tried using a shorter TKL type keyboard that had the arrow keys before. I find I actually need the number pad when I am doing other work with a lot of numbers input. In the Edit page I use a combination keyboard, mouse and Speed Editor; depending on what needs to get done the quickest most intuitive, efficient way possible.
