First off, that's a great spot you shot. Just that one main big ass key light pretty much? Damn it looks cinematic. Also can I ask who makes that side handle? I want it about as bad as these lenses.

Metabones makes a PL speed booster to give you around a extra stop of light for cp3 and close to full frame on a super 35 .anyone use this option yet ?

I shot a 48 hour film challenge last weekend with my pocket 6k coupled with Zeiss cp3 lenses. Great combination! Here’s the results: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIuQd4FvrNSNh7M

Amazing review. I'm finally getting in the market for some cine glass and am leaning towards these CP.3 because of the amount of travel/solo work I do. At @8:05 what are you using to focus? I'm on the sony FX9/A1 System and use all sony GM glass at the moment so I'd need to invest in a focus system for these, anythign you recommend?

Amazing video, do you also have experience using the XD versions of the CP3? Is it worth having the additional information available in post for what you are doing?

my opinion, filming a talking head with an eye light bounce from underneath, its a better visual if you had a white background or natural lit back light from a window or a balcony :) i know this video is old, i just noticed this and i wanna put this out there lel. overall, thats a pretty cool rig

No follow focus system? I know it would add bulk to an already hefty rig, but I'd choose follow focus over a matte box if I had to do one. I can't trust Sony's autofocus as much when I'm in the field doing run n gun.

Did I miss your battery solution? Usually I see a V Mount option or at least a Power Junkie to use NP-F batteries or something. and then a bunch of adapters to power each of the components yet only have one battery to focus on (especially with the a7SII and those crappy NP-FW50 batteries. Any way, great production quality and I agreed with almost everything you chose, just felt you missed the whole single battery concept (which can also double as a counter weight)

Interesting. You said DSLR probably 10 times in this video, but you're building a mirror-less rig. But that's a good choice of camera, and that would have been the lens I chose as well if I was a Sony shooter. I'm going to build a Fuji X-T3/X-T4 rig soon, but if I ever change brands/bodies, I'll just need a new cage, all the other gear will transfer. Let's face it though, we want matte boxes because they look cool on the end of our cameras. You're using a screw-on ND filter, so it's not because you need a filter holder, and you could have just used the lens hood, to keep stray light out. But there's a lot to be said for looking "Professional" to clients. I learned this back in wedding photography. My first wedding ever I had some old woman telling her friend "Oh, it's just 35mm" about my camera, like I was some kind of amateur. I since went to medium format, and then multiple versions of digital of course, but I had the big custom flash bracket, and the big flash diffusion, and the big lens because it looked professional...all one piece at a time as well. Each wedding I shot, I'd get a new piece of gear. Then nobody said peep after that, lol.
