Any recommendations on a similar rig for gimbal like the dji ronin-m?
@Oxenfree6146 жыл бұрын
Hey There! Great question. My DJI Ronin-MX set up is pretty simple, I utilize the same Atomos Ninja Flame monitor with a monitor clamp on top of the handles(www.adorama.com/gygvpmma7h.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwguDeBRDCARIsAGxuU8bwx1MUNq3C1zK-lEjWfv0rx3JlAIQc0LdbmU7wPcQZu3GR9xAH-esaAv7PEALw_wcB). That same monitor mount can be used for a shotgun mic mount as well. But that is all I use on my Ronin because I would recommend keeping it as light as possible! If you want to take it a step further I would even suggest looking into the EasyRig MiniMax to take some of the weight/pressure off of your back and arms.

Did I miss your battery solution? Usually I see a V Mount option or at least a Power Junkie to use NP-F batteries or something. and then a bunch of adapters to power each of the components yet only have one battery to focus on (especially with the a7SII and those crappy NP-FW50 batteries. Any way, great production quality and I agreed with almost everything you chose, just felt you missed the whole single battery concept (which can also double as a counter weight)

Nice video. Surprised at your low subs. Hope your channel grows. Which preamp are you using? What is your opinion on building H4Npro into a rig with A6500 on to the cage with atomos Ninja V ?
@Oxenfree6146 жыл бұрын
Hey There! It totally depends on what sound you hope to capture. Wooden camera makes a great XLR adapter for these mirrorless cameras... but the preamps aren't spectacular in the cameras. However, with that being said, my a7sii witha rode NTG-2 either as a shotgun mic on camera or as a boom pole mic is all I ever use and it works for me perfectly. Adding an H4n would be maybe nicer quality, but adds a lot more weight and bulkiness to the rig. If you can make it work though then go ahead and test it out! I'd love to see what you come up with.
@Oxenfree6146 жыл бұрын
Also... cannot wait to get my hands on a Ninja V!! The Atomos Ninja Flame can be a bit too big... the Ninja V should fit just right.
@kochumvk6 жыл бұрын
@@Oxenfree614Thank you for replying. Thinking of using h4n in because, that way I need not invest in a new preamp unit. Ninja V is exceptional value just as a monitor!

@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy4 жыл бұрын
Interesting. You said DSLR probably 10 times in this video, but you're building a mirror-less rig. But that's a good choice of camera, and that would have been the lens I chose as well if I was a Sony shooter. I'm going to build a Fuji X-T3/X-T4 rig soon, but if I ever change brands/bodies, I'll just need a new cage, all the other gear will transfer. Let's face it though, we want matte boxes because they look cool on the end of our cameras. You're using a screw-on ND filter, so it's not because you need a filter holder, and you could have just used the lens hood, to keep stray light out. But there's a lot to be said for looking "Professional" to clients. I learned this back in wedding photography. My first wedding ever I had some old woman telling her friend "Oh, it's just 35mm" about my camera, like I was some kind of amateur. I since went to medium format, and then multiple versions of digital of course, but I had the big custom flash bracket, and the big flash diffusion, and the big lens because it looked professional...all one piece at a time as well. Each wedding I shot, I'd get a new piece of gear. Then nobody said peep after that, lol.

Is not the camera audio input a stereo 3.5mm unbalanced input, hence if you wire it right you already have two channels of audio on the camera.
@Oxenfree6146 жыл бұрын
Gregg Palmer Well I will say that you can also use an audio box (I specifically have the A-Box from Wooden Camera) with two XLR inputs that convert into a 3.5mm jack... but in my experience with the A-Box the two XLR inputs end up getting combined into a singular mono channel on the A7sII. Maybe some cameras can interpret this differently but unfortunately the combination I used only gave me two channels feeding into one mono channel, not stereo. So that is why the monitor helps me out. But if you have a solution to that I would love to know, always looking to learn more!
@Gregg0Palmer6 жыл бұрын
I've never used the Wooden A-Box, but going into a stereo unbalanced DSLR input there is no reason to Y the XLR connectors together into a mono feed. I would look at the wiring of the A-Box and maybe correct if necessary or use one of the many active or passive boxes that Beachtek makes. Alternative route is to make your own Y cable that drops the ring on one line of the Y and the tip on the other. This is what I did to feed a wireless hop from a Sennheiser G3 receiver on one channel and timecode on the other channel. Works great to feed two channels of audio into a DSLR using a simple Y cable. I've used it a couple times on a Sony A7Sii in the past plus a bunch of other DLSRs. It is worthwhile to note that converting balanced professional microphone output into unbalanced input on a DSLR by simple wiring will cause -6db loss of signal. To convert without a signal loss will require transformers (such a Radial Direct box or Beachtek boxes) that adds considerable weight and size to the box. Given the small size of the Wooden A-Boxes, I'm very doubtful they are using transformers, thus if even wired correctly you will likely suffer some signal loss and be losing the common mode interference rejection offered by balance connections, thus only good for very short cable runs.
