If you get hold of a sheet of the finest grade wet and dry paper, add a few drops of water and then gently move you zebra g nib over it. This will gently sand away some of the rougher areas of the nib allowing it to move over a paper surface easier with less scratching. But do be gentle, don’t over sand it!

Now, that's a doodle I aspire to. Mine involve a lot more Land Rovers (series 1), vintage tractor and the odd train. None have the grace and fluidity of yours. Chapeau! I do hove a couple of Pierre's Desiderata pens though, I have mine fitted with more conventional stiff writing nibs but that means I can leave them inked and use them at my desk daily. I love the idea, as you mention, of having a product designed and made by one man. I think in that respect they are good value particularly because they are absolutely lovely to hold and use, very tactile, and superbly sized and balanced, much more so than some highly regarded pens. I'm tempted to get a zebra nib and the feed back out for it to have a go at expanding my drawing repertoire now.
@StefanMarjoram2 күн бұрын
Delighted you like the sketch. I do like to draw a Land Rover or tractor too - though usually with a bit less motion :) Good luck with the Zegra G - I think there may be a stainless version which will give fewer issues with oxidising. I'm not an expert in nibs though - very much a dabbler.

@StefanMarjoram10 күн бұрын
As you've probably noticed with your other drawing materials - there are a few that you use all the time - even though you might have other good alternatives. I pretty much only use the large round Pentel brush. It does all I need. The thinner ones are nice with ink in - but too fine for general painting. I thought it might be fun to try a flat brush - but it wasn't as exciting as I imagined. I'd probably steer away from the cheapest ones as the points aren't great. Hope that helps.

@StefanMarjoram17 күн бұрын
I hope you like it! It won't feel massively different to the Ackerman if you're using the same nibs. They both feel a bit risky to have knocking around in my bag. A stainless nib might give a bit less flex but will reduce the need for removing the nibs to clean and dry them after use. Good luck!

I’m new to drawing cars! Is it a good idea to use a ruler to help with the lines when starting out ? Love your drawings!
@StefanMarjoramАй бұрын
@@fernandom6811 Great to hear you’re giving it a go. I wouldn’t recommend a ruler unless you’re doing something very technical and clean looking. You might end up relying on it too much and find it hard to not use it. Also, although cars often seem to have lots of straight lines - they are often the tiniest bit curved - and very rarely perfectly straight. The trick to drawing long straight lines is to rotate the paper to an angle where you can swing your forearm from the elbow. Give it a go on some rough paper. I’m sure you’ll soon get the hang of it. (I try to avoid it on the videos because I sometimes end up with the paper out of view - but off camera I’m always turning the paper :)

The Porsche 911 is one of my favorite cars (specifically the GT3 RS), but I’m not quite there yet with my skills to draw something that advanced. However, this recent work was such a great step for me. It’s not exactly like yours, but I’m really proud of it, and I can’t wait for more of your videos. Wow, thanks! That might be the nicest comment I've ever had. I always love to hear about people getting into drawing and am delighted to have played a small part. Really hope you stick to it and see some good improvements. But don't get disheartened when you don't - there are times when you make big jumps and other periods where you just have to work at it without seeing much happen. Also, here's another secret, you never get to complete it. No matter how good you get, you'll always realise there's a bit more you can learn - and improve. But that's what keeps it interesting :) Good luck! (Also, if you join me (even as a free member) on Patron, you can post sketches and use the discussion board.
