So pretty! I think a swoosh in that space would look nice. For the lid, if ur choosing between black and white…..your dark color isn’t going to show up on the black very well. Another suggestion is to paint the lid in your darkest color, paint your design in the 3 remaining colors then bring your darkest color back in with top dots. Can’t wait to see the next one!

You read my mind about the lids. I did exactly that for the other set, so will do that that again here. Thank you!

Love the series! I have the glass medium, but I don't often use it. If I understand mixing directions, it says 90% medium to the paint. I see you only added drops. Apparently, you find that's enough. Are you also using multi-surface paints? I look forward to #3 in series :-)
@SilvenmystDesigns16 күн бұрын
“No more than 10%” is the direction, right. Although, because I have so little paint in my pallet a good dollop works, especially because I also oven cure. I have used and washed glass be without issue.

Oh im sad im missed the live stream, i like your color combinations do you add something to make the paint a bit thicker so it doesnt run to one side of dot on the curves of the jar?🖊🎨
@SilvenmystDesigns18 күн бұрын
I only add the glass medium, but it doesn’t change the thickness. If it helps I use DecoArt Americana paints mostly. If you don’t use something thick enough then you can add a gel medium. Or, simply move very slowly.

Hi so happy I just came across your video..I just bought this recently and getting it in Australia cost a lot. I’m looking forward to your video. I have been so disappointed with this it seems get stuck a move … so I’m hoping you have some tips and tricks that help
@SilvenmystDesigns23 күн бұрын
It was awkward, the center rows did stick for me as well. The way this is “fixed” is to use tape. Like washi tape or masking/painter's tape on the blue edges to hold it still. This allows the center to spin freely. It doesn't seem like it should make a difference vs. Holding it, but it does! We must put pressure on it w/o realizing it. Also make sure you have a pen/pencil with a thin tip. I actually prefer to use mechanical pencils with this. Hope this helps!!

Should larger dotting tools be flat or slightly beveled on the ends?
@SilvenmystDesigns2 ай бұрын
There definitely is not a “should” in my opinion. Keep in mind that round headed tools are going to be much larger in diameter (and possibly heavier) than flat to obtain that same size dot, based on its method of measurement. For that reason I like the flat headed tools, like these.

I am wondering if you can tell me the name of the eraser you are using? I was going to take a picture, but it is faded?
@SilvenmystDesigns3 ай бұрын
Ah it is s bit faded. It is a 4B art eraser. It came in a set of other art supplies so wasn't purchased separately. The name on the eraser is only partly in English as “deli” but that may not be an accurate business or product name. Any soft 4B should work, though.
@tinamcelyea59723 ай бұрын
@SilvenmystDesigns thank you, I was able to find a variety pack with a grey soft one, but I wasn't sure if it would work or if I'd be wasting my money. After looking online at Amazon, Michael's, etc.. I ended up with a variety pack.

I notice a blob of paint in the center. Does this flatten out after drying?
@SilvenmystDesigns5 ай бұрын
So long as your paint is the right consistency, yes it will dry flat. If it is too thick it may even have a small point, or nipple to it after drying. If you get ridges then there is not enough paint on your tool, and/or you have touched the surface and squashed the paint and it may dry with the ridges, again given its consistency. The paint I used here isn’t top quality (can you tell? Trying to use leftovers), but still dries alright without a dome.

Please clarify.... the grid lines are on the outside of the bottle? I ask because it appears that it was drawn on the paper that you have inserted.
@SilvenmystDesigns6 ай бұрын
Right, the grid was drawn on the paper that was inserted. Drawing them on the glass itself can accidentally become permanent if you dot over them, and be visible from the other side.

@SilvenmystDesigns6 ай бұрын
@helenelegace1323 Exactly. You could try to draw with a grease pencil, expo marker, etc and dot *between* the guidelines and this works to a point too. I have done that, but yeah if you put any paint ontop of the mark.. Haha permanant. 🤣

I love these colors, but since they seemed dark to u, I think instead of using an accent color for top dots, I would suggest adding a little white to each color and top dot each with the lighter version and then add a little more white to each color and put a very small second top dot where u can. That process makes the dots almost has a glow to them. These turned out great and I loved the colors as soon as u showed them😁

Love the blue! When I do my ornaments, I draw my grids on white paper an cover with a sheet protector. That way, if I get paint on it, I can wipe it right off. I think it would show up on the screen better, love your videos!!!
@SilvenmystDesigns7 ай бұрын
Not sure if it was this video I'd mentioned that I do that exact thing when not recording. I have 2 grids drawn side by side on a standard sheet. However, the sheet protector gives off a glare and the pencil grid on white paper is almost invisible while recording. Thus why I have the black paper w.o the protector. Thanks for commenting this is a great idea and works great especially when taping the ornaments.

I’m a newbie to this art form. But I do my research and watch a lot of videos. Nice video. I would have done more close ups of dots so we could see the results better. Heres some food for thought. First, dotting with acrylic paint isn’t meant to be done on paper. Second, the type of paint you use gives you various results. Third, the surface you’re dotting on determines how you dot. I believe all of this needs to be taken into consideration because they all affect the results of your dotting. Also, wouldn’t the flat tool E4 & E3 tool be used to wipe off mistakes?
@SilvenmystDesigns7 ай бұрын
He @deliatvp43. Welcome! You are correct, paper is not the ideal surface but beginner artists don't often wish to “waste” canvas for example, and it works for my point. 🎨However, yes I cover these details about practice surfaces, paint, and techniques in other videos on my channel, like my beginner series, etc. Thanks for touching on them. They are important!! The E4 and E3 are made to place the elongated dot. They are the same material as the others. The shape might be deceiving though, they look a lot like the soft silicone tools often used to correct mistakes. Thanks for stopping by! Appreciated.
