I’m on board with your main point, but side point, Jada Smith didn’t shave her head, she has alopecia, he was mocking her medical condition. Smith’s response was possibly to do with his Scientology background - you settle any grievances between yourself, outside of official channels. Totally not excusing his behaviour.

I agree, mass produced American beers are undrinkable. Most craft American beers are spectacular! Along with Stella and Estrella Galicia, I also love many Asian lagers like Asahi but Taiwan Beer (that is the brand name) is my favorite, I might be biased. Because I don't like the flavor hops, I mostly drink wheat beers like Hoegaarden, Blue Moon and most Hefe Weizens. Allagash White is my favorite and it's an American wheat beer.

I LOVE Asian beers! They're so good with spicy food. I love Singha, Lucky Buddha, and Tsingtao. Again, perfect examples of how you can make a DIRT CHEAP lager beer that is delicious and drinkable.

Plus how religion is often inturpeded to the veiws of a person somtimes to gain power or to make others belive like they do. We all have seen this played out since the begining of time.

"It has nothing to do with the Islamic faith - it's actually about power"? To say this has nothing to do with the Islamic faith is an instant credibility crusher. When the Charlie Hebdo massacre happened were they screaming "Our Hold On Power Is the Greatest!"? No, they were screaming "Allah Is The Greatest" & "The Prophet Has Been Avenged!" Or how about when Theo Van Gogh was butchered after making a film criticizing the way Women were treated within Islam? Was he killed by someone obsessed with making sure the Ayatollah had a firm grasp on political power? Or the guy that just killed all the people in New Orleans declaring "Death To The Non Believers"... The non believers of what? The non believers of vague middle eastern politics? Come on Roland, you talk about how "us, progressive, smart, wise and self righteous" are justifying acts of violence ( which has been going on far longer than most care to admit ) over words. Don't you see that obfuscating motive is another way that "us, progressive, smart, wise and self righteous" people justify acts of violence Roland.

Time and time again, islam shows its bloody face of "peace" to the world. Such a lovely religion. You are desperately trying to whitewash the religion, but that won't do. Not if you have read the quran, and have seen the many evil actions of its followers.

Your premise is flawed. The book was an indictment AGAINST Islam and its book, which has within its text Satanic verses. Salman wrote a fictional narrative that follows almost exactly how the Koran was established. The author(s) of the Koran, Abu Bakr and Zayd ibn Thabit compiled multiple texts shortly after the death of Mohammed, but the "final" version was not completed until much, much later and only after hundreds of different versions were burned. So this story is about a book that was essentially made up.

Man gets stabbed for hurting the feelings of religious fundamentalists following the orders of a legitimate religious leader... Na, nothing to do with the religion's violent teachings...I think it is time we all start being honest about Islam. The attack on Rushdie is 100% in accordance with the religious texts of Islam which call for critics of the religion to be put to death. While Islam is CLEARLY more extreme than any other religion, all Abrahamic religions justify slavery etc. The majority of good-hearted, moral individuals who follow Abrahamic faiths (I am not familiar enough with the texts of others to comment) are good-hearted and moral in spite of the blatantly evil parts of their religion, which they rightly choose to ignore. A religion and its religious followers are separate from one another; making any comment about Muslims, Christians, or Jews would be ridiculous and bigoted. Abrahamic religions, however, are a collection of long-outdated ideologies that, while containing valuable wisdom, also contain clearly immoral aspects which reflect the relative savagery of the time. And while most people have never bothered to look into it, or stay silent for fear of being judged by the clueless masses as 'Islamophobic', which is dishonestly equated to racism in a way a similar comment of Christianity never would, the people familiar with these religions know Islam, as an ideology regarding the texts, is more obviously more violent, oppressive and generally immoral. Simply, acknowledging the fact that in the Sunni tradition, which accounts for around 90% of Muslims, the widely accepted belief regarding Muhammad and his relationship with Aisha makes him a child rapist, immediately draws ridiculous accusations akin to racism by both Muslims, who know this is simply a factual statement, and more frustratingly by ultra-sensitive, white, non-religious people who are always bafflingly quick to decide such information not aligned with their naïve worldview is untrue, and throw out a typical cookie-cutter child-like argument, based on their fictional perception of the world which is heavily influenced by their values... All people are equal and deserve respect (great)... becomes all cultures are equal and deserve respect... all cultures deserve some basic forms of respect (respecting their boarders, respecting their rule and their autonomy within their boarders) but cultures are not all equal, this is obvious. This turns into all beliefs/ ideologies are equal and deserve respect... this is the stance of morons and cowards who are afraid to disagree with any view shared by the majority. Such a reaction from clueless non-Muslims is almost always conjured by simply discussing, in relevant conversations regarding religion, many parts of Islamic texts, from allowing Muslims to own sex slaves gained in war, to the Hadith which is an eschatological prophecy about hunting down and killing Jews.

Sorry but it is a part of the faith. When I married my husband, a Muslim, a relative said something ridiculous about my faith. I was ignorant at the time about the faith. After the comment, I got into a 5 year search for information to understand what is happening. It is part of the faith to convert either through, force or because of fear giving in. Quran 3:118 among others. I do not think all Muslims are extreme. But I do believe they will become violent verbally and physically if challenged with their own book. And yes, the Bible, cover to cover is true.

No one is fanatically shouting that the sun is going to rise tomorrow. They know it's going to rise tomorrow. When people are fanatically dedicated to political or religious faiths or any other kinds of dogmas or goals, it's always because these dogmas or goals are in doubt.”

The attack on Rushdie had EVERYTHING to do with Islam. To claim that Muhammad would alter the words of Allah would be seen as a blasphemy of the highest order. No less than EIGHT times the Prophet Muhammad ordered the murder of individuals whose only offense was insulting the Prophet and rejecting his claim of prophethood. They were murdered for speaking words that insulted the Prophet. The death sentence against Rushdie was purely Islamic. People in the West need to learn more about Islam to know why Muslims are at war with us.

I think you are completely wrong on so many points it’s hard to know where to start. First of all the King James Bible was not compiled the way you claim, the council of Nicea was called to combat Arianism, and the fact that Rushdie was attacked has everything to do with Islam. As you carried on talking it was obvious you are incredibly I’ll-informed and need to be educated. If you read the Koran you’ll find verse after verses about killing unbelievers, killing apostates, and killing anyone who even questions the Koran. You may indeed know some very nice Muslims, but they are not obeying the Koran, they are in fact a lot better than the Koran. If those nice Muslims obeyed the Koran they would be Hamas.

6:17 The council of Nicea discussed the heresy of Arianism bc Arius was teaching that Jesus was a created being. The council did not discuss the biblical cannon whatsoever. That’s often an argument and talking point from historical illiteracy.

it is not the fictions in the story which are so dangerous, but the fragments of history used in the stories behind it. 3rd Kalif in 656 AD Uthman requested to burn all copies of Quran existing in that era, to replace them with the "one" version, where certain "verses" were removed or rephrased. It is because the fragments of the teaching engraved on stones/woods, later collected as chaotic dispersed chapters in Quran, used to contain verses, that debateable as being satanic origin. Reading Rushdi's book will lead the people digging into those dark spots in history. Somehow, analogous to Assange with his Wikileaks, when US govt threatened to jail him for life.

As an ex-Muslim who read Quran in 5 languages, these are some of the facts about Mohmammad: Mohammad at 51 married a 6-year-old girl. Mohammad assassinated poets and his critics. Mohammad raped a Jewish woman the same night his men killed the woman's husband, father and brothers. Mohammad massacred 600-900 Jewish prisoners of war in one day. Mohammad was a highway robber who habitually raided and looted caravans and others belongings. Mohammad stoned human beings to death, enslaved people and sold humans into slavery. Yet close to 2 Billion people call Mohammad a role model and the best of mankind. Go figure.

Mohammad himself assassinated poets and his critics. So, it's logical to expect violence and terror to dissent from Mohammad.

It looks as if Islam will be the end of civilisation in Europe. It is a very violent religion - dating back to the Dark Ages. The Satanic Verses was a fabulous book - and very humorous. Salman Rushdie had to live with protection for 10 years and then 34 years after publication some violent muslim attacked him viciously - but he has survived - long may he continue to write.
