Thank you for producing this video and sharing your thoughts. I was born in Los Angeles, and have lived here all of my life. I love this nation. I love the land. I love the ideals that this country stands for. I love our traditions. I am 43 years old. I have seen this country change so much in the past 20 years. And not in a good way. It seems that our nation is more divided now, than it has ever been since I have been on this Earth. It saddens me when I hear so many of my fellow Americans speak so poorly of this country. I think the people who speak negatively of our country and our traditions, are people who are either ignorant of our history, or are people who have lived very privileged lives, and do not appreciate everything that has been handed to them. This is a very dangerous mindset that has led to the creation of very bad laws and policies. Whether we like it or not, this is our home. This is where we live, and where our children will live. Our nation will not survive unless people take a step back, and take an honest look at what is happening in our society. (e.g. lawlessness, homelessness, drug addiction, economic struggles, inflation, illegal immigration, etc.) Instead of focusing so much on our differences, on skin color or gender, etc. We need to focus on those things that we have in common, and which are important for the survival of our society. The only thing I don't agree with is your statement that America is a Jewish nation. Jews are a minority in America. Throughout our history, most people have been either Christian, or influenced by the Christian religion. The fact that two of our most popular holidays are Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, should be proof of this.

Being a retired US Army officer, I am appalled at the ignorance of the general population. So many also do not understand the constitution. one of my favorite Thomas Jefferson quotes goes something like this, "I envision the United States to be an educated Sparta." I believe in this, all citizens involved with the government and having basic education for decision making.

Another example of Jewish influence on American culture: Captain America was co-created by Jacob Kurtzburg (Jack Kirby). In the first issue of Cap's comic book in 1941, Cap is punching out Hitler *before* the U.S. was at war with Germany. Kirby fought during World War II. Kirby also created many Marvel characters.

A very thoughtful piece Roland. I too was born in another country but I grew up in NYC my entire life. Growing up almost half of my friends were Jewish, half. If you’d ask me what my last meal would be on death row, I’d choose lox and bagels. That food is divine! I am not as queued in as you are on the current cultural situation concerning this but I found your observation poignant and astute. It solidifies my perspective that all extremes will be the downfall of humanity. Hardline, extremism, fanaticism, zealotry, militancy, radicalization, etc. all will lead to our demise. We ARE lucky to live in a pluralistic, diverse country with a stable constitution. With all that’s happened to this country, we’re still here. Let’s help bring each other away from fringes and back to the middle path.

I live in the greater Detroit area. Wayne County, Michigan (where Detroit is located) has a sizable population of Arabic Americans. The next county north is Oakland County (where I live). And there's a good-sized Jewish population there. As a result, greater Detroit feels the divide that you describe.
