Yes, alcoholic beverages absolutely should be placed in ugly, unbranded standardised plain packaging with graphic pictorial warnings! They should also be placed behind the counter in opaque cabinets where customers need to ask for it. All forms of alcohol advertisements and retail displays should be banned, and the number of outlets selling alcohol should be reduced substantially. If they do that for cigarettes, then it's utter hypocrisy if they don't do the same with alcohol. Alcohol is far too easily accessible, normalised, and attractive. For me, I love cigarettes. At least they don't lead to intoxication/erratic, anti-social behaviour.

CAN I MAKE ADJUSTMENTS? I messed up my calculations and added too much priming sugar. Probably not too much but it is over-primed. Can I burp the bottles? How much is too much? AND carbonate at 72F for week one and then go 65F for week two? Would these adjustments balance me out? They are bottled in 64 oz. growlers.

One of my ancestors owned a pre prohibition brewery on Lake George in St. Cloud MN. It burned to the ground. The story goes that a black cat turned into a ball of fire igniting the grain dust. There may be some truth in it. Out and about in my youth I met a few people now and then who witnessed ball lightning near the lake, which is possibly what started the fire. (I've witnessed ball static at a friend's farm on several occasions. It would move from person to person and make your hair stand like a Tesla experiment. We named it George, but not after the lake.) The unfortunate cat may've simply gotten in the line of fire. Or maybe it's just an old ale wive's tale. 🧹🍺🍻🐈‍⬛⚡🔥

I remember seeing a question on social media once, asking about what crime is so common in your country that it's been normalised in your society. In the UK, the obvious answer is stealing glasses from pubs. More than 50% of the UK's population admit to having glasses in their homes that were stolen from pubs. If we were to prosecute them all for theft and/or handling stolen goods, the magistrates' courts would have to sit for extended hours. However, it is technically theft, and if caught, you could be barred from the pub at minimum, or maybe even arrested by the police.

I like IPAs but didn’t know what it stood for. I thought the India pale ales at the store were something different. Anyways, this Guavaland Imperial (8%) Sour Double IPA from Mighty Squirrel Brewing in Waltham MA is very good. Good mix of my favorites, sours and IPAs.

So I made the mistake of going to a pub to meet up with my friends for the end of a hockey game and having a pint. I was snowplowing that time of year and woke up at 7pm, met my friends for 8:30pm, had a pint and left at 9pm. As I was leaving the parking lot, instant sirens and lights. I live in Ontario Canada where they have a “festive Ride program” (the police set up checkpoints to check for impaired driver or they patrol for them”. I ended up blowing 0.081. No joke. Legal limit is 0.080. I was about to pull into McDonald’s and get some breakfast and go to work in an hour for my shift. I was 25, 5’10” and about 140. No excuse I know better now. Draught beer hits hard and, the most you really can have is 1 drink and wait for a bit before driving. I get people are different but I’ve tested it out now because I’m afraid of even waking up the next day and blowing over. My lawyer brought up a good point tho….. If we as a society truly cared that much they would make it mandatory for breathalyzers or even for beginner drivers. But at the end of the day everyone wants to have a drink with dinner. Or pre breakfast in my case.

Next time you're in London, find yourself a Fuller's pub and check out their 'ESB' - carefully. It's very easy to get shitfaced - guilty, many times - one of those wonderful ales that seems to have a greater effect than it's 5.6% ABV would suggest. Cheers!
