Be careful when you get back out there because of debris & changes. Might keep antibacterial gel handy in boat/kayak because of bacteria issues. It may really be bad in Boone unfortunately. Stay safe. 👍🙏🎣

Here’s the problem. My net was designed for catching baitfish which is perfectly legal. I accidentally caught a bunch of longnose gar instead. They have incredibly sharp teeth and destroyed my net. That’s why I was sad. 😂. I end up releasing them because it was the right thing to do.

Yeah i don't know what how the fishing here in Northeast Tennessee will be after all is said and done. My father and I delivery some water and hay to some people we know in Erwin and the nolichucky river has changed a lot. There were places that were all white water that are now calm. I don't know about the Watuaga yet. But there are more important issues at hand for this area right now.
@MichaelKaal-TriFisher12 сағат бұрын
Agreed, thank you for helping people. We will all figure it out once everything calms down. I’ve seen reports that the South Holston River is fine and so are most of the reservoirs. The Nolichucky river and Watauga river are the only ones I don’t know about at the moment. Plus all the streams I’m sure are destroyed.

since when did gar get so prevalent? you must be in one of their nursery areas. it's almost like the net attracted them... I don't understand how you caught that many. they must have been stacked on top of eachother. this is so weird.
@MichaelKaal-TriFisher11 сағат бұрын
Yes, it was weird. I caught them in late winter in 40 feet of water. I believe it was probably a spawning area.

As you are leaving, Me and my buddy would just be arriving to hang lanterns from the bridge about 2feet from the water and wait for the bait fish to come around the light, Big crappie are always following the back fish , we fish about 2-5feet around the light and hit our limit each night. We catch 100’s of crappie each year at Lake Purdy. Plenty of snakes in the spring and early summer, so be careful! Good luck.

@MichaelKaal-TriFisher oh noo! Oh ok so you try to catch lots of the little fishies you use later for big fish catching? Omg fish with teeth like that sound scary lol. I saw a picture of a deep sea fish with long jagged teeth that looked like knives. Horrifying! I appreciate the education. I know nothing about fishing
