None, not one, of these artist were "one hit wonders". Each was a pretty sizeable star in their own right, a couple were megastars. What was this guy trying to spotlight afterall?

Based on having only one number one hit on the Billboard country chart they are considered one hit wonders. Some are very famous but in most cases they did not have multiple number one hits. Mostly disappeared from the chart after that.

That is absolutely wonderful Laurie. I really hope they not only enjoy it but it brings back some great memories! If they really get into it, show them the other episodes from all the years of music history starting in 1940! I would love to do a video chat with all of them one day if you feel it's appropriate! Have fun!

When Roger Miller was touring in a package show, he would do the nerdy sounds when traveling in a car and Skeeter Davis suggested he incorporate the sounds into his songs. Ray Stevens has a item of broadcasting from a nursing home on the radio and calling up chicken places and telling them they have 400 chickens for delivery and most of them are still alive. It is one for 29 skits Ray released about living at the home for retired entertainers.

What about the WLS National Barndance? It preceded the Grand Old Opry. In fact the Grand Old Opry was started by George Hay who had started the WLS Barndance. I know the Barndance is not on anymore but it was on earlier than the Grand Old Opry.
