I was right years old in 1944..dad was up north and I was with mom running the farm in South Africa. Remember pistol packing momma well.. my main job was to start the generate to charge the radio battery and check the battery water. Also start and run the car and truck engines.the truck was a Chevrolet .cars were Buick and cadillac..rode a horse on the farm. ..today I drive a jeep with a 5.7 l engine.

It is amazing how when we hear those songs it brings up specific memories from long ago. That is why they were so good back then!

The country songs of the 1940s were sure different from the ones nowadays.
