On one hand, it's tragic that the Emperor turned against his loyal soldiers who helped unify Terra and it's without a doubt a cruel act of treason to those who were loyal and fought and died for a truly good reason, i.e. defeat of techno barbarians and saving Terra On the other hand, they were a ticking time bomb. It was noted that they were less disciplined than Astartes and were doomed from the start since they were a very rushed job compared to Astartes and Custodes, suffering from biological shutdowns and mental instability and fated to die early deaths and there was a good risk that they would rebel eventually since no one is that happy to learn that your leader essentially gave you super cancer and brain meltdown since he didn't take his time perfecting his formula and augmenting adult men. Also also, the thunder warriors were noted to be more savage and brutal, ruthless killers who enjoyed the killing and power than most Astartes legion, thought to exemplify the worst that humanity could offer Food for thought the Thunder warriors are

Like every other man, Perturabo only wanted to create, improve and be loved. the way he was treated, who wouldn't commit treason against the cause he actually wanted to defend.

In his youth, harbored a dream of building a utopia of his own-a city that embodied progress and improved quality of life for its inhabitants. As a child, he poured his creativity into crafting things like clockwork toys, theaters, and hospitals to enhance the lives of those around him. However, one of the first significant disappointments in his life came when his guardian, Dammekos, dismissed one of his intricate clockwork creations as "pointless." Enraged and disheartened, Perturabo destroyed the piece himself, leaving him deeply scarred by the experience. As he grew older, Perturabo's ideals were overshadowed by the demands of endless warfare, and he gained infamy as a tyrant and a master of siegecraft. Yet, deep within, his childhood dream of creating something better for humanity persisted. After Perturabo's betrayal and descent into darkness, Fulgrim, now a Daemon Prince, sought to mock Perturabo by exposing his inner thoughts, expecting them to reveal cruelty and bitterness. Instead, Fulgrim witnessed an astonishing vision: a gleaming city on the planet Olympia, called Locos. This city was breathtakingly beautiful, filled with clean white architecture, thriving citizens, and joyful children playing in the streets. The Perturabo in this vision was not clad in war armor but wore the attire of a scholar, exuding kindness and intelligence, beloved by his people. Fulgrim was left speechless by the sheer magnificence of Perturabo's dream, far exceeding even Macragge, the capital of Roboute Guilliman's Ultramar. Stunned, Fulgrim exclaimed, "I never knew you could imagine a world like this." This vision revealed that, despite his actions and reputation, Perturabo's heart still held the noble dream of building and creating, rather than destroying.

Just because i think it would be funny a song describing Guilliman punching Word bearers to death in space without a helmet in Know no Fear would be fun Or The scene when Guilliman awaken and just start killing Chaos Space Marines left and right in Rise of the Primarch I honestly just like seeing Guilliman getting mad and killing everything around

There are a few characters. But the thing to understand about the Traitor astartes is that few ever turn away. Most hold onto vague ideas of wrongs done to them, or are influenced by demons to not change their minds. Some like not having a duty, and doing whatever they want. That said, some do turn back. But its few and rare. The Anchorite for example, who with a single word, Cast legions of demons into the warp with his faith. Even after he saw Monarchia fall.

Another great piece. I like to think that during the events of Istavan III, the loyal World Eaters gained some approval and grudging respect from Angron for their resistance to him and the rest of the traitors. From what I gather from reading the Horus Heresy books, the main reason Angron hated his own legion was because of how subservient and servile his Astartes were to him simply because he was their Primarch. That they had none of the rebellion that the gladiators of Nuceria had. That they behaved more like slaves, blindly obedient to his will, than true warriors. And that was why Angron hated them so much. And that's why I think when the loyal World Eaters did something that no one in his legion had ever done before, stood up to him, told him "No" and raised their hands against him just as he had raised his hands against the High Riders of Nuceria all those years ago, Angron felt for the first time in his life a bit of grudging respect for his loyalist sons. Though on the other hand, it may have also increased his hatred for those World Eaters who still blindly followed him, showing that they were still servile slaves who could not think for themselves.

If you're trying to imply they are normal humans, they're not. They are augmented, just crude and quick compared to space marines, though still superior to them physically. Though, it did make them more mentally unstable and would kill them eventually.
