You know it was bad when the river banks aren't in the same places. Things don't get back to normal until you get out there and make them normal again. Glad to see you out there getting it done.

I can tell it’s really hitting you hard man. Always enjoyed your fishing videos. I fish in Lansing , Creston and vallie crucis area at least 60 times a year. We will be up there this Friday giving out supplies. I’ll be done fishing for the year I’m just going to use my fishing days as days to help clean up if you need any help or know any neighbors that need a extra hand I’ll be more then happy to help.

Praying for you and your community from Indiana man! As a grocery manager at Walmart, we sent donations. Also local churches and other nonprofits have donated money, food, and supplies. There's several charity funds we have set up here in my City and we all have chipped in to help as much as possible!!! I say try to help the fisheries and waterways around you as a conservationist that the ecosystem can sustain the drastic changes. Keep your head high my friend and trust the process. You are setting that hook too hard for the size line you have on there. I'm going to guess you're running at 6 or 8 lb leader were the brand of hooks that you're buying are dull as all get out or just making you have to set them that hard. Also your drag was too loose Even before you loosened it. The more you sit there and spin that spool you're just twisting the line. I thought this guy was crazy telling me that and since I stopped doing it my line twist and wind knots have gone away. Try those two things don't set your hook so hard and tighten your drag just a little bit and see if that doesn't help. The only other thing I would suggest is get a rod with a little bit more flex in it if you're going to set them that hard that way the rod actually eats up some of it or tie on a heavier leader which really isn't a good idea in that clear water

Good points. You are right, some of those hook sets were too hard. Sometimes a hard hook set is needed on a long cast with mono, but otherwise not needed. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by loosening the spool. I have never in all my years of fishing heard that but I will definitely look into it. Turning the spool left loosens the drag and right tightens it. These adjustments are necessary depending on the fish I am catching. I use a lot of rods with more flex just not here (check out some of my other vids) and usually strictly mono (no leader) with gamakatsu hooks when creek fishing like this. This wasn't my best day of fishing. I made a lot of mistakes but we learn along the way. Regardless, thanks for the input/tips and checking me out!

@@bankfishingtv yeah I meant loosen your drag instead of spool and yeah I know there's a rod for every occasion I was just suggestion you might try either a looser rod for your heavy hook sets just to absorb some of that energy means you're not having a yank them up out of a brush pile or something real quick. Just my thoughts. I'm always up to try something new or different as long as it improves my abilities

You really need to use an external battery to power that GoPro. Leaving the battery compartment empty pretty much solves the overheating issue. I agree that this would typically be a good solution for most anglers. For me, it wouldn't work as well. I am in the water about 90 % of my fishing trips. This makes adding media modifications to my camera more dangerous because I do fall in sometimes ( nature of being in the water.) Media mods allow entry into the camera, although water resistant, they are not water proof. One good fall with the gopro media mod attached with a battery pack and my go pro is toast, out hundreds of dollars. I agree there are better ways, just none that seem to fit the type of fishing I do. An external battery pack would be ideal for my bank fishing trips, where I don't go into the water. I appreciate the tips and will continue to look into purchasing this. And thanks again for tuning in!

Yep just one of those days lol. The creek can be a dangerous place. That one specifically has submerged, slick boulders that are very unforgiving. Sometimes I don't watch my step and that's what happens. I appreciate you tuning in again! Hopefully more catch and cooks coming soon!
